This is not true. It is only a name if you are referring to a god named God. There are many gods. Naturally, however, he WAS referring to such a god and did need to capitalise, but the atheist bit is neither here nor there. An atheist is still a name. I capitalise Santa Claus, but I don't believe he exists (.... anymore ::greedo grin:.

First off, you use a comma after it and capitalize the letter I. There's also an apostrophe right there so it would look like "I'm". You also capitialize "For" and "God" since God is technically a name, unless you're atheist. There's also a missing period at the end there.
