You'd be better spending that money on your honeymoon or something than the wedding itself.  That's just a party for friends and family anyway.

55 Hours in and I finally beat La-Mulana 2.  I liked the game.  A lot of quality of life improvements over 1, though 1 still has better music (if using the OG chiptunes), and overall I still like the first game better.  2 is definitely less obtuse, but still has so much you have to keep track of I think most people would need a guide to finish it.  Keep in mind though, you still have to be able to DO what the guide says.  The game has stretches that are HARD.  Great games both though, and I highly recommend them.

I wish Secret had a better remake.  It's a remake in the best sense, but it's also down to the jankey hit detection and what not.  That should have been fixed.  Trials still looks a remake but it's farther from the original than Secret's was.
555  MegaMan Series / X Series / Re: Mega Man X Dive on: 30 April 2020, 16:21:25
I want her official 3D Model.  The extra Key are is just a bonus.  Once she's out it just bonus outfits for her.  I think they've hit most all the female X cast, and I don't have any real interest in anything Zero/ZX since the style clashes so badly with X if you put them together, and classic has all of like 4 female characters, and one doesn't have legs.

Though I'm loath to recommend digital #####, you should look for Blaster Master Zero 1 and 2, and grab Cuphead while you can.  BM0 doesn't look like it's ever getting a retail release, and who knows if Cuphead's is ever coming out.  Plus Microsoft could pull it off the Switch eshop any time.  Castle Crashers is also made for the Switch.

Beat La-Mulana 1 and working my way through 2.  Love both games.  1 is pretty much a "requires guide to play" game, and 2, while a LOT more friendly in that regard hit the point where I lost patience and just started using a guide in places.  Both are still tons of fun even with guides though.  Once I'm done I may go back and try to finish Blasphemous.  I dropped it close to the end, because I just couldn't beat a boss, and the game honestly isn't that fun for me Metroidvania wise.
562  MegaMan Series / Zero Series / Re: MMZ opinion war on: 20 April 2020, 16:58:33
To be fair, a lot of GBA games would have benefited from not being on the GBA though.  ALL the SNES ports would have as the GBA didn't have the screen resolution, the audio quality, or the buttons needed to port.  Games like the two Metroid releases suffered from lack of buttons from a purely gameplay point, and EVERYTHING suffered from the garbage audio chip the GBA had.

Keep in mind Super Metroid, while still an amazing game that holds up well, was among the first of it's kind, and we've improved the formula over the last 30 years.
569  MegaMan Series / X Series / Re: Mega Man X Dive on: 31 March 2020, 21:13:43
Seriously, why would anyone expect this to be a good game?  It's designed purely to get you to pay money for unlocks just like every other mobile f2p moba in existence.  You will never get solid balanced gameplay/level design out of that because it would defeat the purpose of the game.

The fact they've done so much on original art (and art that looks amazing and not horrid like a certain other Capcom gatcha), original 3D models, and original music remixes is almost baffling given the overall ##### actual game play.  I'll take the assets though.  I just hope we eventually get HQ versions of the stills.
570  MegaMan Series / X Series / Re: Mega Man X Dive on: 27 March 2020, 14:47:19
She's not been officially announced as playable, just added to the artwork with ALL THE OTHER PLAYABLE characters.  I thought given they've show her art and the new header art that has her was pretty much a solid confirmation and that when it launched she'd be there.  But she isn't.

I was never going to play this Free to Play mobile ##### anyway, I just wanted the art assets (key art, first official 3D model) and what not that could be reused in other actual good fan projects.  The 3D models are surprisingly good.  Way too good for this type of horse ##### gatcha free to play garbage.

I might have to look back into it if you can remap the buttons.  I haven't played any of them since they were originally released.
573  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: What game are you playing? on: 24 March 2020, 19:50:22
I am finally playing Super Metroid for the first time on SNES mini  :D

...how are you JUST now playing Super Metroid for the first time?  Well, enjoy it, because they never made one as good as that again.  Zero Mission was an ok remake of 1 in SM style, but lack of buttons on GBA hurt it.  AM2R is the best SM style remake of Metroid 2, I highly recommend it.

I on the other hand just got my hands on La-Mulana 1 and 2 for Switch, and I love it.  The remake of 1 gives you the option for the infinitely superior chiptune soundtrack over the remake remixes of them.  The Vita port didn't let you do that.  Also playing through Blasphemous on Switch.
574  MegaMan Series / ZX Series / Re: Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection announced! on: 23 March 2020, 21:59:24
Where do you map buttons from?  I must have missed that, but buttons as assigned for the GBA games make them all but unplayable for me.  I detest not being able to disable the 2nd screen on the DS games.  None of the options they give you are good.  But that's just a problem of porting DS/3DS games to one screen platforms.

I haven't been paying too much attention to Teppen, but some of the art is nice. Some of it is odd and then X's redesign was pretty unnecessary... somehow makes X8 style look acceptable.

Game was boring for me though. Played a few stories and then never played it again.

Keep in mind it's also mobile garbage, and designed as such.  That's why it's even more puzzling they spent actual money on new art for this, especially when it's so bad.

583  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: The MOVIE Thread on: 2 January 2020, 18:27:44
I saw Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, and while I thought it was underwhelming, I thought it was a fine end to the Skywalker saga. My main issue is that it spent a lot of time apologizing for The Last Jedi, but hey, maybe it was headed in this direction anyway when they were originally mapping the sequel trilogy.

Mapping the sequel trilogy?  They had not road map.  It was done in the most haphazard way possible.  It's been well documented by leaks from multiple sources that it was a cluster ##### behind the scenes the entire way through.  And frankly, looking at the movies we got, it explains everything.

I was unsatisfied with season 2 of One-Punch Man because they put zero effort into #####ting it out.  But that's a well known secret.  Even if you didn't compare it to the amazing job season 1 did, 2 would be sub par just on it's own.

But that's why you read the manga, which I do.

I've seen a bit of Mob Psycho 100.  It's ok.

I have never, and never will be, a huge fan of multiplayer games for the most part.  It's always fun to play a game of Mario Kart or Turtles in Time or Castle Crashers, but I much prefer single player games.   You can enjoy them any time, any where, and don't need friends to play.
587  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: The MOVIE Thread on: 18 December 2019, 19:57:34
I'm not a screen writer, but we've had good movies based on properties.

The original Mortal Kombat wans't too bad overall.
Clue is the best board game adaptation ever done (and a good movie to boot).

I'm sure i could come up with more if I thought about it, but off the top of my head that's what pops up.

590  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: What game are you playing? on: 11 December 2019, 14:53:01
Just finished Raging Loop on Switch (also on PS4), a visual novel.  Man, it was quite good.  I dumped 12 hours into the first day, actually staying up all night to play it.  I think all in I have a good 20+ hours and beating it unlocks a lot of extra content to play through.

Of course I use "play" loosely, and there is no actual game play.  This is literally a book with pictures and music, so very much on the novel side of visual novel.  But the story and characters kept me going and going.  I really liked it.

While I generally like visual novels with more actual game play elements this one is a solid choice for fans of the genre.  I strongly recommend it.

Picked up Bloodstained Ritual of the Night for Switch now that the patch is out for it.  It's still pretty rough in some places (Tower of Twin Dragons), but overall runs about the same as the PS4 version currently does (and this patch for Switch also has some fixes the PS4 version has not yet got).

I think it looks fine, plays well enough (though still buggy noticeably unacceptable level of polish, but that's true of every version sadly), and the only real drawback is the cart largely useless without downloaded updates/patches rendering it equal to having just got it digitally.  Still highly recommend the game as the bones of it are 10/10, the technical snafus just highlight how unfortunate it is they are in holding this gem back.

Mobile is where it really developed into the cancer it is though.  It was just a minor annoyance on consoles.  Mobile turned it into a money making typhoon.  Then it bleed back into console games proper in a far more prominent and invasive form.  You can still find a substantial number of normal/traditional console games, even if it's becomming alarmingly freemiumized.  Mobile is all freemium pay to win #####, full stop.  It's the only model that exists on mobile, and it's been so ingrained and conditioned that's all mobile will ever be.  Are there 1 or 2 apps out of 100 million that aren't total free to play #####?  Maybe.  But it doesn't change what mobile is in it's absolute totality.
596  MegaMan Series / Classic Series / Re: MEGA MAN 11 SELLS 1 MILLION COPIES! on: 27 November 2019, 14:33:49

597  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: What game are you playing? on: 26 November 2019, 22:19:25
We already live in a world with all the restrictions Rez mentioned on FULL PRICE RETAIL games. At that point, why is a free-to-play game somehow worse than that?

And that's ENTIRELY due to free to play making so much money.  F2P is a cancer, and it's spread to proper gaming platforms.  F2P is still just as bad, but now it's all but ruining proper games too.  That's why I'd say F2P is still far, far worse.

Add to that being primarily mobile (though it leaks more and more into console games) that have no physical controls, so even THAT has to be dumbed down to work with no game pad (no one carries a game pad with them to whip out to play phone games either),

I know you won't, but you should check out the Game Vice controller. I got one for review and it's absolute tits, and there's plenty of mobile gaming companies that work with them. It's especially handy for first-person shooters like, say, Dead Trigger 2, or fighting games. If you play a lot of mobile games because of a commute or in between classes, it's a good investment.

It's more to the fact if I'm going to carry a #####ing GAME CONTROLLER around with me I'll just carry an actual portable game system, like a DS/3DS/Switch.  The point of arguing a phone is a good mobile game device because you always have it on you is stupid because you need an actual controller to play anything that resembles a real game, and you wouldn't carry one of those.
600  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: What game are you playing? on: 22 November 2019, 19:39:29
Free to play is inherently bad and can never be good BECAUSE it's free to play.  The basic building blocks mandate the game function on just being playable enough to frustrate people into paying extra to, among other things: skip cool downs, play levels, complete tasks, access basic content that is standard parts of actual games, keep playing at all, make you powerfull enough to actually be able to progress, etc, etc.

Add to that being primarily mobile (though it leaks more and more into console games) that have no physical controls, so even THAT has to be dumbed down to work with no game pad (no one carries a game pad with them to whip out to play phone games either), and most being built around perpetual updates/games as service ##### and I refuse to entertain that free to play is or ever can be good.  And for good measures, it's also digital only, a cardinal sin.

The very market of it is literal cancer to solid and balanced game play and design, full stop.
