The only thing I've heard from McCain supporters up here is that people will be "sorry" they voted for Obama, and that there might be riots.
Here.
In Hamsterville.
Between Seattle and Vancouver.
Where the atmosphere is so calm that the pot wafting through only makes you sleepy or gives you a headache.
Also because, y'know, there totally wasn't a party in the streets downtown here when the local university kids found out. Nope.
Nor a #####ing impromptu parade. With drums and flags and campus security.
Ahh.

Is Death Cab really considered Indie anymore?
I hate the idea that not being on a major label or whatever gets you classified in a whole other genre, as if that makes any sense. And it makes the scope of what can be considered "Indie" too big to make any claim on whether you like it or not. Even if you're talking about something more specific like "Indie rock" or "Indie pop".
I don't know if Death Cab is technically independent, but I classify "indie" based on sound type and origins, rather than record labels. Much of the indie pop and indie rock scenes, at least the ones that I've heard that actually classified themselves as "Indie," do tend to share a sound in common, even with each other. "Hipster" might be a better terminology for the specifics of what I've been listening to, I guess. Kind of. Hm. Coffeehouse music?

Lewis Black and George Carlin.
I actually saw Lewis Black live a few years back. I have both of his books, Me of Little Faith, and Nothing's Sacred. (I got them for my birthday). He's great to listen to, especially during trips.
Carlin... Need I say more? He's George #####in' Carlin. We have one CD of his, and it's awesome.

I voted for zombies. I really love zombie things, and it's something I'm used to. Everyone here (Bellingham) has a zombie survival plan. We talk about it at work, with friends, and even to complete strangers sometimes. (Okay, it's not as frequent an occurrence as that might lead you to believe, but it does happen often.)
Barring that, I'd definitely go for a water world, especially if mutations and/or interspecies-type combining (via surgery, because I'm not #####ing a giant squid no matter what the circumstance) is available or developed.

A catchy song, but I don't really wanna sing along in text form. Also... HOW DOES IT FEEL TO BE OLD?
I've got my magic card that now says I can legally buy alcohol should I feel like it. It's pretty surreal, actually.

The shop itself was not what it advertised itself as.
Death by Chocolate implies gads of the stuff, on display, for purchase, from truffles to cakes, and everything else.
Not a coffee bar with sandwiches and some little chocolate things. No. Bad marketing. Bad.
Also, their chocolate cookies taste heavily of molasses.

Aww, thanks, guys!
I had a great day. My mom took the family up to Vancouver (BC, Canada).
We spent four and a half hours or so at the aquarium. I saw every exhibit, and even caught the octopus before it decided that everyone should go away and went into its hole. The garden eels were awesome. We caught some fighting with each other, then made faces in the glass until they stopped. They're like less-exciting, long meerkats that never (or rarely) leave their holes.
Then, we went to Death by Chocolate. It was very underwhelming, as they had more sandwiches than they did chocolate. I got Nanaimo bars, though, and that's what mattered (though, for the store name, the chocolate on top was very, very thin. D: ).
I got a big box of stuff from my mom and Richard (which included both books by Lewis Black), $71 and a book from my grandmother, and a $25 gift certificate from my aunt for the local art supply store.
I also bought my first sixpack (Apricot Ale). I only drank one, though.
The ale was cheaper than a bottle of wine. Why is that?
All in all, it was bitchin'. My stomach even behaved all day (as it hasn't been lately). :3

I've noticed that the Canadian versions of both Idol and So You Think You Can Dance have more appeal to them than the US versions. I think I appreciate the surplus of actual musicians on Idol, and the energy is just better on Dance.

I'm starting a maybe story. I can't think how to tie in this stream that looks like the ground is melting, though.
Otherwise, I'm trying to decide whether I'm investing in Halloween to the point of being a zombie or to the point of being a green giant squid.
Suggestions, please.

I want to get a good pair of DJ-quality headphones, but have no way of saving up for them right now.
I really want ones that have the look, and the additional sound quality would be nice, too.

The first leaves of autumn crash against the windowpanes One or two survivors push through the small opening, blowing past my face The storm brews, the wind bending the waves and trees alike The still-clinging leaves whisper, rustle, their reality shaken, death eminent
The hail comes first, the driving force that clears the path for raindrops Drumming the earth and rooftops in its fury, setting the rhythm Rumbling, clattering, sizzling as the rain joins in the dance A frying pan full of water and oil, spitting and spraying and stinging
It stops for a moment, still as the glass in a hand-mirror Then comes the new rain; soft, gentle, comforting, motherly Caressing the fallen leaves and twigs, washing them down the street The sidewalk clean, the gutters full of the once-glorious life of a leaf
Greens, golds, yellows, reds, floating in an arc on the tides Moving swiftly toward the stream, catching on small plants yet living Protection for stability, shield for lodging, warmth of fireside chats Brethren circle down to join kin, some caught on the last snippets of winds
The storm clouds break apart, the rays of sunset bathe the scene Surreal, glistening, reds and golds in spite of all else Dark clouds purple, shadows pacing the earth o'er all upon it Rising, stretching, blending into the final curtain of night

Getting drunk is not my idea of fun. A glass or two (or the relative measurement for whatever you're drinking) can be fun, but within defined limits. Ritalin and frequent exposure to second-hand marijuana smoke have completely turned me off of non-alcohol drugs, as well as not liking to not be myself without control. (I love acting, but that is not the same kind of not being yourself.) I'll drink wine and ales for the most part. I can't drink rum, and I like vodka, but not straight. "I wonder what this tastes like" counts as special.
Concurred!
