The point being that owning the NES cartridge of MM1 is a hell of a lot more "collectible" than saying "I own MM1.... on the MMAC". You don't own MM1, you own MMAC, which has x number of games on them in an inferior version (port that behaves differently than the original). It is disingenuous to say you have MM1 when in fact you have a cheap knock off.

Deadpool confirmed. AND HE HITS YOU WITH HIS OWN LIFE BAR! This game confirmed for GOD TIER. That alone makes this a purchase for me. The only way this is going to suck is if the Mega Man character is MMZ/ZX/SF related. Though I'd prefer no BN.
If this ends up with MMX Zero and Phoenix Wright... oh god. OH GOD IT WOULD BE THE BEST THING EVER.

MegaMan Matrix / The Creation Station / Rez Still Does Game Soundtracks! Punch-Out!! Wii!!!!!!!
|
on: 11 May 2010, 04:23:21
|
So besides H I like video game music. Here is a rather large project I just completed with some help from Splashman. It's a complete soundtrack for the Wii Punch-Out. The final result is 155 tracks including as best as we could tell a few unused tracks that don't actually show up in game but were on the disc. The big bits concerning what may be "missing" or is just non-existant is as follows: As near as we can tell from the data ripped from the game disc, the following tracks do not exist: 1. Head to Head Lose Match - this does not appear in the game itself that I could find 2. Head to Head Game Over - This does not appear in the game itself that I could find 3. Classic Game Over - This does not appear in the game nor disc itself that I could find, dispite classic remixes of both the win/lose game themes 4. Training Themes - These appear to only be from cinima audio and are mixed with bgm/voice 5. Boxer Intros - The intro themes for the boxers appear to only be in the videos with no music data on the disc by itself 6. Ending Cinima - Appears to only be available in the cinima mixed with bgm/voice 7. Donkey Kong Intro - Donkey Kong does not have an intro movie nor theme before the match Unused tracks on game disc: Classic Win Match - Is not used for any of the fights or modes that I could find Classic lose Match - Is not used for any of the fights or modes that I could find 332384430.lwav - I can't find this track anywhere in game and no idea what it could have been used for "wii fit" section maybe? Doc Lewis' Punch-Out!! No tracks from the Wii Ware "sequal"/mini game appear on the Punch-Out!! game disc. Cover art for those who like it (though it's embedded in each track) Link 1: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=55EW3UF5Link 2: http://www.gigasize.com/get.php?d=vskomjf6otbThis one was rough around the edges in lots of places (some tracks were composed to loop smoothly, others not so much). Anyway, I hope you all like it.

My only complaint about IM2 WAS the fact it was rather light on the action. Even so, it was still a great movie, and more action would have elevated it above the first. Though as is I'd say they were both about even. Both excellent movies.

Well, I saw it this weekend, and I have to say, for what it was, it was pretty good. The end kind of came up a bit fast and the last sequence kind of made me wtf as far as the back and foreth between Copy Robot and Mega Man, but other than that, I was pleased.
Of course you can sit down and nit pick the thing to death (I won't), but I will say I thought Wily made the movie. I just wish his hair and 'stach would have been all white (there I go nit picking).
It does have it's fair share of cringe moments (which aren't all bad really) but it's a college film. And I will say that this thing is INFINITELY better done on all levels than 90% of all the other game to movie franchises out there (Resident Evil, Mario, Double Dragon, Street Fighter, Doom, et al).
A good effort!

You're assuming people actually got them, since you didn't automatically get the skills from beating them, you had to clear the stage in 15 seconds killing every enemy and not taking a single hit to earn them.

Unless they drop the "HUGE OVERARCHING STORY ALL SERIES MUST BE CONNECTED OMG" bull##### that's strangling the franchise I don't want to see ANY of it. The fact they back doored in ##### to MM10 for their new plot revision pisses me off. If they can't just make a simple game that's NOT overpowered by having to be some cog in a grandiose narrative we won't get a good game.
That being said, based entirely on what he said, it won't be a new game in any franchise, obviously, and it won't be Legends 3 or X9 (the latter based entirely on another recent interview from Inafking).
I really can't think of ANYTHING that it could be that I would give one ##### about.

MegaMan Series / X Series / Re: GENERAL X SERIES ENQUIRIES
|
on: 27 April 2010, 15:20:38

X1 - The Pennicle of the series, 2nd best Mega Man game ever made, one of the best VIDEO games ever made PERIOD. X2 - Great Game X3 - Great Game X4 - Excellent Game X5 - Ok Game X6 - Mediocre Game X7 - Universally considered a crime against Mega Man, one of the worst Mega Man games ever made, if not THE worst. X8 - Poor Game
X1. It is the Alpha. It is the Omega. This game is about as close to perfect as it gets. Weapons, bosses, stages. All top tier. The soundtrack is legendary. There is no debate on this. Anyone who argues that ANY other X game is better than this one is wrong. And as an aside, MHX is INFINITELY inferior to X1. It is a textbook example of trying to fix what wasn't broken, and even taking it as an "update" it failed miserably by butchering the remixes, revising the plot (gotta make MMZ/ZX make sense lol), and using 2.5D which is sloppy as hell compared to the crisp and perfectly refined sprite based 2D.
X4, while not as good as 1-3 in terms of physics or even stage design beats 2 and 3 for me simply because of Zero. Hell, X4 might as well be the only TRUE Mega Man Zero game, as Zero outshines X's mode by a mile. He plays on God Tier level and the game transformes into something beyond a normal X game while using him. Sadly, this is not the case in X5 or X6.
X7 is, of course, a total failure in EVERY regard from the fangasm wanna be character Axl (This game is really Mega Man Axl) to the HORRID 3D stages and gameplay. This is a game that should never have been sent out the door, much less green lighted in the first place.
X8 is by definition, NOT X7, so of course it's "good". But the fact remains the 2.5D style is still and will ALWAYS be inferior to the tightness of true 2D design. The game is a mess with 3 playables, the stage design is even WORSE than X6 (and that's bad) and while going back to it's "2D roots" they threw away the signature heart tank/sub tank system for the awful shop system. The Art direction was simply disgusting and if not for MMZ, would be the single worst in the franchise. The plot goes beyond awful in a way that even I didn't think they could do given what a can of ##### Capcom and Inafune managed to twist it into.

... don't quote Wikipedia for ##### like that. Just... don't.
As others have said though, I don't think classic Mega Man will show up though. the style looks pretty dark and gritty. My bet is on X or Zero personally. And not MMZ Zero. The art style in that is just as cutesy as classic and wouldn't fit for the same reason.
But we all know Roll will be there. She's always there. She's the Ryu of Street Fighter of Mega Man in Fighting games.

Sure is some asspull retconning there Capcom. My favorite part is how now Light made X because he wanted a robot that was immune to viruses. Though I will say, it makes the STILL horridly named "Elf Wars" much MUCH less gay as it sounds like it's just X going around with a laptop using it to run antivirus on Mavericks instead of having cute floaty elfs sparkling beside him.
Did anyone else also notice that the horrible US box info of Mega Man Zero 1 is now correct? That "After being turned good by the Sigma virus" blurb we all laughed at is true now!
....ah. It's all just so damn silly I can't even get mad at it anymore. I just have to chuckle as they just keep revising and revising.
At least we know what 10's subtitle meant now eh?

Charge shot breaks the game. Slide is great. Look at Mega Man 3. The game played great. It gives Mega Man a nice boost and adds some variety to level design.
I'd honestly rather nix all the extra playables. It really just waters the game down. Mega Man is more than enough. Making every damn person playable is just going in the wrong direction. Not a big fan of Duo either. He can stay away forever as far as I'm concerned.
Wily not as final boss? I could go for that if they do it right, but I'd rather they just focus on Mega Man trying to stop another crazy fellow and just leave Wily out all together if they do that, because Wily doesn't play second fiddle to ANYONE (Yes, Mega Man 5 GB sucked #####).

The Wily stages were good, but aside from Wily Stage Entrance and Wily Stage 1, the music for MM9s Castle was MUCH better (We're The Robots FTW). I did, however, love that we got a fortress battle theme, unlike in 9.

It's more of the fact that any form of challenge is gone.
It's not meant for people who could beat it on normal. And normal isn't THAT hard. It's also not necessarily a tool to make them better. It's there so they can beat the game.

Jesus... Bass is easy mode on his own. Imagine playing Bass on Easy mode...
And I wouldn't exactly call easy mode "an insult to Mega Man players". There are people who can't beat a level even if it was just an empty hall with no enemies. Easy mode lets them play the game. So what? It's not like they built the game IN easy mode and the normal (or hard) difficulty got nerfed because of it. They just took the normal levels, and added (or subtracted) things so the talentless can enjoy the game. I don't get the anger toward it all.

Lunar Silver Star Harmoney. After something like 2 years, it was nice to dust off the PSP and get some of the obscene amount of money I spent on it back out of the damn thing. ANYWAY, being one of my favorite RPGs I was quite excited for this, even if it was on PSP. The game is simply #####ING AWESOME. I have but two complaints on it. The first is when you (or a monster) does ANY special move the screen goes black and all the animation plays out. The black void is annoying. I would have prefered to just keep the battle background up for it. The second complaint is targeting things. When you're all clumped up close, it's VERY hard to make out who is being targeted, even with whoever is selected glowing and a feather above them, it's THAT tight and the sprites are that jumbled.
Those are really kind of minor though, just annoying things that they could have fixed. The music remixes are grand, the graphics are beautiful and oh so cute! Interface is a bit less easy to use, but it offers a lot more options and looks a lot better.

Apparently not, because I have good reason to hate it. Again, I don't get how that's mindless at all.
Your complaints are hollow, as the weapon works fine if you use it right. You apparently are not happy it's not a pew pew shooty weapon so it sucks. Your analysis on why the weapon "sucks" is completely flawed because of your expectations of how it should work. The only thing you have any credibility on in your argument is it eats energy way too fast, but that's not a new problem. Long story short, the weapon works just fine, isn't bad, you can't seem to use it properly so you hate it. Looks pretty unjustified to me.
