801  MegaMan Series / Classic Series / Re: Mega Man 11 on: 4 October 2018, 16:58:27
The weapons in this game are fantastic.  Best weapons in the series probably.  Metal Blade and Jewel Satellite have some major competition.

NOTHING in 11 beats Metal Blade or Jewel Satellite.  Torch Man's weapon in particular is hard to be usefull because of the fixed angle it has.  Jewel Satellite is MUCH better than Acid Barrier.

Torch Man's weapons can destroy enemies even shielded.  Not only that but Acid Barrier power gear destroys enemies on contact and still lets you fire acid globs.

They are good, but may not beat Metal Blade or Jewel Satellite.

Breaking shielded enemies is pointless if you can't line up the awful angle of the shot.  There were MANY places where an enemy was below and infront of me that I wanted to take out, but I couldn't get to the right spot to hit the fixed angle Torch Man's weapon had, a few of them LITERALLY impossible to get to that spot (1 block wide stands between pits).

Acid Barrier is subpar WITHOUT the power gear, and if you have to use a gear to make it as good as a base weapon from another game, it's not that good.

Also, Blast Man's weapon is so god damn slow compared to the amazing Flash Bomb.  It's so slow (moving, not even talking about the timer to blow) it's not really practical to use in fast fights or moving enemies.  Having to use ANOTHER 2 button combo to detonate them early doesn't help either.

I spent a #####ing hour on Torch Man's stage.  Finally beat it.  I might save it for after Tundra Man's stage.  The only two major issues I've had so far with the first 8 levels are with Torch Man's horse ##### insta death fire wall sections (3 of these #####ers), and the spike fest of Acid Man's stage.  I only died in one section (that first one where you go down blindly into the spikes) and THAT section was just MMZ tier garbage stage design, but the other spike sections were just overdone and not necessarily badly designed.

Some of Bounce Man's stage bordered on aggravating rather than fun in lining up your bouncing.  Some of Fuse Man's stage was a BIT overdone on dodging everything from every angle in parts.  Other than that I think it wasn't too bad.

I'm not digging the music so far, but I need to listen to it more to make a call.  I don't hate it, but it's not really standing out to me.  I think the inevitable 8bit remixes might fix that.
804  MegaMan Series / Classic Series / Re: Mega Man 11 on: 3 October 2018, 03:39:37
##### Torch Man's stage.  That is all.
805  MegaMan Series / Classic Series / Re: Mega Man 11 on: 2 October 2018, 17:19:16
My guess is it won't dethrone 8 as the "worst" Classic game.  I'm betting I will rate it solidly in the middle overall.  Depending on the music, maybe lower middle.
806  MegaMan Series / Classic Series / Re: Mega Man 11 on: 2 October 2018, 14:42:10
IT'S MEGA MAN 11 DAY!!!  We have to RUSH to Gamestop to get it!  We don't want to ROLL in late and miss it!  We are going to ROCK some fun tonight!  I BASS this on what I've seen so far, of course, but I will definitely BEAT the game!
807  MegaMan Series / Classic Series / Re: Mega Man 11 on: 1 October 2018, 14:35:38
Frankly, it doesn't NEED to break any new ground.  It's Mega Man.  That's what people WANT.  They have subseries that play different or do different things if you want something different.
808  MegaMan Series / X Series / Re: The Potential of Mega Man X9 on: 25 September 2018, 14:13:07
Only the worst deviant art types want the Elf Wars.  It was an utterly stupid concept taken to the extreme.  Game play wise it doesn't even offer much that couldn't be done in a far less stupid way.
809  MegaMan Series / Classic Series / Re: Mega Man 11 on: 25 September 2018, 14:09:06
Put spikes on your triggers then.
810  MegaMan Series / X Series / Re: The Potential of Mega Man X9 on: 24 September 2018, 20:37:29
Star Link isn't a new Star Fox game.  He's just a guest character.
811  MegaMan Series / Classic Series / Re: Mega Man 11 on: 24 September 2018, 20:36:46
I never used the gears either.  I really don't think you need to.  Though the game is designed to make parts a LOT easier if you do use them.
812  MegaMan Series / X Series / Re: The Potential of Mega Man X9 on: 22 September 2018, 06:48:45
Day of Sigma and MHX in general is the direction I would like the next game to go in a traditional route, where we have beautiful animated scenes to streamline the hype and action where the ingame models would normally falter, though I'm also aware that MHX shines so much due to being based one one of the best games of the entire series.

MHX didn't shine, it ##### on X1.  The 2.5D was awful, the remixes were totally off tone and tempo, and the remixing of the armor capsules was wholly unnecessary.  It was basically X7/X8ing X1.  And it was awful.

The series DESPERATELY needs to go back to the early games though, gameplay and structure wise though.  They need to dump Axl, and focus on building the entire game around X and how he moves and plays.  Period.  Add Zero in and use him like in X4, it worked perfectly.  That's all you need, and really, any more and you just start getting a mess of poor gameplay and stage design like you did as the series went on.  Less is more.
813  MegaMan Series / Classic Series / Re: Mega Man 11 on: 20 September 2018, 15:54:19
The bit of what I would presume to be Tundra Man's theme in his video didn't really strike me as very "ice/cold/frozen" as well as other ice themed robot masters.  Kind of disappointed.
814  MegaMan Series / Classic Series / Re: Mega Man 11 on: 14 September 2018, 19:45:57
I DEEPLY disappointed they didn't add Dr. Wright to Skylines: Cities for Switch.
815  MegaMan Series / Classic Series / Re: Mega Man 11 on: 14 September 2018, 17:36:46
From Dr. Wright?
816  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: What game are you playing? on: 13 September 2018, 15:24:35
doom 2016 is a lot of fun and the graphics are great, just turn off motion blur and max the field of view to feel even faster

I don't care for some of the redesigns.  Cyber Demon looks like ##### in DOOM 2016.  Also, the music, if you want to call it that, is little more than screeching noise, especially compared to the sophisticated compositions of the original or Doom 2.  It's just random electric grating with no solid melody.
817  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: What game are you playing? on: 10 September 2018, 21:43:00
The former.  The game play is a bit jankey.  Controls are rough and the beginning where you only have a rock to throw at enemies to kill them, has the WORST arc/trajectory to do what it's there to do.  No save spots or fast travel.  Real time inventory/weapon/item swap.  Item drop rates are awful.  It has a lot of flaws and rough edges.  And that's not even taking into account the narrative side of the game, which sets up some neat stuff and does nothing with it.  If it was a minimalistic basic set up for the game like Super Metroid, that would be fine, but it sure sets up a much more ambitious and detailed scenario and then drops the ball entirely with no pay off or detail.
818  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: What game are you playing? on: 10 September 2018, 14:50:24
Finally got Exile's End in from Limited Run Games.  It's a lot rougher than I thought it would be.  I'm disappointed with it.
819  MegaMan Series / Classic Series / Re: Mega Man 11 on: 10 September 2018, 14:49:19
A swinger's life isn't all it's cracked up to be my friend, believe me.  You're better off with Mega Man.
820  MegaMan Series / Classic Series / Re: Mega Man 11 on: 10 September 2018, 14:20:56
2 Million?  Pfttt.  Capcom is planning on this baby to sell over 10 million copies.  That's a low estimate too.  Of course if it doesn't meet that very reasonable sales goal it will obviously show no one cares about Mega Man and it's a dead end franchise and the entire effort was a waste of time and resources.
821  MegaMan Series / Classic Series / Re: Mega Man 11 on: 7 September 2018, 14:21:25
Then again I probably have ##### taste since I like X8 and the ZX series :D

Can confirm.
822  MegaMan Series / Classic Series / Re: Mega Man 11 on: 7 September 2018, 06:35:04
It's not the art style, it's the fact it's in 3D.  The art style doesn't help though.  MM8 also was difficult to judge edges and what not due to the art style, just imagine if it had been in 3D as well (the ps1 x games also suffer from this, though not quite as much).
823  MegaMan Series / Miscellaneous MegaMan Games / Re: Super Smash Bros Ultimate on: 6 September 2018, 16:08:12
Why can't we have both?

Because I feel like X and classic are completely different in tone and style that it makes no sense to have X (or Zero or BN or Legends) music playing for wholly classic material.
824  MegaMan Series / X Series / Re: Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1 & 2 on: 6 September 2018, 16:06:51
ZX is hot #####ing garbage.  Zero is awful.  Battle Network is a ton of fun and genuinely great games (overall), at least for the first trilogy.  BN 4-6 are just awful though.  Still, I'd buy a collection just to get the first 3 as well.  (Just like I imported X Collection 2 to get the not great but still playable X5 and X6 even though it had 7/8 on it as well, that and I can't say no to retail releases).
825  MegaMan Series / Miscellaneous MegaMan Games / Re: Super Smash Bros Ultimate on: 5 September 2018, 21:29:18
I think they should stick with classic since it's Classic Mega Man.
826  MegaMan Series / Classic Series / Re: Mega Man 11 on: 4 September 2018, 20:29:05
That's pretty close to Pie Man.
827  MegaMan Series / X Series / Re: Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1 & 2 on: 31 August 2018, 19:48:56
X8 has no positive points.  Not on level design, music, or gameplay.  It's an entirely poorly designed mess of a game.  At least X5 and X6, poor games themselves, were 2D and had a few good tracks (and X5 at least had a shot of best girl Iris).  Both of those games, flaws and all, are infinitely more playable than X8.
828  MegaMan Series / X Series / Re: Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1 & 2 on: 31 August 2018, 18:47:06
X7 and X8 are both awful 3D Mega Man games.  If you can play one, you can play the other.  Just because one is less awful than the other doesn't make it a good game.
829  MegaMan Series / Classic Series / Re: Mega Man 11 on: 31 August 2018, 18:45:50
There is a bit too much "transforming" for my liking from what they've shown between Block Man and Impact Man.  Not a fan of that when done to that level of them turning into a giant #####ing stage boss size.
830  MegaMan Series / X Series / Re: Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1 & 2 on: 31 August 2018, 00:27:39
If you can play X8, you can play X7.
831  MegaMan Series / X Series / Re: Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1 & 2 on: 30 August 2018, 15:45:24
It was always a bad idea to let you switch characters between stages.  It just made it that much harder to balance a playthrough.  The fact it forced you to split the life ups and what not was also a huge screw up.  X4 did it right.  Pick X or Zero.  Stages were easier because of Zero's movement differences, but enemies were harder because Zero had to get up close to attack.  I liked the balance.
832  MegaMan Series / X Series / Re: Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1 & 2 on: 18 August 2018, 20:21:00
X8, almost as tight as the 2D games before it

It was not, not by a mile.

but good lord the level design was just ass.

Yes, yes it was.  And you're giving ass a bad name by comparing it to X8's stage design.

It's disappointing because I've had people tell me that it's just as good as the older X games.

ANYONE who says X8 is "as good as the old games" is literally full of #####.  X8 is better than X7.  That's it.  And that's a very VERY low bar.  If not for X7, X8 would be the single worst X game by a country mile.  Even with X5 and X6's strong faults taken into account.

Oh and X Challenge is fun! I liked it. While a bunch of challenges being the same across two games is a bummer it's still a neat new thing which at this point I'm willing to take.

I hated X Challenge.  It's just not fun.  The bosses are just #####ing bullet sponges.  It's nothing more than a dodge for 30 minutes while you shoot #####.  It's not fun at all.  AND it's painfully obvious how lazy they were making it.

Did you see the jumpless run on Super Mario Odyssey?  The game has a jump counter in it to tell you how many times you jumped.

836  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: Dragonball FighterZ on: 14 August 2018, 15:10:23
You can't use any new Wii and up made Gamecube controllers on an actual Gamecube though, the plugs are all Wiimote plugs, at least the non Smash branded ones.  And most of them are not Smash branded.  The adapter is mostly for actual Gamecube era controllers that were already in circulation.
837  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: Dragonball FighterZ on: 12 August 2018, 20:00:27
That touch pad on the DS4 is horrid.

And are Nintendo even making Wii U/Switch compatible Gamecube controllers anymore or did they farm ALL of them out to 3rd parties?  Because the 3rd Party Gamecube controllers ALL feel like they weigh 10 oz and feel cheap as #####.
838  MegaMan Series / Classic Series / Re: Mega Man 11 on: 12 August 2018, 19:57:41
I GUARANTEE you Xbox will dead last in sales for this.  Switch followed by PS4 followed by Xbone is how it's going to go.  It makes... zero sense to do a demo only on the platform you won't see many sales on.

Or maybe Microsoft forked over some cash to give their userbase a first taste. They seem to be going HAM on exclusives as of late, and perhaps while they couldn't persuade Capcom to make it a timed exclusive, they could've gotten a demo out of it. Just conjecture, because I don't see any other point in a demo as well.

Mega Man 11 is not the type of game most of Xbox's user base gives 2 #####s about.  Those people are almost exclusively Switch and PS4 users.  And they're not getting an Xbone just to play Mega Man 11 a year before they can on the console that has games they actually want.
839  MegaMan Series / Classic Series / Re: Mega Man 11 on: 10 August 2018, 15:13:11
I'm skipping the demo regardless of platform(s).  I know I'm getting it and I want to start it with the whole game and not having played one stage to death when it comes out.
840  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: Matricians: What are you watching? on: 10 August 2018, 15:12:02
You want something great to watch?  Try the 80s ABC cop show "Sledge Hammer".  It's a comedy, and it's freaking HILARIOUS!
841  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: Dragonball FighterZ on: 10 August 2018, 15:10:13
I utterly detest the Gamecube controller.  The "cat paw" face buttons are inferior to the diamond layout on pretty much all other controllers.  It doesn't have L1/R1/L2/R2 shoulders, just 1 pair with an oddball "Z" button tacked on.  The d pad is in the wrong position (this is a problem with many other controllers though) AND it's freaking microscopic.

That aside, the one positive thing about it I will say is all that aside, it IS comfy to hold in your hands, and if the buttons and sticks weren't #####/##### placed, it would probably be a good controller.

846  MegaMan Series / Miscellaneous MegaMan Games / Re: Super Smash Bros Ultimate on: 8 August 2018, 19:51:43
X wouldn't be a good echo fighter because he's considerably different size and shape wise from Mega Man's Smash model.  Given he at least has a model already since he's in the final smash does give a head start on resources for him though.  Though honestly, if we get another Mega Man rep, I'd prefer Zero, Roll, or Tron, just for different play style and less cloneishness.
847  MegaMan Series / Miscellaneous MegaMan Games / Re: Super Smash Bros Ultimate on: 8 August 2018, 16:40:44
The two Belmonts made me smile a mile wide.  K. Rool is cool too.  Honestly, after both Ridley and K. Rool I really can't believe they didn't add Waluigi.  Dark Samus is lame, but Prime is ##### so anything coming from it is as well.  SA-X was infinitely better.

The game is suppose to have 900 music tracks?  That's going to be awesome.  Especially with new Castlevania remixes and some new Mega Man remixes.

Really, this game continues to blow past expectations.
848  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: What game are you playing? on: 7 August 2018, 21:14:44
I restarted La-Mulana after 2 years.  I'm going to try to beat it without a guide, though I suspect I'll have to cheat a few times, as even though the remake made some of the puzzles less obtuse, there's still a lot of bull##### in the game.
849  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: Dragonball FighterZ on: 7 August 2018, 15:16:33
How much cost to the controller did putting a screen just to animate the logo add to the price?
