701  MegaMan Series / Classic Series / Re: The Official Mega Man 10 Topic. on: 12 December 2009, 01:28:08
I'm just remembering when a lot of people at RPM were saying the Nintendo Power scans of Mega Man 9 were fake. They're probably keeping quiet now.

Also, not meaning to pick on Rez or anything, but his opinion has practically flip-flopped between the announcements MM9 and MM10.

Of course, with Inticreates at the helm we're guarenteed a pice of ##### no matter what, but one can hope.  I shall, as Capcom has taught me to, belive this game will be awful until it proves to be good.

9 was not without flaws, but it was good overall (coming from Inti that in itself was astounding), so I'll assume 10 will be good until I'm proven wrong.

Overall, I hope the game itself maintains what Mega Man 9 had.

That's because you're not making any investment at all.

While that might sound good, it can actually bite you in the butt because now I'm thinking you're a cheapskate not willing to take a chance and/or does not have that much faith in your business.

Mine have yet to come.

Some girl in one of my history classes asked for extra help on the final exam, and I was nodding my head because I would like to know what I can do academically too. Others were thinking the same thing as well. He's not really great at lecturing the subject. You practically have to learn it yourself.

He practically told the girl to go screw herself.

I have another who's great at teaching it, but then you get the exam and a lot of what's on the test ISN'T what he lectured in class.

Two of my classes have the same teacher, who although is easy as long as you do your work, seems to be very forgetful and clumsy. She often misplaces lesson plans, forgets to grade homework, or forgets to mention that an assignment is due and pushes the deadline back.

My Philosophy teacher is awesome though. Only 4 grades in the class: Attendance, 4-6 page paper on anything philosophical, Mid-Term, and Final. The questions on the Mid-Term and the Final are on the Syllabus he handed out on day one, so you just research that throughout the semester and you're good.

My finals come next Tuesday and Thursday.

I haven't played it, but if I could post what Nova Man told me over AIM about it, it's this:

"It's not bad, just not worth the $30+"

In other words, it's a waste of your money. As for a waste of time, you be the judge.
707  MegaMan Series / Classic Series / Re: Fan Made Mega Man 10!! on: 11 December 2009, 17:45:05
This topic name needs changing, because due to the Mega Man 10 announcement last Wednesday, MegaPhilX got swarmed with comments about how his videos are misleading. He put annotations on all of them that night, blocking out the "10" and promised they would be changed, and the videos said (Working Title) next to them.

Currently, he's renamed his game project to "Mega Man ??"

712  MegaMan Series / Legends Series / Re: Rabble if you want Legends 3 on: 29 November 2009, 06:25:06
Well, look at the history of things. Konami devoted their MGS series to Playstation, and look at the trouble it's causing me. I can't play the darn thing.

Legends so far is a Playstation only game (Mega Man 64 doesn't count). While it would make MORE sense to put it on both platforms, which I hope they do, I just know that putting it on the PS3 will create a similar situation to MMPU and MHX.

I can't afford a 360 at the moment, but I do want one, since it does have some promising games and is working out better than the Wii.

If they somehow figure out how to work it with the Wii though, by all means, go for it. Just give me some Legends goodness.

EDIT: Naturally Nova, that's more of a Nintendo gimmick. I doubt Capcom will be making that their foundation.

Posted on: 29 November 2009, 05:50:55

This quote from Phillip makes me happy and brings good reason as to why Capcom should make MML3 for the Wii:

As Legends is a series that has been largely ignored by Capcom in recent years, Capcom needs to make people who are unaware of it and those who may have forgotten about it remember it again.

With "Trigger" in TvC, the Wii is an obviously place to start.  Building on his appearance in that, Capcom would be wise to bring Mega Man Legends (Or Mega Man 64 if legal reasons are in the way of that) to Nintendo's Wiiware.

Mega Man Legends and Mega Man Legends 2 should also be brought to the Xbox Live Arcade and PSN Store, as well. And while a PSP version of Mega Man Legends was appreciated it, the PSP should not have been the only system to receive this.  The Nintendo DS, which has a significantly larger marketplace than the PSP, should also receive at least one of the games.

This etablishment (which is easy on both the clock and Capcom's wallet), would pave the way for the long-awaited third installement of the series. While TvC would raise brand awareness of Mega Man Legends on the Wii, it should not necessarily be on the Wii or exclusive.

Capcom could create it as a Xbox 360/PlayStation 3 game using the Lost Planet 2 engine (or Dead Rising engine) to speed development time along.  If the company does not see that as a logical proposition, a smaller in budget Wii version should be made. The graphics in this version would recall the simplier styles of Legends 1 and 2, and would likely be cell-shaded.

However, it should not be a rail shooter. Under no circumstances should Legends 3 be a rail shooter. It would go against the heart of the series (exploration). The Wii is over saturated with rail shooters as it is, and Legends 3 as one would be simply superflorous.  If anything, it should take its predecssors and RE4: Wii Edition as a building block as inspiration for it's controls.

And once Capcom decides to create a Legends 3, they should create pre-release hype through an official site, as Capcom is curently doing with Super Street Fighter IV and Nintendo did with Super Smash Bros Brawl. It is easy, cheap, and highly effective.

And I would like to mention I consider it an honor to be having this discussion with you, Seth.

714  MegaMan Series / Legends Series / Re: Rabble if you want Legends 3 on: 29 November 2009, 03:35:25
Unfortunately, I only have a Wii and can't afford another console at the moment. Unless it's possibly for the Wii, I'll get it in a heartbeat. If it's for the 360, I'll be wanting a 360 until I get it. If it's for the PS3, chances are, I won't be getting it anytime soon.

What's this about not watching TV? This wasn't a TV event. It's not like they televised it like a Showtime boxing match between Chris Brown and Rihanna.

It was just pop-culture news is all.

Yeah, I don't watch TV, news, and other media things as I've mentioned before. Similar to statements above, it's either too negative or just absolutely pointless to know about. It's like someone is getting shot, raped, or murdered in some way and the news has to report it.

With that said, I only check a few websites and media articles, and I'm okay with that.

737  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: What game are you playing? on: 20 November 2009, 21:21:46
You don't get classic controller support because they want to shove the motion sensor feature down your throat.

That's why so many elements utilize it.

It's ironic that the Wii's main attempt at innovation is the primary flaw in all its top tier titles.

I only began to realize this when I bought Punch-Out!!

Because the game is great when it plays like a NES controller with the remote sideways, but when you go to the menu, you can't just use the D-Pad, oh no. You have to actually point at the screen to navigate anything.

I only like it as a secondary option. Like Rez said, they don't pull this crap on the DS. I have games that are designed for touching the screen, but I'm just much more comfortable playing it with the buttons alone.

Playing NSMBWII.  I have only one complaint on it, and that's the control scheme isn't great. [...]   Why Nintendo DIDN'T build in support for a classic controller scheme is beyond me.

[...]

If they'd fixed the controls, this would be God Tier Mario.  As it is, it's only High tier.

Don't own the game, but I intend to. I'm still looking forward to it, but that's definitely surprising. I mean, I personally WOULDN'T expect playing this game with a nunchuk, so I would've thought Nintendo would've made it Classic Controller compatible.

Posted on: 18 November 2009, 23:29:17

Just to add a note, has anyone played the Mutiplayer on the original NSMB? It is MAD fun (maybe an exaggeration but I don't care). So much stuff could happen. Killing your friends was so much fun, when I heard about co-op in this game, it brought back some great memories.

No you're fine. I've said stupid stuff before, so forgive and forget.

But one last comment I want to make. Spoiler tagged so we can get back on topic:
History is boring.

You're doomed to repeat it if you know what it is or not.

And JC, if it's any consolation, I've spent the last few years studying international history for school, and I've learned all sorts of stuff. That said: having gone from uneducated to relatively informed, I don't feel as though my life as really been enriched in any significant way. It's good stuff to know in terms of culture, but it has absolutely zero practical value to the average person.

Fair statements, and sure an intimate knowledge of the world's history has no practical value to anyone who isn't that field, but a general level of assumed knowledge in the are is important for anyone who wants to live in, um, society. I don't expect everyone to know every name or date but to actually know nothing, and to aspire to know nothing, is ridiculous and gets you exactly nowhere. But I'm sure you know that, I'm clearly just speaking generally.

Yeah, that's fair. Mike practically said why you should know History. Sure, there may be some very irrelevant things in history that happened, but there's going to be a scenario where you'll be interacting socially, watching something, doing something, whatever... and knowing the basic background of it might be important. Naturally, you wouldn't go buy a house without knowing how it was built, for example.

Although nobody mentioned it: as for actually LIKING History, I suppose it's just a taste. I love it. It's almost like a big story book or film transcript to me. Others say it's absolute torture and boring.
And that's the most awesome squirrel I've ever seen.
743  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: What game are you playing? on: 17 November 2009, 02:15:59
The best way I could explain the game to someone very quickly: It's like Super Mario 64 meets Super Mario Bros.

It takes all the classic side scrolling feel and adds new ways to play with moves like pounding the ground, double jump, triple jump, wall climb, etc.

But now I'm just repeating what Alec said.
744  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: What game are you playing? on: 16 November 2009, 20:54:13
Oh, I can't get passed World 4 in Lost Levels. Darn springs and timing jumps. Why does the gap have to be so large anyway? It's almost as difficult as my early stages I made in Mega Man Powered Up!

And is the 1-Up system broken in that game? I mean, it was just insane in the original NSMB.

745  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: The Interesting Stuff thread! on: 16 November 2009, 20:46:49
That's the thing, if you're involved socially, you need to study socially. That's why it's called Social Studies. You learn why a certain culture acts a certain way or why something happened through history.

Also, history is always changing to an extent, because we're always reformulating it due to recent discovery. Although you're right that if someone dies, you can't undo their death, it's important to understand how and why it occurred. Although it's in the past, the subject will come up over and over again to this very day and in the future. History just provides so many answers about your life and what path you should take. Your economy, for example, has been formulated in a way to avoid times like the 1930s.

You're saying this now, but you might change your mind.
746  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: The Interesting Stuff thread! on: 16 November 2009, 19:43:44
Yeah, like... Vinch. Seriously.

I can write an essay why history is important, but here's just a small sample derived from a famous quote.

Person A who lived in the year 1500 falls into a hole, and dies of starvation.

Person B who lives in present day LEARNED from the history of Person A, and avoids said hole.

Person C who lives in present day said screw it, falls into said hole, and dies of starvation.

"Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it." ~George Santayana

Here's an entire list of quotes.

I just recently did a report on the Crash of 1929, and how it's relevant to our daily lives. The issue with the crash was because Government didn't control the economy or the market. After the crash, we've learned from them, respected our failures and successes, so we don't repeat it.

By your logic, you shouldn't care. You shouldn't care what happens to your neighbor or economy, or who runs into power. That's extremely foolish, and I never thought you would say that. Really.
747  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: What game are you playing? on: 16 November 2009, 19:28:41
Ummm, Halo will never be as fun as Mario and Mario will never be as fun as Halo.

There isn't a single word I disagree with there. I know what you're implying, but your statement doesn't prove or disprove anything, except that one game stinks and the other doesn't. Halo has been overrated, and I've given it a shot. It's way too poor of a FPS and is widely considered as the most OVERRATED video game of this generation, and I agree. Halo has never been an outrageous amount of fun.

But I can name SEVERAL Mario games where they are a blast. Some are too easy, some on rare occasions, are somewhat difficult (Lost Levels). They've mixed formulas and changed things around. He's one character that's stood the test of time. I buy Mario games because they're fun. When it comes to FPS, I'm better off buying Call of Duty or the new Modern Warfare 2 game.

Seriously, I've WATCHED Call of Duty be played, and it's more entertaining than actually PLAYING Halo 2 or 3.

Quite frankly, your statements only seem to indicate that you have never played on a Wii, played a Mario game, or you're just a straight up EXBAWKS FANBOI.
