Damn, I'm old enough to drive, but I'm not old enough to be Fireman.

Rez can do Dr.Wily.

Rez is the only one who could.

I wish I were thinner, good at acting, and had martial arts training.

I like what they say about Dr. Light:

"His appearance can reflect that of Santa Claus (large beard and such). His hair color is grey. Note: The Claus appear is a big plus but NOT necessary."

I like the fact they called him Rock, not that ridiculous Mega crap.

I could definitely pull of IceMan.

A little over 3 months till my 18th birthday though, nor do I have any actual desire to do such a thing.

You look nothing like an Inuit.

Title: Re: Casting call for MegaMan: The Movie

DID IT SAY "INUIT APPEAR IS A BIG PLUS", MY FRIEND?

Title: Re: Casting call for MegaMan: The Movie
Post by: Mikero on 8 January 2008, 02:21:13
They can't.

Just like when they were interviewing for Stuey's babysitter and he was all "Yeah, we couldn't run an add that said no Portuguese but uh.... No Portuguese..."

I would go and Audition, save this is happening on the other side of the country.

Title: Re: Casting call for MegaMan: The Movie
Post by: ASR on 8 January 2008, 02:41:08
The sad thing is, I'm sure any one of us would walk away with the part.

Title: Re: Casting call for MegaMan: The Movie
Post by: Lunchebox on 8 January 2008, 02:43:41
I actually can act pretty well. I think I can do the serious, misguided, justice seeking Fireman. Or a cocky, arrogant,  Elecman.

Title: Re: Casting call for MegaMan: The Movie
Post by: ASR on 8 January 2008, 02:45:23
I could do ElecMan easily.

Title: Re: Casting call for MegaMan: The Movie
Post by: Captain Sanoguchi on 8 January 2008, 02:49:00
Yeeeeah, we all know you'd be great at Elecman.
On an unrelated note, anyone remember how gay Elecman was in a certain Megaman game on the PSP?

Title: Re: Casting call for MegaMan: The Movie
Post by: ASR on 8 January 2008, 02:51:53
He reminded me of a generic anime vampire character, no idea why. I've never even seen an anime with a vampire in it, before.

OH WAIT DOES DEVIMON COUNT

Title: Re: Casting call for MegaMan: The Movie
Post by: Captain Sanoguchi on 8 January 2008, 03:02:09
Devimon was a devil.
I think you mean Myotismon, yeah, he was really gay.

Title: Re: Casting call for MegaMan: The Movie
Post by: Kamon on 8 January 2008, 14:46:44
Probably a fan-made one based on Powered Up. If there was a big budget one being made, it would have been big news.

No one in Hollywood that's any good could really make a good Mega Man movie. Of course this is fan made.

There's an interview with the guy making it on Rpm

It's good to know that he isn't at least gunna have the guy playing Megaman running around in spandex

: Eddie Lebron
I just want the fan community to know I'm doing this for them. I don't want to ruin Megaman, I'm not making this film for the wrong reasons, and my primary goal is to give the Megaman fan community the type of live action Megaman film Hollywood would be, frankly, too misguided to create. I love Megaman and this game deserves a faithful film of quality. In short, I will not let the fans down!

He seems like he knows what he's doing, so I'll hold him to his word.

I'm a bit scared about both the costumes and the 3 CGI Robot Masters.

I'm happy they're going along with the original storyline as well, that Ruby spears crap.. was crap.

I'm very curious as to what Protoman will be like.

Yeah right people! I actually took Drama class 2 years in a row! I'd smoke you all. I could be bomb man no problem, I'm tubby, short, and I like to shout BOMBS!

Please. I took drama for quite a few years too, and I'm pretty good when everyone else is also trying (this is reference to the movie we made last semester when I stopped caring because no one else was committed). But anyway I don't think I'd audition for this even if it was next door. I doesn't sound good.

It only sounds like he knows what he's doing because he SAID he does.

Title: Re: Casting call for MegaMan: The Movie
Post by: ASR on 9 January 2008, 00:27:08
Oh, I watched the director's short film Loveless on his site, and I'm actually impressed. Sure, it's not amazing, but the quality of the film is more than I expected.

I mean, yeah, I'm expecting 100% crap from this MegaMan film, but it might be tolerable 100% crap.

Title: Re: Casting call for MegaMan: The Movie
Post by: NovaMan XP on 9 January 2008, 01:25:46
and I like to shout BOMBS!

And that is why I didn't fight BombMan in MMPU in the airport...

Title: Re: Casting call for MegaMan: The Movie
Post by: orclev on 9 January 2008, 06:52:53
Well...there is only one female role (Roll, lol) listed, and...I don't really seem to qualify for it, as I am neither blond nor Asian.  :/

Not that I would ever really want to audition for a movie anyway.  ^_^

Title: Re: Casting call for MegaMan: The Movie

Hmm.. I'm blond, maybe I should try out for Roll.

Post by: Fatso on 9 January 2008, 17:14:44
From the RPM interview:

Just a quick, fanboy-ish question, but you're not putting ProtoMan in your movie, are you?
Since the get go, he's been in the film since I felt he was that important of a character to have.

In a MM1 movie?? I'm sort of scared at this point, but I'll do my best to enjoy it.

Title: Re: Casting call for MegaMan: The Movie
Post by: Mikero on 9 January 2008, 23:35:16
It's probably going to be like cartoon..

Title: Re: Casting call for MegaMan: The Movie
Post by: NovaMan XP on 10 January 2008, 00:14:18
Unless he's ONLY in the very beginning and never makes an important appearance after that.

I guess they're going to show the Prototype being built, running away, etc.

Title: Re: Casting call for MegaMan: The Movie
Post by: ASR on 10 January 2008, 00:15:43
Even in MMPU, they didn't really retcon him into the story unless you were playing as him. Otherwise, he was never mentioned.

I mean, yeah, I'm expecting 100% crap from this MegaMan film, but it might be tolerable 100% crap.

Tolerable is good enough for me!  Huzaah!

Yeah right people! I actually took Drama class 2 years in a row! I'd smoke you all. I could be bomb man no problem, I'm tubby, short, and I like to shout BOMBS!

It only sounds like he knows what he's doing because he SAID he does.

I just said whatever was in my heart.   Didn't mean to come off wrong in the interview if i did.  It was 3AM in the morning and I was pretty hungry!

As for the cartoon, they totally dropped the ball with many characters, including Protoman.      As a fan, no way in hell would I allow this Eddie Lebron to make Proto like that!  If I every see him, I'll kick his...oh wait.

Wind, I want you to picture, in your mind, some wonderful movies that you absolutely love.
Now picture a scene where tons of people randomly shout "Sizzling circuits!", "Great Gatsby!" and "Gee willickers!" as a secret shoutout to us here at MMM.

Think of how lame that is.

Actually, that's pretty cool. KAY MOOT POST

Seconded.

So far so good, though I still have reservations about what the interview said about Proto Man's inclusion.

Title: Re: Casting call for MegaMan: The Movie
Post by: Daftman on 20 February 2008, 00:43:52
I think the heat I get for having Proto is the film is better than the heat I would have gotten for NOT having him in there.  It's justified as to why he's in the film and what his purpose to the story isso I feel other fans will feel comforting but I'm willing to answer questions regarding it.  Plus, I highly doubt I'm making a sequel so presenting Proto the way he should be is something I needed to do now.  The old MM trailer got him all wrong so I HAD to fix it.

Responses to actual clips from the film have been extremely well received and deemed as faithful as a film adaptation can be as well as the casting so as each day goes on, I feel more and more confident I'm headed in the right direction  :)

If the movie is going to be on the order of "Return of the Ghostbusters" good, then that's great.

Oddly enough, the VFX team on that film (ROTGB) is working on MM.  They were very anxious to work with me after seeing my earlier works so I'm glad about that!  Plus, I know Hank braxtan and even had a cameo in said film.

In the eyes of the viewer, good or bad, I have a feeling everyone will have something to enjoy in the film and if not, at least you didn't pay $9 bucks to see it!

RPM has an Intervew posted with Daft.

It really isn't about who should interview, but the question MMM wants to have asked.

I think it should be one of our Veterans (whoever they are) Or one of the moderators. Seeing as they would be more appropriate for representing the MMM.

Title: Re: Casting call for MegaMan: The Movie

You're mean!~
Besides, I don't want to go back. All they ever do at RPM is talk about Lucky Star and other lame things. Besides, I got banned from RPM awhile back, not even for flamming, it was for posting art they found offensive, and so some new mod with a freakin' recolored Zero sprite for an avatar comes up and takes down my whole art topic. His name was like Zeroette or something, yeah, he sure was manly. Yeah, I have to say, the moderation staff at RPM is... let's just say you get moderator privileges just for signing up pretty much. Besides, I'm content here and I'm trying to be nicer.
Finally, dude, I was kidding, it is enough that Daftman joined MBoard, jeeze.
There is no time, Daftman is enough.

On the website (http://www.megamanfilm.com) there is now a nice mock-up of the in-game wanted poster for Dr. Wily. Looks very cool.

The eyebrows ARE very important. With videogame characters created in the late 80's, you only get a small handful of defining characteristics. Use them all.

Talking about it on IRC, there's a lot of "why didn't they do the Wily hair D:" but I really like the actor they got for him.

They really should have gotten a Caucasian chick for Roll, or at least left her with black hair. :/

Title: Re: Casting call for MegaMan: The Movie
Post by: Voulnet on 27 February 2008, 19:07:41

Title: Re: Casting call for MegaMan: The Movie
Post by: ChaosVortex on 27 February 2008, 19:45:45
Yeah, whoever is Roll really stinks. Dr. Wily looks good, but he needs to be bald in the middle and have hair on the side.

I mean, add some grey, some more hair and Dr. Phil has got it down.

Title: Re: Casting call for MegaMan: The Movie

So far I only really have doubts about the acting and plot, though Wily does look good in those shots. As for Roll, she's a robot. Here's an idea, maybe the wig looks artificial because her hair is artificial.

The acting will be very surprising, I can assure you!  The plot is pretty much ripped from the first game but many differences are due to me developing the characters properly.

As for the hair, that artificial nod was actually added to the script already so no worries.

Regardless of criticism, I must say you do have my interest so far.

I'm glad!

I knew criticism would be part of the territory when I decided to do this film so I don't mind it.  All I can do is try to minimize certain concerns fans would have.

Example:  I MUCH rather have fans criticizing the look of the blonde hair than deal with the hatred I would have gathered for her NOT having blonde hair.  I only went through this since everyone attached to the project believed Jeanie Tse (actress playing Roll) was worth it and she has definitely proved she was best suited for Roll!

That's cool. I just can't even begin to think of how I'd script some things to sync as perfectly as possible with the game itself as well as the world as we see it. I don't expect you to explain it all to me, but I imagine it'd be a pretty difficult task and that's what gives me doubt, not your skill in particular, if that makes sense. Regardless, I will watch this movie. I will watch it with vigor.

LATE EDIT: About the hair, I wasn't suggesting you hadn't done that on purpose, I was just making a point to the hair haters.

I'm sure everyone has doubts on the acting and plot.

Well, I'm sure most people have doubts on everything and everything. I wasn't trying to bring up anything new or unspoken of when I said that.

And no matter how you look at it, #####ty hair is still #####ty hair.

Yeah, well, I got over a long time ago the fact that there will always be people who don't... well, have the looks. At least Roll has an excuse. It's ONE thing in the movie that looks blatantly fake, and it happens to be the hair of a robot. I think it's kind of silly that you'd not be able to deal with that, not even if you bothered to think for a bit and realize it could've been on purpose. (Of course, we know now that it was, but this applies to before it was confirmed.)

Title: Re: Casting call for MegaMan: The Movie
Post by: ChaosVortex on 27 February 2008, 23:18:37
Well yeah, intentional or not, I don't like it. But I am judging this on screenshots which really just tell me of one shot, not how it would really look in the film.

Like, for example, I can't hear their voices. I can't really judge anything except for how it looks.

The hair looks crappy. Those are my thoughts about it.

Reminds me:
When I was very young, I went on the King Kong ride at Universal Studios, where he lifts the red subway train high into the air. The ride broke while the train was in the air. I flipped out and we were stuck in the air for about 2 hours.
Lame.

Also, I once watched a softcore porn named Kinky Kong. I thought it was clever.

Ill talk to my CG team and see if they are ready to show Cutman to the public.

As for this said "raptor", a test shot was done in which a render of Cutman was placed against a background.  The background being from a film in which a CG raptor was in it.  Sorry but no raptors will be seen in Megaman :(

Edit: I actually found it, theres about 4 and they're all under the same username. This one I actually like because you can see the actual helmet of Fireman, I can see theres going to be flames at the top of his head. I'm not a fan of the suits but the actors and stunts seem very professional.

It was just the actor playing the role of Fireman blowing some smoke out of his mask.
It's cool, but not cool enough to matter, just look at Wind's avatar, that's pretty much the whole thing.

The costumes are totally bitchin'. I mean, they're going to look #####in' badass in the movie!

I'm both massively impressed and massively disappointed.

Wily and Light were both great, great, great.

Reporter and Roll were both ew, ew, ew, and since Roll is a major character, I'm a bit wary.

Title: Re: Casting call for MegaMan: The Movie
Post by: Abominator on 19 May 2008, 22:36:37
No...

Light seems to be up his own ass (which is completely out of character), Wily is like a generic Saturday morning cartoon baddie, Roll looks like she's either had too much or too little of her medication.

They all look like they could use a good night's sleep, too.

I'd like to be more enthusiastic, but I just don't know why so much effort is going into something with apparently no quality control.

It seems to me that something which could have been amusing in an eyebrow raising, sigh-inducing way (whether deliberately or otherwise) just seems like it'll turn out to have been an enormous waste of time.

However, I'm sure that in this age where any video placed online is instantly declared the greatest, most hilarious thing ever, that this will be equally well received.

To be honest, I think this is a fabulous job for a non-profit, low-budget film.

Whether or not it's a waste of time, Eddie seems to be into this deeply and I'll give him that respect. I know I'd love to make a movie about any particular passion of mine, or something like that.

I've come to accept it as something that's going to fail so hard that since I'm now over that, I'll be able to enjoy the movie when it comes out.

Watching the film as a whole, Dr. Light is an extremely kind hearted, selfless person, the way he was meant to be depicted.  In that particular scene, he's oozing with pride for his work so out of context, the scene may have a different meaning depending on the viewer.  I tried to have each character depicted the way the average Megaman fans would want them to.  Being a fan myself, I wouldn't have it any other way!

The fact of the matter is this.  Everyone involved in this film and myself are putting in the effort, time, and money.   We are doing this because of our love of film making, acting, effects, and especially Megaman.  We want to make the best film we humanly can.  No need to worry about if this is a wasted effort since one way or another,  I will have the personal satisfaction of completing such a project and if even only ONE Megaman fan liked the film, my effort didn't go wasted.  Effort is never wasted when is for a passion.  Plus, you don't have to pay to get this made or to see this!  Hell, it's a given that some people won't support or watch the film one way or another.  In all honesty, I appreciate when people give me a reason WHY they don't like or support this film rather then just proclaiming they hate it or why they wish I was dead :P.  Anyone with a hint of an intelligence will actually have a reason to hate this film.  Abominator, I thank you for actually stating an opinion on why you aren't looking forward to this film.  That's character.

Also, You honestly think Hollywood would do ANY better making a MM film :'(?  At least for this film, you save your ticket money to go see Iron Man 2!

All over NYC and upstate New York mostly.  I did everything in my power to give the film a visually grand scale and NYC is just an AMAZING location in itself.  Helicopter shooting in three weeks of NYC ;D.

Actually, y'know what, screw that. It's time for... ASR'S INTERVIEW-O-RAMA!!!

1) How many times a day did you swear on set, average?

2) Did you ever hook up with Dr. Wily off-set?

3) What is your stance on the spelling/formatting of MegaMan/Mega Man/Megaman?

4) Is Dr. Wily single?

5) What sort of factors went into deciding which Robot Masters would be presented in CGI rather than by actors?

6) What's your favorite flavor of ice cream?

7) What's your favorite MegaMan game?

8) What's your favorite movie?

9) How can you tell if a Smurf is choking?

10) Which MegaMan spin-off series (any after Classic) has been the most disappointing to you?

11) Would you ever consider giving me Dr. Wily's number?

12) Do you have any finished samples of the film's musical score for us to hear?

13) How faithful is the musical score to the game's actual soundtrack, and if it is very faithful, are you limiting yourself to only the first game, or are you using music from later ones, like the MM2 Title Screen or MM2 Dr. Wily Stage 1?

14) Sex now?

15) Isn't it funny how question 8 is ProtoMan?

Please respond. Very urgent. Answer all seriously.

I talk to eddie on and off about the movie myself, and I am excited to see what he has done.

Things seem a tad off, but then again, I was playing the game back in 1994.

Lets look how our childhood memoires turned into movies...

The cat and the hat.
Alvin and the chipmunks.
Speed racer.
Teenage mutant ninja turtles.
transformers.

Even OFF the internet, those movies were widly accepted as good movies, and they did the franchise justice.

To me, the MM movie looks a little like what you would see watching old power rangers. I seriously doubt any of you will ever be happy with the megabuster, be it realistic, or large yellow nerf balls.

From what Ive seen of it, It's better than Megaman NT warrior.

Please respond. Very urgent. Answer all seriously.

1.)  20....or more.

2.)  Dr. Wily is out of my league.

3.)  Megaman....It just seems...RIGHT.

4.)  Can't say.  Wily is a damn playa.

5.)  The decision was based on physical capablities and there original designs.  Cutman, Gutsman, and Bombman were the most abstract and were physical impossible to be potrayed by actors and if they were, they would look RIDICULOUS.   Elecman, Iceman, and Fireman have a more humanoid appearance so they would be able to hold up as live action actors and still look appearance.

6.)  Strawberry....yessssssss.

7.)  I use to not have a favorite but over time, Megaman 2's greatness grew on me.

8.)  Blade Runner, baby!

9.)  ....that's deep!

10.)  .exe /NT Warriors.  It's just too....different from the times of the original heroic Megaman or the bad ass Megaman X.

11.)  Well....how much you willing to pay?

12.)  Scoring won't begin until July so you'll have to wait!

13.)  Very faithful.  I'm combining music from primarly Megaman 2 with some themes from Megaman 1.   Megaman 2 is the definitive Megaman score to me.  The Megaman 2 title theme, Wily's Stage 1 theme, and the end credits theme will especially be adapted for the film

14.)  Call me next week, I'm sexed out at the moment.

15.)   8)

Serious clash of acting styles there.

Reporter needs a round of buckshot in the face.

If that's really CutMan I don't get why all the "robots" don't look like that.

I agree 100%.

If it's better than Jurassic Park 3 I'll give you credit.

I hear of a rumor... and you can choose to look to see if it's been proven wrong... of a JP4.

The supposed plot... The US goes BACK to JP AGAIN. Captures a raptor or two, Then genetically enhances them with guns/missle launchers for arms as 'the ultimate weapon'

The raptors get loose, Oh no scary.

Apparently lucas is so tired of how bad JP has become that he'll direct it if someone else foots the bill...

We talked about that here forever ago, and believe me, I took note, but I've heard nothing since. It sounded stupid enough, I'm sure it's just a rumor.

The first and second Jurassic Park are among my no-doubt favorite movies of all time, so the third is more a disappointment to me than a bad movie.

Title: Re: Casting call for MegaMan: The Movie
Post by: preventerWIND on 21 May 2008, 20:28:45
Personally I think everyone who thinks this is turning out to be bad is wrong, I mean, this is nowhere close to the raping that Capcom/Inticreates is doing now. In fact I think this is pretty quality stuff, after all, it IS a live action concept of MM1.. There's going to be some TF like stuff goin' down.

My only complain is some of the acting and Cutman; while very cool looking, seems too violent for the original Cutman.

That reporter actor should be fired. On the spot.

Title: Re: Casting call for MegaMan: The Movie
Post by: TheRedPriest on 21 May 2008, 21:43:44
I don't see why all the robot masters couldn't be played by actors.  Much like Light's body type and santa beard was modified for the actor, body type isn't that different.  Cut Man is just like Ice Man, Fire Man and Elec Man aside from having scissors on his head.  Bomb Man is just rounder, cast someone a little... chubby!  Guts Man could be played by a larger bulky guy.  My point is I don't think it would look any sillier than anything else thus far.

The thing that bothers me most about the CG Cutman is that he looks SUBSTANCIALLY different from what I presume the human Robot Master actors will look like, and there shouldn't be THAT level of difference.

There's little to no orange there, MAYBE it's tangerine yellow (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Shades_of_yellow) but even then...

Title: Re: Casting call for MegaMan: The Movie
Post by: ASR on 22 May 2008, 03:38:09

Title: Re: Casting call for MegaMan: The Movie

The closest orange to that is amber (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Shades_of_orange) but even that's darker.

Post by: ASR on 22 May 2008, 03:54:32
I agree with you, Mike, and I can't argue with the technicalities and proof and everything, but I don't know one person that would look at that and call it yellow rather than orange.

My monitor is fine you know I just realized that Firefox always shows images lighter online than they actually are (I first noticed when I put new art I'd coloured online), so let's see.

Hm. Nah. I saved it and it looks the same to me. I know my monitor is right because I expressly need it to be when I colour. But maybe it changed hues or something when I saved it but I don't really think so. Only the darker portions look maybe a bit kinda sort of orange.

Fighting wasn't his job until the time came for the upgrade.  Of course she cleans and makes delicious treats for Light and Rock but when that ##### hits the fan, her main focus when Megaman is fighting his battles is gathering those damn energy canteens for when he teleports back and giving him a well deserved pat on the back!

Until that 1-up Met came along and sacked us hard..

I can see it working if like, maybe there was a big shot of all these enemies Wily unleashed or something, but do you expect this to be a movie of MM running through each level killing all these enemies, then fighting sub-bosses and then the RM over and over? And fighting the RMs AGAIN?

I can't really see a way that could translate at all. It's a movie so it's about a story, not gameplay, and while Yellow Devil is cool he contributes nothing to the story. A minor danger at best.

Imagine if in the Donkey Kong show they just jumped on crocs and collected bananas over and over for 50 episodes until they finally got to King K. Rool and THEN had a conversation!

We're not saying we want every detail to be crammed into the movie Mike. When Mega Man finishes beating the 8 RM's, he goes to fight Wily, Wily sends the Yellow Devil after Mega Man, and afterwards fights him himself.

Everything translates well when its a video game movie! I know for a fact Met's are going to be in the movie. And probably some other enemies will make brief appearances.

yep it should be a good movie. After all the special effects team did good in the ghost buster fan movies. Also i hope megaman changes armor color when he uses a robot masters weapon. On a side note nice pic wind

You just want to see him pink or something.

With the color change, it depends.

It had better be a decent effect and actually look like he's the same Mega Man, just pink or green or whatever. If it's poorly applied, then ew.

Title: Re: Casting call for MegaMan: The Movie
Post by: preventerWIND on 8 October 2008, 03:12:22
The colors for MM1 were decent, besides, with the design of the costume I doubt much will change.

You just want to see him pink or something.

Its one of the big themes of the game. Get a weapon change a color, get a weapon change a color! Seriously, whats the point of making this movie if they're not going to add this ##### in? Would you rather they hand a blue robot a gun and tell him to blow ##### up?

Title: Re: Casting call for MegaMan: The Movie

In fact, that'd be really awesome.

It would be great as some parody movie, definitely. I'd watch it, just to see Crash Man's live action MM2 boxart face is excuse enough for me.

Title: Re: Casting call for MegaMan: The Movie
Post by: Mikero on 8 October 2008, 05:04:25
I always figured the only reason they ever had him change colours in the FIRST place was just so YOU knew what power you're using, and then they went with it. It doesn't make sense in the real world that his whole body would just somehow change colour and I can't see any way that that could be done with a "decent effect".

If it's over the top and it's like BLAM colour explodes on to him it will be lame, and if he just quietly fades to another colour it will be lame, without much in-between.

I'd rather the movie be good than full of cheesy camp. It's not a Joss Whedon show whether you like it or not. And while it's a staple of the series that you get the RM's powers and that needs to be shown, I don't think the colour changing is a big enough deal that it "has to be" in there. I'm all for having him gain the weapons but I can't forsee any way the colours thing will look at all good.

Most of all even if he does not change color what about weapon energy and his energy how are they going to display that. What i want to see is a live action metal man he is my favorite rm.

In many interviews, I've stated every major boss will be in the film and it will be logically incorporated into the plot.  When I say every major boss from Megaman 1, I mean it.... :)

For those that want to read more about the in-depth process of the making of this film, the official blog is located over here:

http://megaman.ningin.com/ (http://megaman.ningin.com/)

An informative read for anyone who gives a damn about this wacky film :P

I also recommend throwing questions my way.  I will answer pretty much anything.  The only spoilers I won't reveal are those that pertain to very specific plot details that I think are worth hiding.  Anything that was already in the first game's plot is already common knowledge!

Title: Re: Casting call for MegaMan: The Movie
Post by: Skull Man on 8 October 2008, 14:51:10
I think the colour change effect would be necessary, it is afterall a very distinct trait of the MM series.

I think one way to incorporate it would be to have some sort of strip running around and through MM's armour and cannon that surges with the energy of the weapon being used.

Thus explaining the change.

I would love to Metal Man on the screen he is the best looking boss of the 2nd game.

More importantly, I would LOVE to see SKULL MAN, full Rock On gear, skulls and spiked bracelets !!!!

YEAH !!!!

P.S. Hey Eddie, you planning on releasing some shots of the RM's anytime soon ???  ??? Capcom always gives the fans a look at the RM's before the games are released I think if you are going to use their character you should follow suit !!! ;)

 ;D

What i want is for  them to make movies out of the whole mm series that's what many of us have been waiting for.

Title: Re: Casting call for MegaMan: The Movie
Post by: Mikero on 9 October 2008, 02:19:05
I definitely have not been waiting for that. And making that many MM movies... Unless it's a phenom like Bond there's no way that many movies could stay decent that long.

I really don't think the changing of MM's colouring is that distinctive a trait of the series. Just the fact that you can use the RMs weapons. But not the colour thing, that's just extra to the RM weapon.

Really and truthfully, I could care less if MM changes colour or if half of the robots are human in this movie. I'm looking forward to the story being translated to the big screen and because it is a fan film I will excuse the many changes that will have to be made.

I cannot excuse these hollywood films that have the budget to shoot a great piece and end up changing the look, names and feel of the basic story to fill seats (may seem like this is directed to Mr. Bay, but...... okay it is !!!! ;)).

Capcom missed the opportunity to make a few movies out of this franchise and instead allowed for Street Fighter to happen (Guile = Jean Claude Van Damme  >:(). Let's face it, MM is probably just as popular, if not more, than Mario (and MM1 wasn't even included with every NES sold in North America) but he's been slept on huge !!!!!

Way to go Eddie, hopefully what you're doing will light a fire under Capcom's ass and get them to give us more titles and a decent movie/tv show for once.

Title: Re: Casting call for MegaMan: The Movie
Post by: Doomslayer on 9 October 2008, 20:51:55
True the street fighter movie sucked maybe the soon to be released new street fighter movie will do the game justice. But then again it is a sad world for Hollywood when fan movies are kicking actual movies rear ends.

Title: Re: Casting call for MegaMan: The Movie
Post by: Mikero on 9 October 2008, 22:45:58
I honestly have never seen a fan movie that kicked the ass of any professional movie, no matter how bad Street Fighter was. I'm still not decided on the new Street Fighter movie either. Sometimes doing everything exactly like the source material doesn't translate right and looks stupid.

It's like the live action Dragon Ball movie. Everyone's pissing and moaning because it's not like the actual stuff at all, but even if it was down pound for pound killer clown clowned carbon copied right off the actual stuff it would be awful.

Really and truthfully, I could care less if MM changes colour or if half of the robots are human in this movie. I'm looking forward to the story being translated to the big screen and because it is a fan film I will excuse the many changes that will have to be made.

You said "fan film" and "big screen" in the same sentence...

Anyway MM has never been close to as popular as Mario, and I don't want him to be.

My new friends here at college know who he is.

One of them even made the charge up noise and "fired" a charged shot at me. XD

My friends all knew, but then knew more because of me. Still, he's not an icon like Mario. Not even close. Ahead of him is Crash Bandicoot in closeness even. And Spiro. And they suck! Crash's best game was CTR, which was just another Mario Kart ripoff!

Yeah, I forgot to mention, at best one of my friends knew OF him but really not much more than that.

But yeah, when I wear my MegaMan shirts, I meet a lot more people who know who he is because they'll compliment the shirt or something. And that's given me more faith in the amount of MegaMan fans, because I usually get at least two people saying "Oh, sweet MegaMan shirt!" every time I wear one.

I'm disappointed in the robot masters, they could've looked a lot better, especially Elec and Ice Man. Fire Man looks good, and I think they all should have had crazy mask's.

The actor's are seriously lacking for this movie, Rock and Roll look trashy, blond hair on an Asian woman looks weird. And Rock should have had like, crazy hair, not like, NO hair.

Proto Man look's gross.

Title: Re: Casting call for MegaMan: The Movie
Post by: ASR on 28 November 2008, 07:38:18
To be honest, man, I really appreciate the time and effort you're putting into this, but I think this was just too ambitious of a project. For anyone, really.
It's nearly impossible to please MegaMan fans.
Of course, I still haven't seen the film so I can't truly criticize it yet, and I'll definitely still watch it.

Just be happy that some fans are at least supportive of the movie. MMM is a pretty critical group, and it's very rare that the more critical of us find something we actually like, and it's even rare that we all agree on it.

The trailer was just a big disappointment for me. I'm still excited to see the finished project, and I'm sure everyone else here is, too, save for the more cynical.

Just... that actress. Ugh.

I knew getting into this that there would be both support and disappointment one way or another so I ain't bothered.   You have to take criticism like a man so it's not that the comments bother me, it's that I find it interesting the dynamic of some forums.  You get a better understanding of the fan base both good and bad and what works for some and what doesn't work for others.   Watch what I've released, judge for yourself, and be honest.

Title: Re: Casting call for MegaMan: The Movie
Post by: ChaosVortex on 28 November 2008, 14:54:38
I agree that some of this looks pretty junky, and that Roll is... pretty bad, but seeing as this has a limited budget, I will defend this movie if anyone overly bashes it.

I get the feeling I will enjoy this movie. Perhaps it can bring inspiration for a real Hollywood Mega Man movie years from now. Who knows?

But in all honesty, yes, that trailer seemed pretty "bleh" here and there. It took me a little while to actually tell who Elec Man and Ice Man were, and although Mega/Rock and Roll aren't up to perfection, you have done a fine job with this movie from what I've seen so far.

Title: Re: Casting call for MegaMan: The Movie
Post by: Mikero on 29 November 2008, 01:38:13
Right.

The whole site is NOT against this movie. You had a pretty strong percentage of this site convinced that this would be awesome up until the trailer came out. I can't say why people's opinions are changing specifically because mine was always the same. Not based on your efforts, but on the fact that these types of ventures almost always don't work out or aren't up to my own standards.

I can appreciate the work, dedication, and passion but I still don't think it'll be that great. That said, I'm completely certain it will be entertaining and I will probably watch it if I can.

It's really not anyone or thing's fault in particular and I'm surprised that everyone seems to be blaming it all on the Roll actress when if they'd been paying attention this whole time they'd not be surprised right now. We saw stuff of her earlier, and it was the same. Hell, I could tell she was like that from her picture, and really I don't know what anyone thinks the Roll character SHOULD be like. I mean, she was always somewhat airheadly, and it's been known for a LONG damn time she was being played by an asian woman so I've no idea why that's suddenly an issue now.

Nothing in that trailer was surprising or different from what we've seen before, it's so odd that now people on this board have a problem. I feel like--in the MM community as a whole but also prevalent on this site--if a certain amount of people squirt over something then a lot of people follow suit, hyping up the next person that much more and so on. And if a certain amount of people bash something then the people follow suit that way, with similar exponential movement. It's actually something I find very hard to stand.

I try not to, and hold on to my opinion for the most part. I actually will enjoy this movie.

It's weird. It's like, I think this movie won't be real good... yet... it's gonna be good.

Yeah, everyone who's seen the trailer (that I know personally) thinks it's rubbish. There have been a few positive comments, the 3d animation looks fantastic, and the costumes (sans Roll's hair) are great. The main problems are the dialogue, the stiff acting, and... everything about Roll.

I've been fine with the Roll actor ever since I saw the teaser way back then.

I also think she's quite cute. But that's just me.

Ha, I was unaware I let anything slip by! :P

I don't see anything wrong and if there was anything iffy, it would have to do with the timing of the shot selection more than anything else.  You can take the most beautiful actress in the world, take a shot  of them from a specific film scene they are doing and at least once, there face will look iffy in delivery of dialogue (although I don't see it here).

Honestly, I believe within the context of the film, more people will be very accepting of Roll.  I'm surprised that people are examining shots with this much precision....

Roll is very bubbly, cheerful, and expressive.  This in live action was already difficult to pull off but I'm happy with the results of the actress.  Here's hoping others are as well!

Man, video game fan films are tough business I must say!

If they did they were clearly idiots because we've been seeing Roll for a long damn time, so it doesn't make sense this is a problem all of a sudden.

I'm pretty sure the Roll thing was a problem before. They just hadn't seen her act yet.

I still don't see her as a problem. Snooping got me her audition video, and I hated the first part of her audition, but they had her tone it down a bit and it felt acceptable to me. I mean, I hate the character, but it's Roll enough to me.

Yes, but they were eventually released here though, I know there were GBA ports of FF1-6.

The MegaMan games in the classic series used to use Roman numerals for the sequels with 8 and 9 as the exception... so some people (retards) thought when MegaMan X was released it was MegaMan 10.

For some reason, people love to take the US releases  of games seriously.
And I'm not sure if the second part of my post is pointless or not.

I WAS THINKING INCORRECTLY.

This is the first post that Eddie made in this topic.

-Eddie Lebron

It was a ways in, so I apologize. I could have sworn he had started it.
Sorry for the confusion and I'm gonna go rot in a closet, okay?

So yeah, I was at MAGFest for the last four days. During this time, they held a panel for this movie (I didn't get to attend, but the scheduling was stupid anyway - why hold a Q&A panel days before you show the movie), and they also showed a super rough cut of the film (which I did attend).

Okay...it's about as good as you'd think it would be.

Quick rundown:

The Good:
-Wily's castle looks awesome, as do quite a few of the other special effects
-Does well with it's budget (which is apparently 3 times what it should have been at this point)
-Some nice video game references thrown in for those paying attention.
-The guy who plays Dr. Wily really hams it up.
-Proto Man is the coolest character in the movie
-The overall look of the Robot Masters, as well as Mega Man, is nice.
-Yellow Devil was badass.

The Bad:
-The girl who plays roll is annoying as #####, and the guy who plays Dr. Light isn't too great either.
-Dialogue sucks, and some of the actors can't save it.
-Most of the fight scenes aren't that good.

Now of course, with a super rough cut, you have to realize that not everything that should be there will be there. Music and special effects weren't there for some of the scenes, leaving for some unintentionally hilarious moments, and there were some spots where it felt like scenes weren't completely shot yet. While we (a 3/4s-filled room) did laugh our asses off throughout the film, we all stood up and clapped at the end. I'm hoping that they'll show a more completed form at the next MAGFest.

The movie has a lot of heart. It does. But in the end, I get the same vibe that I got from the unreleased 1994 Fantastic Four movie: Lots of heart, but it would've been better (or at least tolerable) as a syndicated Saturday afternoon show. As a fan-made film, it's not bad. As a regular film...it's really not that good.

Then you should have finished by now!

One of the people there at the showing had also attended the Q&A panel. Apparently the film was supposed to have been done quite a bit ago, but it's taken them hell of a lot longer than it should have, and the budget blew up like no other (although the person couldn't remember how much they had said they spent on the movie).

So, yeah, the movie, it's out... (http://screwattack.com/videos/Mega-Man)

Oh, god...
Roll's voice...

Neat. Let's see what Eddy did.

10 minutes in, and I'm liking it so far. Roll is stupid but I like her more since obviously, she's not taken seriously, and Wily does a pretty good job.

Also, Metal Gear Awesome easter egg (although blatantly placed).

I laughed too.

But I love the introduction to the Stage Select.

I'm sensing... Mega Man Powered Up...

Ice Man is nice... and then all of a sudden... STICK TO THE PLAN SOLDIER.

Anyone know of a direct-download/torrent, or am I going to have to resort to one of those shady conversion sites to obtain an offline version?

I liked the movie well enough.
It wasn't incredible by no means, but it was entertaining.

And Fatso, I, unfortunately, don't know of any download links for it.
Sorry.

I loved it! I wasn't expecting any high art, just a fun fan-made tribute! And honestly, it was very competently done. Special effects aside (and they did a great job with the low budget), it was well-directed.

The acting wasn't that bad, either - the particular standouts were Dr. Light and Dr. Wily, and I hate to admit it, but the girl playing Roll was pretty good at playing a naive character like that. Roll came off a lot better with the context of the actual movie surrounding her. I also really liked the guy playing ElecMan.

Definitely worth the watch!

You DO know they went WAY over their budget right?

Yeah, the budget busted. Still, it's very well done.

Not really.

Then again, maybe something's wrong with both of us.

Ended up just streaming it anyway. There was a lot of cringe fuel but not as much as I was expecting, and in general it was very well done. Still trying to wrestle the temporary file onto my computer to get a more permanent version (can't copy/rename it while the browser is open, but it deletes itself when I close the tab)

EDIT: I thought vimeo would have moved to a newer container than AVI by now. Oh well, the file is safe and sound now.

Which is still a VERY low budget.

I enjoyed it.

I'm am now downloading and securing this 472MB movie on my 768kb/s internet connection.

I'll be done downloading in an hour and a half.
I hate my home internet.

768kb/s isn't bad at all.

Kilo bits.

That's roughly 93KiloBytes per second.

It's good enough for surfing the internet, but it takes a huge toll when 2 people are trying to use computers on that connection.

Ah.

For some reason my computer is the only computer in the house with a good wireless connection. My computer is also the farthest away from the wireless router.

Well, I saw it this weekend, and I have to say, for what it was, it was pretty good.  The end kind of came up a bit fast and the last sequence kind of made me wtf as far as the back and foreth between Copy Robot and Mega Man, but other than that, I was pleased.

Of course you can sit down and nit pick the thing to death (I won't), but I will say I thought Wily made the movie.  I just wish his hair and 'stach would have been all white (there I go nit picking).

It does have it's fair share of cringe moments (which aren't all bad really) but it's a college film.  And I will say that this thing is INFINITELY better done on all levels than 90% of all the other game to movie franchises out there (Resident Evil, Mario, Double Dragon, Street Fighter, Doom, et al).

A good effort!
