701  MegaMan Series / StarForce Series / Re: So Mega Man Star Force 4 was going to be a thing... on: 17 June 2019, 05:01:01
Bad series was spared an even worse entry?  That sounds like a mercy kill to me.  Nothing of value was lost.
702  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: E3 on: 12 June 2019, 17:21:02
Capcom is still doing awful practices though.  They're just doing it with better games instead of awful games.
703  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: E3 on: 11 June 2019, 22:02:32
Stream made it look like Collection of Mana was digital only and I had a mini aneurysm, but later after the stream it was clarified that it will get a retail release in late August.

Other than that, the direct was amazing.  Nintendo destroyed the rest of the shows.  One of their best for sure.  It was only lacking Bayonetta 3 news/update.  I do wonder if the Witcher 3 is getting a retail release though since it's sure to be pretty big.  A "cartridge release" where you have to download the other 80 gigs of the game isn't a retail release.  If it does get one, I may actually pick it up.  I loved the Banjo reveal mirroring Krool's.  No one cares about another #####ing sword user though, so the DQ Hero was about as disappointing as could be.  Not that it matters, I don't buy DLC like that, but it would have been nice to have Banjo.  He's the best of the 5 so far by a mile.

I'm more surprised that link still works.

Streets of Rage is passable if not disappointing.  It still looks like a cheap flash game to me.
706  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: E3 on: 10 June 2019, 14:20:52
Did you see Battletoads?  Jesus that looks like hot garbage.  That style does not fit or serve the game at all.  It looks like they put zero effort into it.

708  MegaMan Series / Classic Series / Re: Mega Man Wily Wars is part of Sega Classic Mini! on: 7 June 2019, 21:03:49
I was actually surprised they didn't have Sonic 3 on it, Knuckles or not.
709  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: What game are you playing? on: 6 June 2019, 14:55:07
My only real complaint is I wish they'd let you select which section of the case to start from like the newer games.  Sometimes I'd just like to start on the last section of the last trial day on cases like 1-4, 1-5, or 2-4 instead of having to play the ENTIRE case to get there.
710  MegaMan Series / Classic Series / Re: Mega Man Wily Wars is part of Sega Classic Mini! on: 5 June 2019, 14:24:40
I'm sure it will be cracked fairly soon after release, but to be honest, if it wasn't, this is one mini that I think would be fine factory out of the box.  It has a good number of games and a pretty solid list of system defining games plus some hidden gems.  Sonic &  Knuckles would have been good and I'd have liked to see Hyperstone Heist as well, but it's hard to complain with the lineup as it is when you look at the NES classic with a good 5 or 6 outright duds on it.

Also, have a seat Delta, STAY A WHILE.
711  MegaMan Series / Miscellaneous MegaMan Games / Re: NEW Mega Man cartoon coming in 2017 on: 4 June 2019, 14:56:42
You mean ACTUAL Mega Man content that resembles Mega Man and not the ##### they're obsessed with #####ting out?  I would agree with you.
712  MegaMan Series / Miscellaneous MegaMan Games / Re: NEW Mega Man cartoon coming in 2017 on: 30 May 2019, 16:10:42
See my above statement.
713  MegaMan Series / Miscellaneous MegaMan Games / Re: NEW Mega Man cartoon coming in 2017 on: 30 May 2019, 03:20:03
Then that's the WORST thing to do.  If they've never seen Mega Man before then make it match the games.  They won't know the difference and people who actually like Mega Man get accurate material.  And if they have never seen Mega Man and for whatever reason like that drek and go looking for games, guess what?  IT WON'T MATCH THE CARTOON and they'll be pissy that the games are "wrong".  ##### that and ##### them and ##### the people who made Mega Man Fully Charged.
714  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: What game are you playing? on: 29 May 2019, 22:15:11
Yes, 2-3 is Turnabout Big Top.  It's commonly ##### on by the community as the "worst case ever", but as you said, it's really not all that bad.

I need to replay 5 and 6 again since I've only ever played each of those once due to them being digital and me borrowing my friends 3DS to play them.  Now that I have a modded 3DS (which I did ONLY to get Ace Attorney 5 and 6), I may do that.

I hope they do a Switch port of 4, 5 and 6 with the HD version of 4.  It would likely have dual languages on it given history.  I'd like to own 5 and 6.

719  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: What game are you playing? on: 29 May 2019, 15:45:47
It pains me to say it, but Apollo Justice is kind of a ##### game.  Game play wise it's fine for the most part, but it just #####s on so many characters and Apollo is such a weak character in his own game.  There was a lot of behind the scenes stuff with this game that really hurt the final product.  For what it's worth, I personally think they course corrected good and turned the series around for Dual Destinies and Spirit of Justice.  Both use Apollo much better, and they do a much better job with Athena than they did with Apollo initially, although she's still a weak character.

The 2nd trilogy is kind of all over with plot stuff between the 3 games and doesn't really have a satisfying end like the original one.  Most of the stuff in Apollo Justice is more or less just forgotten or rewritten by Spirit of Justice.  Add to that case 3 is the single worst case in the entire series (yeah, 2-3 isn't as bad as people pretend it is, and even if it was 4-3 is a hundred times worse).  And 4-4 is the single worst final case in the series with some complete nonsense that makes no narrative sense and ZERO satisfaction for the final confrontation (not even using the cornered theme).  Prepare yourself for disappointment.

Even with all that said, I'd still play it.  You'll want to so that 5 and 6 make more sense, even if they just toss out a lot of 4's plot (for the better).

Edgeworth's games are good, but 1 is a little rough.  2 is an AMAZING game though.  The only bad part is you'll need to play it on a flash card, mod a DS/3DS to play roms, or emulate it.  Either way, DO IT.  It's easily a contender for best Ace Attorney game.  The fact we never got it officially is a crime.
720  MegaMan Series / Miscellaneous MegaMan Games / Re: NEW Mega Man cartoon coming in 2017 on: 29 May 2019, 15:34:00

721  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: What game are you playing? on: 24 May 2019, 19:22:06
The graphics and animations are superb!  I can't believe how sharp and crisp everything looks.  It's like an entirely new game.  The Switch and PS4 version of Trilogy HD are the definitive versions of all 3 games.  There's no missing animation or music (that I could find or noticed).  This a far cry from the buggy version on iPhone and 3DS.  If you like the games, these are literal perfection.  Import it from Japan so you can own it physically, you don't want this game to be a digital time bomb.  I got mine from Play Asia, and it's amazing.  It booted right up into the US English version, even on the Switch menu with the right logos and names included.  The only difference is Japanese logos on the case and cart sticker.  I'm probably going to get this for PS4 as well at some point.

Although I honestly don't care for Apollo Justice, I hope we get a Switch/PS4 port of 4 HD, 5 and 6 like this.

It's NTSC, yes, but the game was still pretty #####tily programmed and had issues.  Though I've read they appear to have done some work on it, so we'll see how it runs.

726  MegaMan Series / Classic Series / Re: Mega Man Wily Wars is part of Sega Classic Mini! on: 16 May 2019, 18:36:45
I saw that.  While not a very good remake, it's still cool, especially since it was essentially an unreleased game in the US.  I'm hoping they do some tweeking to it to help with some of the awful slowdown.  Still neat though.

734  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: What game are you playing? on: 5 March 2019, 21:41:05
I'd read they'd sanitized the hell out of to make it more "acceptable".  The game is just T&A the fighting game, and removing that part of it leaves it as a fighting game with no real remarkable aspects.  Plus, the current "endless DLC content of fighters and outfits" that will never net you a complete game to buy... so sadly, not much interest in this one.
735  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: What game are you playing? on: 20 February 2019, 15:40:42
4 is the ONLY good non Survival Horror Resident Evil.  It's certainly more of an action game than any of the previous games were, but it was constructed to be an actiony version of a Resident Evil game.  It still had some RE style puzzles and cheesy dialog.  It was still single player (no forced co-op).  It's kind of hard to quantify, but 5 and 6 clearly were made to be co-op action shooters, and Revelations were far too much into the 3rd person shooter style linear "stage" style game than your mazey backtrack metroidvania world design.

Some people say 5 or 6 are just like 4 but better, and they're wrong on both counts.  Regardless, do pick up 4, it's the last good original Resident Evil game Capcom made. (if 7 wasn't first person I probably would have included that but as you can't play it more than 5 minutes without getting a migraine and vomiting it's not really playable).

The Xbox and 360 had infinitely more original games and exclusives than the bone does, it's no surprise.
739  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: What game are you playing? on: 13 February 2019, 21:16:25
Zombies do indeed take WAY too many hits to permanently kill.  And as I said, since you can aim  to hit specific spots, head shots should be instant kills or take very few hits.  The zombies do lurch a LOT so it's hard to lock on and easy to miss, but the game is clearly done to have you stun and just run past stuff.
740  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: What game are you playing? on: 12 February 2019, 17:26:09
Several things that get to the heart of what made RE2 RE2.  Mechanics, sure, are part of that.  I STILL firmly believe they should have remade it like they did RE1, which IS the gold standard for a remake (I'll add in Punch-Out!! Wii and DuckTales Remastered as well).  But ignoring the leaving behind of the fixed cameras and tank controls, there's a lot that was removed or just messed up.

The game has virtually no music by default.  It uses some very subdued and minimized remixes of the actual RE2 soundtrack in places like the main hall and save rooms.  These are already very quiet and then fade out completely after about 30 seconds.  Music is usually used in the RE2make for emphasis.  Like a boss or when Mr. X shows up.  It, like everything about RE2make is a more "modern" design style choice.  This carries into the sound effects, which are pretty much the same as RE7, and generic as can be.  This has both an up side and downside though.  You can switch to the original RE2 soundtrack and sound effects!  This literally changes the entire game on a fundamental level and makes it feel more like a legit RE2 remake than it is by default.  The down side?  It's not on the disc and is DLC (because of course it is #####ing Capcom).

The notes you find that add lore and plot have been cut back a lot.  If you'd never played the original you'd never know the corpse in the orphanage is the mayor's daughter.  The original game had several references to the mayor leaving her in Iron's care and it was much more spelled out what he did.  This is the case with literally EVERYTHING in RE2make.  Details and backstory removed or left out or barely touched on that were in the original game.  Remember the scene with the helicopter dropping the tank with MR. X?  Yeah, they cut that all together.  Same with why the other helicopter crashed.  It just randomly crashes into the RPD.  Also gone are ALL of the bits of flavor dialog you get when you examine areas.  The STARS office gives you no info/details when you examine Chris, Jill, Barry, or Rebecca's desks.  Or anything else in the game.  These are little details but added a lot of character and flavor to the game.

The zapping system and scenarios are pretty much butchered in the remake.  Nothing you do in the "A" game affects the "B" game such as leaving or taking items.  Clair and Leon interact all of 3 times in the game in cutscenes and never talk again outside of them.  The original game had the "B" scenario play shorter and felt like you were working around what happened in the "A" scenario for the most part.  In RE2make, it's just their "A" scenario with some things moved around and some areas cut off and changes who is on what side of the fence/camera in the cutscenes.  It really is just the same game with a main character swap and minimal boss changes at the end.

Also, the feel, pace, and atmosphere is COMPLETELY different removing fixed camera, tank controls, and room transitions.  The game had to make too much of it so dark you can literally barely see anything to compensate to "scare" you differently.  I'm not a fan of that approach.  It probably comes down to personal taste, but It's still just not Resident Evil to me as those controls/style define the style of the series.

Lastly, there is far too much RNG in the game.  They give you the ability to free aim anywhere yet you can pump a zombie's skull full of a dozen bullets and it still doesn't die.  It's been proven that location of shots all do the same "damage" so head shots are virtually pointless, as is the ability to aim.  The only thing that does work is shooting kneecaps and elbows to blow off legs or arms to cripple them and just run by, which is pretty much what the designers seem to want you to do evidently.  Some zombies take clips to take down, some a few shots.  It seems far too random.  Also crafting bullets from gunpowder is also random on how many bullets it yields.  While I like the game really lets you build your ammo to how you want to play, yield should be consistent, not random.  Same goes for normal ammo pick ups.  It's not always 12 bullets a box, it can be 6, 10, even 2.  Not a fan of that.

I also HATE the ultra realistic photo realism style they're hell bent on using.  It just doesn't fit or work well.

As I said, taken on it's own, it's really not a bad game.  I wouldn't still be playing it if it was.  But as a remake of Resident Evil 2?  It's SEVERELY lacking details, content, and touches that absolutely made the original what it was.  And that's a major disappointment.  Judging it strictly as a remake, it's a solid C- for me.  As it's own thing, I give it a B+
741  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: The "How Was Your Day?" Thread on: 12 February 2019, 15:19:04

742  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: What game are you playing? on: 12 February 2019, 15:17:59
I've been playing Resident Evil 2 Remake.  Taken on it's own for what it is, it's a pretty good game.  Taken strictly as a remake of RE2, it's severely lacking in a lot of things and I can't call it a success.  It also suffers from Capcom's "DLC everything" it's known for now.  It's not the remake I wanted, but it's a playable game, if not disappointing as a remake.
743  MegaMan Series / Classic Series / Re: Mega Man 11 on: 6 February 2019, 22:06:36
The quality of them had gone to ##### as well.  X7 and X8 were dumpster fires.  BN took a destructive pokemon turn splitting the last 4 games into 2 versions, watering down 1 games worth of content, and the gameplay was also considerably weaker than the first 3.  Star Force was just #####, period.  Zero was either love it or hate it, and ZX was just an objectively awful version of Zero.

Quality was just non existent AND they dumped it in too large a quantity at the same time.  That's what led to the burn out.
744  MegaMan Series / Classic Series / Re: Mega Man 11 on: 5 February 2019, 19:51:49
They're only over because Capcom decided to end it.  They could make new Mega Man games.  Easily.  And they'd make money on them.  Just not the AMOUNT of money they want to make.  So they'd rather not make any money at all.

746  MegaMan Series / Classic Series / Re: Mega Man 11 on: 5 February 2019, 18:22:40
Capcom's net good will is still deep in the toilet.  They're going to have to several years of doing it right again before they earn that back.  From me at least.

And nearing a million sales on MM11 is a good sign indeed.  Though I'm far more interested in Mega Man 12 than X9.  Hopefully they dip their toe into a Legends Collection next.
747  MegaMan Series / Classic Series / Re: Mega Man 11 on: 4 February 2019, 14:54:59
I'm still honestly not looking forward to any possible X9 given how ##### Mega Man Zero is and how ##### X has been for a solid 4 games straight.  Capcom's head is way too far up it's own horrible lore ass to make a good X game.  I have no faith it won't be #####.

Falcon Armor:  Decent in X5, Mediocre in X6
Gaea Armor:  #####
Blade Armor:  Mediocre
Shadow Armor:  Awesome
Glide Armor:  Okay I guess...

No, limited runs don't help, and make a bad precedent.  It just pushes prices up unnecessarily and encourages scalpers.  I will say of Limited Run Games specifiically, they're going the right direction with doing open preorders not specific number runs for their Switch stuff.  But ideally it would all be normal retail with numbers that make scalping unprofitable.
