Title: Three great Wii games
Post by: riakage on 17 December 2007, 02:37:15
I think that these are three extremely good Wii games(and my favorite three games) and I was wondering which one people though was the best.

1.) Why such a limited choice?
2.) Definitely not Sonic.

Psh, Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition beats Sonic anyday.

I'm still playing it and I got it in AUGUST.

All I know is that when I started playing my copy of Secret Rings, I was far more disgusted and horrified than anything Resident Evil can cook up.

Now, rub the ring!

Title: Re: Three great Wii games
Post by: Mikero on 17 December 2007, 05:22:20
I'd have to finish Mario Galaxy before deciding, but even though Galaxy is great so far I'd probably pick Twilight Princess.

Mario #####s all over the other 2.

Secret Rings sucks.
This topic sucks, I'm thinkin' we're going to need the Wasteland if this kid keeps making topics.

1.) Why such a limited choice?
2.) Definitely not Sonic.

Sonic hasn't rocked anymore since S3&K in my opinion.

Although Brawl could change things for the better.

Best Wii games I've played so far:
1.) Super Mario Galaxy
2.) RE4 Wii
3.) LoZ: Twilight Princess
4.) Rayman: Raving Rabbids
5.) Mario Party 8

Title: Re: Three great Wii games

Replace Raving Rabbids with Smooth Moves.

Title: Re: Three great Wii games
Post by: NovaMan XP on 17 December 2007, 23:59:07
Haven't actually played Smooth Moves yet... ever. >_>

I plan to eventually. Low on funds.

Title: Re: Three great Wii games
Post by: ASR on 18 December 2007, 00:09:22
Top Wii games on my list:

1) Mario Galaxy
2) Metroid Prime 3
3) WarioWare: Smooth Moves (the ultimate casual play game, and if you give it a months rest every once in a while you'll even stay satisfied single-player-wise)
4) RE4:Wii (it's a remake so I won't put it too high up there)
5) Mario Strikers Charged

Soon to add to the list among the very top: Brawl and Mario Kart.

Title: Re: Three great Wii games
Post by: Captain Sanoguchi on 18 December 2007, 00:11:16
Dude, ASR, I feel the exact same way as you about Smooth Moves.
Might we be kindred spirits?

Title: Re: Three great Wii games
Post by: NovaMan XP on 18 December 2007, 00:11:51
Brawl's definitely gonna take the #1 spot in February.

Title: Re: Three great Wii games
Post by: Captain Sanoguchi on 18 December 2007, 00:12:44
Right next to No More Heroes, hopefully.

Title: Re: Three great Wii games
Post by: ASR on 18 December 2007, 00:21:08
I've always loved the WarioWare series. From the day I put it in the slot to the day I replaced my DS with a lite, I never removed the original WarioWare GBA cart. It's now permanently extruding from my DS Lite, as well.

Title: Re: Three great Wii games
Post by: Johncarllos on 18 December 2007, 00:54:30
I can't friggin wait for "No More Heroes."

Title: Re: Three great Wii games
Post by: Captain Sanoguchi on 18 December 2007, 01:12:52
You can't go wrong with SUDA51, even though Killer7 would have been so much better if it weren't an awkward rail shooter, moving was so annoying.

Title: Re: Three great Wii games
Post by: White Shadow on 18 December 2007, 16:30:35
Twilight Princess was an excellent game... for the Game Cube.

Sorry, boys, ports don't count.

Title: Re: Three great Wii games
Post by: ASR on 18 December 2007, 21:22:43
I feel dumb because I deliberately didn't put Twilight Princess on my list for THAT reason, yet I put up RE4 for some reason.

Title: Re: Three great Wii games
Post by: Mikero on 18 December 2007, 22:12:20
Well the only Twilight Princess I played was the Wii version and I thought it was incredible. The Wii controls were perfect. But I see what WS means about it not counting as a Wii game, being a port.

Title: Re: Three great Wii games
Post by: ASR on 18 December 2007, 22:19:47
Oh, the game IS incerdible. So is the Wii version. I don't think WS was bashing the Wii version, just making the point that it's a port. Same goes for RE4.

Title: Re: Three great Wii games
Post by: Mikero on 18 December 2007, 22:20:24
No I know that, I'm just sayin'.

Title: Re: Three great Wii games
Post by: Captain Sanoguchi on 18 December 2007, 23:20:01
Twilight Princess might just be a port, but you have to admit, the Wii version is far superior to the Gamecube version.

Title: Re: Three great Wii games
Post by: ASR on 19 December 2007, 02:33:45
I said "incerdible."

I love me.

I've never played the Wii version, sadly.

Title: Re: Three great Wii games
Post by: Johncarllos on 19 December 2007, 03:34:42
I played and beat both.
Save for switching the map, I'd have to say that GC handled better, the shield bash was faulty for me with the Wii, and a few minor glitches. Overall still awesome though.

Title: Re: Three great Wii games
Post by: Mikero on 19 December 2007, 08:04:40
The shield was a little difficult to preform, as well as some other things like it, come to think of it. That being said, I never found that stuff useful.

Title: Re: Three great Wii games
Post by: White Shadow on 19 December 2007, 15:29:22
Well the only Twilight Princess I played was the Wii version and I thought it was incredible. The Wii controls were perfect. But I see what WS means about it not counting as a Wii game, being a port.

The Wii controls were more or less replacing a button press swipe with a swipe.

Title: Re: Three great Wii games
Post by: Majikn on 19 December 2007, 20:06:35
Wii doesn't have the C-stick but aiming is probably a lot easier.

They still worked well and it was tons of fun.

Post by: Dopefish on 19 December 2007, 22:13:39
The only one of these I tried was The Twilight Princess(I rented it), it was ok but it seemed that alot of elements were simply recycled from the last games.

Whatever you do, don't buy the Transformers game for Wii....its a frustrating piece of junk, and the control is terrible....I spent 50$ on it and quickly sold it for 20$.

Need For Speed: Carbon and Rayman: Raving Rabbids are the best Wii games yet in my opinion.

I want the new Super Mario Galaxy game though!

Well... it is a Zelda game...

Megaman does worse and sucks at it. At least LoZ is still good.

Well... it is a Zelda game...

True enough! You got to admit though, Zelda has one of the catchiest theme songs of all time! ;)

Title: Re: Three great Wii games

Yes, I certainly do.

Title: Re: Three great Wii games
Post by: ChaosVortex on 20 December 2007, 23:25:41
Megaman does worse and sucks at it. At least LoZ is still good.

Kinda. At least Zelda is one of the GOOD games where keeping the same certain formula keeps it fresh.

Capcom will produce a game that will be pretty decent just like Zelda... until they screw it all up and say "Hey, it's still good, so let's produce MORE of the same #####."

I'm looking at YOU Starforce.

Title: Re: Three great Wii games
Post by: Captain Sanoguchi on 21 December 2007, 00:58:07
Huh... Speaking of Capcom and LoZ, didn't Capcom help make the two Oracle games? I actually liked those.

Title: Re: Three great Wii games
Post by: Mikero on 21 December 2007, 01:08:07
I'm not sure about that but I know they helped make Minish Cap.

Which wasn't good or bad.

Title: Re: Three great Wii games
Post by: Captain Sanoguchi on 21 December 2007, 01:12:20
Yeah, see, it's just another example that Capcom can make and help make good games, like let's think of Dead Rising, Viewtiful Joe et cetera. Capcom can still make good games, as long as they aren't Megaman related.

Title: Re: Three great Wii games
Post by: Mikero on 21 December 2007, 01:14:04
Any company is like that. It depends on the people working on each game, not so much the label they're under.

Title: Re: Three great Wii games
Post by: ASR on 21 December 2007, 01:44:09
Capcom entirely made both Oracle of Ages and Seasons, as well as created the link-up password system between them both. Which was awesome.

Title: Re: Three great Wii games
Post by: Captain Sanoguchi on 21 December 2007, 01:47:28
Yeah, it was pretty awesome.

Title: Re: Three great Wii games

Some fond memories of GBC innovation.

Title: Re: Three great Wii games
Post by: Captain Sanoguchi on 21 December 2007, 02:02:01
I think you mean GBA innovations, the games might have been in GBC cartridges, but it's obvious they were meant to played on the GBA. I mean the timing of the releases of the GBA and the two games and the fact that the games could actually realize when they were in a GBA and provide added content was kind of a dead give away.

Title: Re: Three great Wii games
Post by: ASR on 21 December 2007, 02:06:24
They could realize when they were in a GBA?

Huhwhatnow?

Title: Re: Three great Wii games
Post by: Captain Sanoguchi on 21 December 2007, 02:10:59
Yeah, I mean freaking buildings appeared out of nowhere and the people inside would yell "Hey dude! You got a Gameboy Advance! Awesome! It's Advance from now on for me!" did I mentioning the building was called the Advance store, in which you could buy a heart piece, the Advance Ring (which does absolutely nothing), and some other item of significance.

Title: Re: Three great Wii games
Post by: ASR on 21 December 2007, 02:32:19
Oh. I didn't know that.

I'm pretty sure I played it on a GBA, and if I ever made the connection, I never REALIZED it was odd for a GBC game to recognize it was being played on a GBA. And of course I'd forgotten it.

Title: Re: Three great Wii games
Post by: Mikero on 21 December 2007, 04:06:39
I finished Oracle of Ages and was a quarter of the way into Seasons when both games and my Gameboy Color were stolen.

:-(

Title: Re: Three great Wii games
Post by: KPL on 21 December 2007, 13:37:58
Link's Awakening and the Rod of Seasons are the two best Zelda games, in my opinion. I haven't had the time (and console *sob*) to play any N64 title.

Still, Link's Awakening was the most pleasing to play and finish.

Title: Re: Three great Wii games
Post by: Abominator on 21 December 2007, 13:48:03
Well, get the N64 games for the VC, you dolt!

LA is amazing though...

I've proabably played through it more than any other Zelda.

Title: Re: Three great Wii games
Post by: KPL on 21 December 2007, 14:03:39
I don't have a Wii.. Jus a PS3.

I'll get one soon, though.. And you are right.
But Links Awakening is so well done, I'm completely in love with it. Flying chicken, kidnapped bow-wows, fishing, hard bosses and dungeons.. I'm gonna play it again tonight, yay!

Title: Re: Three great Wii games
Post by: Abominator on 21 December 2007, 16:37:16
I should dig it out sometime too...

Shame I can't play it in my DS.

Title: Re: Three great Wii games
Post by: Mikero on 22 December 2007, 02:11:43
That right there is the only I kept my Gameboy Advance SP, really. That game.

My top 3 Zelda games are OoT, TP, and LA.

Title: Re: Three great Wii games
Post by: ASR on 22 December 2007, 03:58:36
OoT, LttP, and LA. Big time. No brainers for me.

Title: Re: Three great Wii games
Post by: Mikero on 22 December 2007, 08:44:38
I never really got to play LttP much. The pink hair didn't agree with me, though.

Title: Re: Three great Wii games
Post by: KPL on 22 December 2007, 13:21:40
Ah, the memories. I've only played LttP for about 30 minutes. I never had the chance to continue beyond the castle, hehe..

LA I've finished with all the secret seashells and weapons, though. Did anyone get through Dungeon 7 though? It's the one where you need to carry a ball around and throw it against poles to make the tower collapse.
It's the hardest i've ever done!

Title: Re: Three great Wii games
Post by: Abominator on 22 December 2007, 14:18:42
I hated that one.

I don't know if I ever finished the DX LA, now that I think about it...

Title: Re: Three great Wii games
Post by: ASR on 22 December 2007, 21:55:54
Hehe, back in the day I bought Link's Awakening DX even though I already owned the original. LA has some extreme sentimental value for me.

I was just saying to a uni pal the other day how that one was one of most interesting dungeons I have come across in games.

Pffy, LA DX. As good as that game is, it comes nowhere close to OoS.

Oracle of Seasons is the hardest LoZ game I've played... then again, I played that game when I was a little young... however I still remember it being so damn hard, puzzle wise, harder than MM. I was so happy when I beat that game.

Title: Re: Three great Wii games
Post by: ASR on 22 December 2007, 23:09:43
Seasons was better than Ages, but aside from that, I don't really remember as much about it as I want to.

Title: Re: Three great Wii games
Post by: Vinchenz Rock on 22 December 2007, 23:11:57
I've played as many as four playthroughs of OoS and only one of OoA. That's how much I loved it.

Title: Re: Three great Wii games
Post by: Captain Sanoguchi on 23 December 2007, 00:56:21
Dude, you have to admit though, Seasons is way better than Ages.
Seasons focused on combat and obstacles. While Ages focused on puzzles, and it delivered, but I didn't want to receive it, 'cause some of those puzzles were just annoying. For example, that one water based temple in which you had to constantly travel back and forth in time just to finish, and you had to leave just to change the era. That was just annoying.

Title: Re: Three great Wii games
Post by: ASR on 23 December 2007, 01:29:10
How do you guys have such good memories of this stuff?

I need to replay those. I only own a DS, however... blargh.

Title: Re: Three great Wii games
Post by: Captain Sanoguchi on 23 December 2007, 01:32:35
Dude, I know what you mean, people wonder why I can remember things about stuff, and then I wonder why they can't.

Title: Re: Three great Wii games
Post by: ASR on 23 December 2007, 01:42:46
I mean, I have a fairly decent memory, I think, but there are still a few bits of games like Super Mario 64 and Zelda: Ocarina of Time that I forget when people ask me. And I've played those both to death.

It seems MegaMan is the only series immune to that minor forgetfulness.

Title: Re: Three great Wii games
Post by: KPL on 23 December 2007, 01:49:35
Oracle of Seasons is also a game I loved to play. But if I had to compare them, in my first try, LA was harder. This was because of the 7th dungeon which drove me CRAZY.

Title: Re: Three great Wii games
Post by: Panda on 23 December 2007, 09:35:34
IMHO:

LA > OoA > OoS > LoZ > LttP > MC

Title: Re: Three great Wii games
Post by: Vinchenz Rock on 23 December 2007, 17:49:52
OH #####. Did I say Oracle of SEASONS? I meant AGES. <_<;;;;;;;;;;;

Damn, now I feel silly. Ah well, just replace Ages with Season. Yeah, Ages was my favourite for handheld systems. >_>;;;

Title: Re: Three great Wii games
Post by: Mikero on 23 December 2007, 20:37:37
Ah, the memories. I've only played LttP for about 30 minutes. I never had the chance to continue beyond the castle, hehe..

Yeah same here. How that happens I don't know, though. God LADX ruled. I always get the red tunic when I play. The blue looks cooler but extra defense isn't worth it.

Anyway while I didn't get to finish Oracle of Seasons (got stole'd) I did play it and while I was playing it I kept thinking about how I liked Oracle of Ages more, which I did get to finish. Ages was blue, and I liked that it was the puzzley one.

IMHO:

LA > OoA > OoS > LoZ > LttP > MC

Hm. I roll it like this;

OoT ≥ TP > LA > WW > OoA > OoS > LttP > MC > LoZ > 4SA > MM > AoL

Undecided on whether or not TP is lesser or equal to OoT. I haven't played the GBA Four Swords (the Gamecube one sucked hard), or Phantom Hourglass (might pick it up this holiday).

Title: Re: Three great Wii games
Post by: Johncarllos on 24 December 2007, 03:16:09
For ones I've played,

OoT>TP>LttP>MM>PH>WW>LoZ>AoL

Maybe not 100%, but my feelings for each game as of right now.

How can you like Majora's Mask over Wind Waker? How can you even like Majora's Mask at all? I played that game for like a half hour and then never touched it again.

Title: Re: Three great Wii games
Post by: Majikn on 24 December 2007, 05:27:47
I actually liked Majora's Mask. (We've had this conversation before, but yeah.) I still wouldn't put it above The Wind Waker purely because I've gotten no replay value out of Majora's Mask, whereas The Wind Waker is my most replayed Zelda game.

Title: Re: Three great Wii games
Post by: Mikero on 24 December 2007, 08:06:56
I doubt I'll ever play Wind Waker again but I did like it a hellubbalot.

Title: Re: Three great Wii games

Yeah, the masks were the only thing the game had going for it. I still laugh everytime I see link 'belt out a facemelter' when he transforms.

Rayman Raving Rabbids kicked major ass.

Maybe not above Mario, but above sonic.

ANYTHING above sonic(for the Wii anyway).

Rsident Evil 4 Wii Edition ain't bad so far, for a totally non-RE RE game.
