Mighty max was the boy's version of polly pocket.
I found Polly Pocket exceptionally boring. I used my barbies as dress forms for making clothes before cutting their hair off and scribbling on them with Sharpies. I always preferred plushies. The ones from my childhood all have velcro 'scars' from where they were hung on the wall.

First day on payroll.
It's been... eventful, and just me with the kids for the most part.
I honestly don't know why my boss expects me to have absolutely everything down to a science after only two weeks (this being my second time alone with the kids, and nothing was where it was supposed to be), but here's hoping for a little mercy on being half an hour behind schedule.
All the kids are here, too, except one who we took home because of her behaviour following an incident.
We don't have enough cribs for all the babies, either.
edit: nice long lunch = happy penguin.

Today I got the album The String Quartet Tribute to Bad Religion. It's a bunch of covers of BR songs, but done completely in violin, and it sounds amaaaaazing. I'm not a big fan of classical music, but this was just fantastic.

That reminds me: I've been brewing up the idea of an orchestral version of Rush's Tom Sawyer. I seriously want to know if/how it would work. At least the female version of my still sounds exactly the same as one of the male versions of my name, Stefanie/Stephanie and Alexandria/Alicia.
You forgot Alice.

It's loads more common in dress pants, as are side zippers.
I like my jeans to be jeans, personally. I only like side zippers on skirts (for stylistic reasons), and I'm all about the symmetry of a look, so the front fly appeals to me most for any type of casual pants (barring some unique/DIY-type jeans I've seen that I won't go into now).

Volunteering to buff up your resumé helps, especially in a specific field.
I've got over 400 hours of unpaid work.
It also makes it look like you're involved in your community (read: not lazy, self-starting, not in it for the money).

I imagine it's so they don't have to pull their pants all the way off just to go to the bathroom.
Try evading the zipper bulge for a smoother silhouette. Zipper bulge creates mass, be it cock-like or fat-like. There is nothing under your bed Snare.

When we bought our XBOX, it was used, for $60.
We got it with music and map packs for Halo2 already on it.
We have a friend with kids that we play Halo with.
We mostly use Halo2 as a teaching tool for gaming ettiquette. ("Just because your sister had to use the washroom doesn't mean you get a free kill," "Dude, you've got a higher-level player to ##### around with, stop slaughtering the girls," et cet.)
The boy is addicted to Runescape, new technology (it's new and more expensive so it's obviously better, right?), and sitting on his ass.
We're helping him be more social.
On general topic: I beat the Elite Four and earned my Nat. Pokedex.
This is the first time I've gotten to play a game all the way through (not counting that in Disgaea, if Mid-Boss kills you the first time, it counts as a completion) since I was little.

Your headphones are hot, Mike. Do you know if they're noise cancelling?
I've been on a quest for epic headphones for years. Well, a quest like in an rpg , i.e. it's supposed to be your main focus, but then you get involved with side quests until you forget about your mission objective.
It's also kind of gone by the wayside since my computer crashed (all my music's on there).

Playheat, a note:
A little weird punctuation is fine, as is some weird spelling (though, if you use that nifty little "spell check" button, it helps loads).
What we're looking for is you trying.
Props for being bilingual, though.
While you do type pretty coherently for a preteen, we've got high standards here.
Just be friendly, behave intelligently, and take criticism in stride. It's how we all got here.
Also, I'm confused. Is Windy or Nova -ALUCARD-?

Can I be a helper-type?
Even if not using me, though, helper-types could be a way to include or cameo some of the Matricians who couldn't be bosses.
Maybe.
At least, it seems to me like it might be a good idea.
All suggestions aside, this is looking bitchin'.

FINE. I can't copypasta here, and the manual URL isn't working, BUT... If you want to see them that badly, go to my photobucket (alexthepenguin), album "cam whore" and go to the 9th page. The two photos are titles "picture20.jpg" and "LouisianaPsychic.jpg". If you want to post them here for easier reference, I don't mind/care. Seriously, those pictures are from back in Ashland.

I think I've shown one photo online where my teeth are exposed.
People pretty unanimously thought it was creepy.
Then again, I'm missing eight of them (they never grew in). It's not as obvious in person, apparently, though, so eh.

The worst we've really got (or at least that I've seen) are people who wear ears (which I don't mind, especially since some of them take lots of time and effort to make it part of their outfit) and shabby, beaten-up, hanging-off-their-beltloops tails.
The tails are ridiculous.
Yeah, we have a sect of diehard Vegetas, but that's behaviour-wise, so eh.
We do get lots of EGL-types, though.
Oh, yeah. The "scene" kids.
...
Most aren't so bad, but some are just stupid, so much so as to make walking around certain places uncomfortable.
They of course thrive here, though. Coffeeshops and a local music scene breed hipsters and scene kids.
We're mostly a college town, though, so we've really got a diverse mix (with that special Bellingham jive). Every kind of person lives here, from frat boys to fishermen, and almost everyone's creative and/or artistic.
The overall theme, though, is of laid back tolerance. It's pretty nice, overall, as long as you stay above street level (culturally, not literally).
The funniest that I've seen are the ones that pretend to be "gangsta." They're really the only ones that look out of place up here.
*shrug*
tl;dr?
Summary: My town has a culture all its own that incorporates so many factions that nothing really sticks out in a bad way, "Gangsta" fashion being the exception.

Tee hee, aminal crossing. Yeah, though, I've got pokemon. Platinum, granted, bt Pokemon nonetheless. I haven't cared to follow all these eagles and #####hawks seagulls to know what's which. Then again, my usual clothing obtaining methods are either thrift, second hand (stores or from friends), or clearance sales. It leaves me with more gaming/music money that way, and I didn't waste an assload of money for something that's "out" in three hours. The most money I've spent (or would have spent if it hadn't been a gift) is just over $100 for two pairs of new shoes (the most expensive menu item at about 40 bucks together), two tops, two camisoles, two skirts, and $15 worth of bamboo socks. My best outfit (nice dress, tights, ribbon, shoes, hat) cost a total of six bucks (the hat and tights were free). I've got a friend who is passionately opposed to knockoffs (even if they look good, function well, and are perfectly good products on their own merits), and "can't understand" why someone would buy them. This same friend is also several thousand dollars in debt, but spends $600+ on anatomically correct dolls that she turns into various characters. I think I hit a tangent, and can't remember where I was going, so in closing: paying for logos is silly. Posted on: 04-05-2009, 20:20:21

Half watching Risky Business.
It's been a good day.
I recently recieved notification that someone stole my card, and they sent me a new one, but I can't activate it, or see if I really owe money or not, as the overdraft statement came before the theft notification.
Whichever way, it's been a good day. Night. Whichever.

I'm rereading Call of Cthulhu, and starting on Dante's Inferno. I eventually intend to read all the divine comedies, but this seems a good start. Posted on: 21-04-2009, 20:17:38
I just read Chuck Palahniuk's story, "Guts." I personally found it hilarious. It's not for the weak-stomached or those with an issue regarding experimental male masturbation. It was fun to read whilst stomping on wet towels, certainly. I haven't read much Palahniuk, but the short stories and excerpts that I read in Northwest Lit. have certainly made me wanting to read more. Pahalniuk and Tom Robbins both.

Speaking of delicious, I'm went to the doctor today. This might not seem delicious, but I'm on a snazzy new diet (as explained by the Mayo Clinic's website) called the Mediterranean diet. It's pretty interesting, being based on traditional foods from countries that border the Mediterranean Sea. Lots of fruit, very little red meat (it's higher than sugars on the pyramid), and moderate consumption of red wine is strongly encouraged (for me, as I don't have liver conditions). The dietician's appointment needs to be made still, but in medical news, my blood sugar is normal, my vitamin D levels are deficient (perfectly normal for up here, and I get my 50,000mg. weekly pills for that tomorrow), and my cholesterol is surprisingly high, hence the dietary stuff. I also need to actually exercise for cardio (as opposed to exercising for transportation reasons), but I've got a plan for that which includes possibly training up to triathlon level and competing. Who knows? I might even do a leg of the Ski-to-Sea race next year.

I think that, in the long run, I would like a drying rack. We've got a well-ventilated main room, and a small rack would even work in the kitchen.
I ended up having to bum quarters from my mom to dry the load this time, but the issue was mostly due to the size of the load, as I couldn't separate the items well enough to wring them out properly.
I enjoy hand-washing, and they seem to get cleaner that way. (It's also better for the earth.) If I could save up enough, I'd also get a functional wringer.
I used to have a large yard with a clothesline that worked just fine (as long as laundry day was sunny), and I honestly miss it.
As it is, though, I just need to remember to do small loads, it seems.
