You had to gimp your folder to use Souls (add the right #####ing element/type to even ACTIVATE it) and you couldn't set it as your regular chip, so getting the soul was random. You STARTED battle in style and kept it the entire fight.
Souls were more in the spirit, but failed wholy and utterly in gameplay compared to styles.

Yeah, I downloaded the MM7 8-bit remake a couple months ago. Tons of fun.
I wish there was a Mac version...
Macs are absolutely worthless for anything other than looking like a pretencious dick. Anyone who buys one and then complains about nothing but 1st party Apple aps being available for it have no right to whine. ... not that Morgan had any choice in getting a mac. RIGHT? I just meant Mactards in general.

Considering I thought FF6's script was just fine in its SNES form, the fact that they changed it at all makes me worry for Chrono Trigger. They called it "updating," but I can hardly say it was an improvement.
For analogy, let's compare the scripts of X1 and IHX. This is what I'm worried about for Trigger; that the script will change and make the characters needlessly wordy, having them ramble on in complex sentences that nobody would use in everyday conversation. I can understand Sigma being like that, but not X, Zero or most of the Mavericks.
On the plus side, I've been playing an unofficial direct translation of Trigger, and most of it seems exactly the same. They did a good job the first time round, so I hope they don't muck it up.
Maverick Hunter X was a retcon rewrite. Chrono Trigger will, at WORST, get a FF4DS style rewrite, which corrected some errors and just SOUNDED better without changing any of the plot. Unless of course they try to shoehorn in more in game stuff to make Chrono Cross fit better, but if it's just what they did for the PS1 Port, that can be easily ignored.

I think Hornet Man looks pretty Ace, but Galaxy Man is just awful. "Tornado" Man's sprite looks even worse than his art.
It's official. MM9s Robot Masters are the worst in the series. And as 8's were far from great, that's quite an accomplishment.
Hopefully the music (which sounds good so far), level design and weapons will make up for it. This is SO MM6 quality. Any further attempt to imply it's going to be like/top MM2 is now just trolling by Inafune.

TORNADO MAN ##### YES HE LOOKS LIKE HARPUIA!
And by default, #####. I'm sorry, but Tornado Man's design is AWFUL. Air Man and Wind Man are turning in thier graves. Even Gyro Man looked more air/wind themed than this piece of #####. At worst Tornado Man looks like is a generic green robot who was randomly assigned "wind" as a power and at best Gyro Man after he got all his ##### stolen when Wily left him parked in the wrong part of town. Concrete Man and Magma Man don't look too bad, but Concrete Man really doesn't scream CONCRETE to me. And since we know Splash Woman is just a Leviathian rip off, that makes 2 of the 8 Robot Masters complete failures in the design department. Anyway, from what we've seen MM9 looks to be about on par with MM6 for Robot Master quality, which is to say, not great. We'll have to see if the other 4 can salvage the substancial failure that is Tornado Man and Splash Woman to top 6 and 8.

Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: So... Final Fantasy IV DS... Yeah...

Final Fantasy 4 is my favorite in the series hands down. This remake does not dissappoint. I really can't say anything bad about the game outside a few things that boil down to personal prefrence (the way the stats are arranged on the lower screen and the "active" and "wait" settings both pretty much working like "active" as well as only getting 2 new game + files).
The scrip rewrite is one of the best I've ever seen outside of the porno mag being called lustfull lail-ho. Game is a lot harder, no doubt. Gill is in short supply compared to the old version, which freaked me out at first, but really, any time you have Rosa you can Pray your way to full health/MP pretty easy. I've barely bought any supplies in the game.
As far as DS specific changes go, they offset the normal difficulty, especially the map feature and the Augments. Cecil with Draw Attack and Counter essentially removes most of the difficulty. Other Augments are also pretty game breaking (if you can find the damn things). If you want to get the best Augments, you WILL need to play the game with a FAQ as you go. I also found myself looking at the map screen more than the game screen because it showed you dead ends a hell of a lot faster than you'd find them just wondering around. Makes dungeons MUCH easier to navigate.
All in all this game really makes me long for the day when Final Fantasy was a solid RPG series and not a #####ty emo/efeminate "male" lead psudo fantasy/scifi #####fest that it's become.
I can not wait for 6 to get the DS remake treatment! Shame we'll likely have to wait through 5 to get to it though.

I played a few hours into ZXA, but I don't own it. But yeah. I gave MMZ and ZX a fair shot. Both series are #####. I only have X7 because no one knew it would be THAT bad and X8 because I wanted to believe it wouldn't be as bad as X7. Which it wasn't, but it was still bad.

For destroying one of the best Game series ever? HA. I expect MM9 to be playable, but around MM5/6 quality. Not bad, but laughable to try to elevate it to MM2/3 level.

Not really. Classic has, even when it was so so, ALWAYS been better than ZX. And the way it was phrased had nothing to do with implying "complexity". Mega Man 9 is a complete and total UPGRADE from the ##### Inticreates has ##### out for ages.

I feel torn between wanting to get MM1 and MM2 on the VC.
I already own them on the Anniversary Collection
No, you don't. You own ##### ports that reflect the original games as well as a 90 year old hobo represents himself as he was as an olympic athlete at 20. I really want to buy them, but I don't want to waste points.
Hint: you can never waste money buying nearly 100% NES accurate Mega Man 1 and 2 games. If you don't have an NES and a cartridge, VC is the ONLY way to play the games. Unless Mega Man 1 and 2 go a completely different route than every other VC game that's come so far.

Its interesting that after all this time, and all the diffrent variations on the megaman story line that all of us are so excited over a new game that in all honesty is a downgrade from something like MMZX or even X.
MM9's plot a DOWNGRADE from ZX? Really? You actually said that? Let me tell you something son, Mega Man 9 will be, no matter WHAT it may turn out to be like, infinately better than the garbage that is ZX. If there is absolutely no connection to anything outside of classic continuity then the game is already an instant success. Classic's plot is so simple and fun that any attempt to tie it into X and by default the putrid festering puddle of fecies that is the MMZ/ZX continuity would instantly ruin the game. Mega Man 9 is very much the way Mega Man needs to go. Nothing short of a continity rewrite or just retconning away anything post X4 as the what if it really is and going back the basics ala Classic Mega Man or early X. Doesn't have to be 8bit, but it needs to be in the spirit. And I'm sorry to all the Inti #####s out there, but MMZ/ZX is NOT in the spirit of Mega Man at all.

i really enjoyed bn 4 and 6 altho 6 did have an very annoying ending. But 4 was awesome because that was when they first put souls in i loved that (altho i did like the styles but if u hated the 1 u get thats it u r stuck with it for ages)
Though his point is inherently WRONG, this post demonstrates why first post members should be banned, as there are only 2 or 3 places one in instructed NOT to post in this manor (spelling, grammar, text like "words"). Phone keypads are just as bad as keyboards as they are game controllers. REMEMBER THAT KIDS!

Wonder how'd they twist/retcon that to fit with the ##### they cobbled up in MMZ/ZX. But more importantly, I wonder what Inafune had in mind originally that we'll never ever see now since the MMZ/ZX retcon will be used to continue any new Legends plot.

DNA has no place or relation to Robots. Chips and data are related to programs and computers. Weather or not Lan pulls a pouch of them out of his ass is irrelevant. At least they fit in with the series and work with the plot and concept. DNA data and cyber elfs do NOT.

I hope they never touch Legends.
If Legends gets a new game, Inti will be the ones doing it. And it will be shoehorned into the AMAZING grandious plot they conceived just like X was.

It wasn't really that good. It was better than X6, but still ridiculous and had Axl in it.
The controls just felt clunky in comparison to the other games, and there's no excuse for it.
And the stage design made X6's look good. Subsystems were awful, the "buy your life ups" was an insult to the "find heart tanks" that founded the game. Character designs and models were awful (LOL ZERO HAS A RAT TALE). X8 can only pass as "good" because it followed X7. It's incredibly subpar compared to ANY of the 2D SNES or PS1 games.
