Shut up, John.

ANYWAY. He didn't make everyone call him Alucard, he just called himself that for a while but that wore off. I'm one of the only two or three people who still call him Alucard anymore, and I only do it to rub it in his face that I think it's stupid. I refuse to call him by his real name. He looks more like a werewolf now, anyway. I saw him for the first time in what must have been a year just the other day. He dresses weird, has a dumb vampire thing, and SHOULD be a loser, but yes, he's actually an okay dude.

Generally those people are not okay dudes. But he's an okay dude. He's like that one McDonalds that seems to make their fries just a LITTLE bit crispier and thus better than all the other ones.

Okay, I was wrong, my green zip-up hoodie is Aeropostle. See, I don't even keep track of that stuff.

But yeah, that reminds me. Aeropostle.

I actually like them. I have a bunch of those shirts and they don't have a specific logo, they just work the word "Aeropostle" into their designs in different ways, and all the ones I have are very nifty.

2207  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: Matricians: Show Yourselves! on: 5 May 2009, 20:13:47
My mom used to buy my clothes for me, and she bought a lot of Hollister and American Eagle stuff because, well, I live in a very Jewish suburban area and all of her friends are Jewish and suburbany and that's the sort of stuff she thought was trendy and popular, and, well, she'd be CORRECT, at least for the area I live. It's just not really my thing. Or, it wasn't, but now I wear it all anyway.

Now that I'm wearing only green shirts, I was able to weed out a lot of the Hollister/AE stuff, but I've still got a LOT of 'em. One of my zip-up hoodies is AE.

I've only recently gotten more into, well, fashion, I guess. Style, maybe? But yeah, I used to not care at all what I wear, and now I actually spend more than a few minutes picking out a shirt every day.

Snicharael, you look SO Jewish. Just had to say it.

I'm not and I can prove it!

Ew.

Pissed that you thought of that and I didn't. But then again, now we're both thinking about that, so nobody really won.

I've gotten REALLY into Skate 2.

As in, I've played more than a couple hours a day for the last few days.

I love how gruesome the ragdoll physics make all the bails look. I find myself cringing and going "OHHHHHHH SNAP" when I wipe out hard.

It took me a really long time to stop pressing "Y" to grind, haha. THPS reflexes are hard to kick. And about that: I'm a huuuuuuge fan of THPS but it's definitely grown stale, and this is a nice refresher in the world of video game skateboarding. Should've definitely tried this out a looooong time ago, I've been meaning to since the original came out.

2223  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: Matricians: What are you reading now? on: 3 May 2009, 05:54:21
So, I heard about this show that's starting next fall on ABC called Flash Forward. The premise REALLY interested me: basically, after testing the Large Hadron Collider, everyone on earth passes out for 2 minutes, and has their consciousnesses catapulted about 21 years into the future, where they get a glimpse through their eyes Being John Malkovich-style. Then, everyone wakes up, but there's a crapload of destruction... like, everyone who was driving a car passed out and the cars kept going, all planes taking off and landing crashed, anyone on a ladder or anything fell off, that sort of thing.
Everyone has to deal with this catastrophe and the fact that they got to see what their lives would be like 21 years later.

So, basically, I found out it's based on a book called Flashforward by Robert J. Sawyer, so I went out and bought it the other day. I'm about six chapters in and I really like it. There's a lot of great stuff, like some people DIDN'T see flashes and that basically means they die within the next 21 years. One guy who doesn't see a flash basically finds out (from other people who were reading newspapers when they flashed) that he was murdered, and he now wants to try to solve his own murder and prevent it from happening. There's a lot more cool things like that and a whole bunch of characters and, basically, it's a great read so far.

Definitely looking forward to the show.
2224  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: The MOVIE Thread on: 3 May 2009, 02:45:20
MST3K did most of those, if I'm not mistaken.

the type MST3K would cover (and they've covered most of these.)

Anyway, yeah, I'm doing this movie marathon with some friends. We'll probably split it up over a few days. Should be tons of fun. I watched the beginning of Santa's Slay, and it's spectacular. Also, Emilie De'Ravin (however you spell it, she plays Claire on Lost) is in it! Funny.

And yeah, Gingerdead Man looks #####ing amazing. Can't wait to watch that one. There's a second one (without Busey) titled "Passion of the Crust."
2225  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: The MOVIE Thread on: 2 May 2009, 20:39:16
I've recently been downloading a huge amount of... well, you can only call bad movies. But, you know the kind, the "so-bad-they're-good" kind, the type MST3K would cover (and they've covered most of these.)

I'm going to have a bad movie marathon soon. Here's what's on the list:

- Plan 9 From Outer Space (obviously)
- The Gingerdead Man (starring GARY BUSEY)
- Santa's Slay ("Santa had to be good for 1,000 years... those 1,000 years are up.")
- The Wizard of Gore (they watched this in Juno, I believe)
- Santa Claus Conquers The Martians
- Teenagers From Outer Space
- Shark Attack 3: Megalodon (look this up on Youtube for the best line in movie history)

Last one that I have to download is Manos: Hands of Fate.

Should be a fun marathon.

2227  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: Matricians: What are you watching? on: 2 May 2009, 18:57:37
I like Christopher Eccleston more than David Tennant only because Eccleston was my "first" Doctor. He sold me on the show. "The Empty Child"/"The Doctor Dances" episodes are my favorite story of the entire of the entire series. "Just this once... everyone lives!" was so great.

But yeah, David Tennant is just as great, and I always found myself wanting to like him more. He's a lot funnier so I SHOULD like him more, at least.

I downloaded the latest special that aired on Easter/my birthday not too long ago, but I haven't watched it yet. I guess they're doing four holiday specials this year instead of a full season. Which is fine. But after these, David Tennant is gone and apparently the next Doctor is this really young guy, almost a kid. And that kind of bothers me.

Didn't know David Tennant was in any Harry Potter movies. Cool.

Really good episode, though.

Just finished watching last night's episode of The Office, and holy crap, that was a REALLY funny episode. I dunno' where that came from. It's been so droll and meh lately with the occasional funny episode, but wow, that was like, a goldmine of awesome. Definitely refueled my interest in the show. I laughed quite a bit. And hard.

ALSO, forgot if I mentioned this here: I started watching The Venture Bros. I wrote it off as a crappy Adult Swim cartoon a long time ago, but I must say that I'm extremely impressed with it. The animation is actually... well, it's actually animation, and not standard Adult Swim crapimation, so that was my first tip-off to the show's quality. But then I realized it was actually funny. And then I realized it was totally making fun of 90's Saturday-morning adventure cartoons like Johnny Quest and I fell in love. Definitely reccomend it.

Oh, and I'm finishing up Season 2 of Chuck, since I dropped out for a while. Running through 'em all. It really picks up as the season ends, and I remembered how much I like this show. They'd seriously better not cancel it.
2229  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: The MOVIE Thread on: 2 May 2009, 02:26:52
That's only because you care about the subject matter and it can only go downhill for you.

I had the lowest possible expectations, I didn't even want to see it, I was begging everyone to just go see Crank 2 instead even though it wasn't playing at midnight obviously. Basically, not being a big X-Men fan or anything left me with the ability to actually enjoy the movie.

I read up on Deadpool's actual character in the comics and I totally see how wrong and messed up they got him and that actually pisses me off quite a bit now that I know how cool of a character he is. Wisecracking badass who's constantly breaking the fourth wall? He'd be my favorite if I actually read comics.

I saw this panel and fell in love:

So, yeah, basically, you're going to HATE it, Mike. You too, Wind.
2230  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: The MOVIE Thread on: 1 May 2009, 23:03:21
The next X-Men Origins is Magneto, I believe. Could be wrong. There was supposed to be a Deadpool movie but it was scrapped - Ryan Reynolds has been fighting for it for a long time, since 2003 or something.

Anyway, THANK YOU FOR FINALLY WATCHING KISS KISS BANG BANG. It's a serious contender for my favorite movie of all time, which I currently proclaim as Shaun of the Dead. Just absolutely fantastic, hilarious, action-packed... the BEST writing I've witnessed, in my opinion, especially in the dialogue.
2231  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: The MOVIE Thread on: 1 May 2009, 22:13:53
It's not like there's much to spoil. You pretty much already know how it's going to end anyway.

Movies like this are weird because you know that anyone in the later X-Men movies is never in any real mortal danger at any time. And on top of that, Wolverine and Sabretooth can both #####ing heal from anything.

I just think it's interesting that (extremely minor spoiler):
they devoted screentime to things such as Wolverine flatlining after they infuse him with adamantium... as if there's a chance he won't live through it.
Basically, we already know a lot of the story.
2232  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: The MOVIE Thread on: 1 May 2009, 18:32:51
It was pretty good, and Deadpool is only near the end of the movie. Plus, if you have no idea who he is, then you don't really have any idea that they messed him up. I never would've known if I hadn't read about how wrong they got him a while ago. The movie was still a good addition to the Marvel movieverse.
2233  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: What game are you playing? on: 1 May 2009, 07:41:01
That whole Stop-N-Swop thing was because Rare found out Nintendo wouldn't let them do what they were planning to do because it could damage the system. As in, their idea was that you quickly take out the Banjo-Kazooie cartridge and replace it with the Banjo-Tooie cartridge while the N64 is still warm, and it would unlock secrets if you got all the Stop-N-Swop items in BK.

Apparently, they actually ADDED the Stop-N-Swop stuff to Banjo-Tooie's XBLA release. I have no idea what these added things are, but apparently they actually reinstated the same ideas Rare had from all the way back then.

As for the name Banjo-Tooie... I thought it was ridiculous but the humor of the games let them get away with it. I had no problem with it, in fact I like it.

Now, Banjo-Kazooie is clearly the better game. If only for the overall experience.

Banjo-Tooie is a LOT more complex, longer, crazier... while Banjo-Kazooie has that warm "this-is-a-masterpiece" package vibe going on for it. It's all wrapped up and nice, and when you're done with it 100%, you feel like you've just put the final brush stroke on the Mona Lisa. I mean, I'm exaggerating, but you get what I'm trying to say.

Banjo-Tooie felt loose, disconnected, and overly complex. Which I loved, and it was a great game, and I even may admit that I'd rather play Tooie than Kazooie, but Kazooie is the better game.
2234  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: The MOVIE Thread on: 1 May 2009, 07:35:40
I have this friend who gets REALLY excited about all the "big" movies, and I mean REALLY excited. He has terrible taste in movies but when he latches onto something, he gets more obsessed than me. So, yeah.

I just got dragged by him to the midnight premiere of X-Mans Original: Wolferine.

Which was actually really good.

Well, I enjoyed it quite a bit.

I heard they really messed up Deadpool from how he's actually supposed to be, but I have absolutely ZERO knowledge of ANY of the events in the movie so I have no idea. Seemed okay in the movie. Mike'll probably be able to comment more on this.

But yeah, basically, I was pleasantly surprised and really enjoyed it.

Tooie is NOT the best of them all. It's not bad, but it's not better than the original and it has a stupid name.

Agreed on the original being the best, but I must say I'm a fan of the name Banjo-Tooie. But that sort of thing wouldn't fly with much else.

Jack Black would be a "meh, that's cool" encounter for me.

Everyone has their own Scale of Celebrity Encounters, as in, you might meet someone super famous but that you don't care for at all, and that's cool, but really means nothing to you. And then there's meeting your idol, or someone you're obsessed with, and that's a huge deal even if they're not that famous. All that jazz.
