My mom never let my room get bad enough for me to feel the urge to clean.
Once it got past a certain point, she went in herself. She would also offer to help me or ask me to let her do it when I did clean. ("It'll be faster if I do it," "Let me show you how to clean your room better/faster[harder/stronger], "I do/did this for a living. It'll be faster this way," et cetera.)
I often came home to find my room spotless, along with small items (but with personal value) missing or broken.
I also never actually developed cleaning skills because of this process. Also, I never knew where anything was.
She also did this whilst I was in the hospital (to our apartment), though that was appreciated, as it was in terrible condition, and my constitution wasn't the best.
It didn't stay that way, though. I love clutter. I'm a chaotic person, and completely uncluttered environments feel unnatural to me. I also have a hard time not adapting to the state of chaos that comes of a messy house, and I think that part of it is enjoying the freedom (stupid, I know) of not having my mother come in and clean, though, I also get immense satisfaction out of cleaning when I'm properly motivated. Maybe it has to do with some self-detrimental thing from when I was younger, I don't know.
Yeah. Similar but not. It's more about privacy than anything, for me. ----
In other news, I have a tub full of laundry I washed last night, and nowhere to hang it.
I know I'm probably grasping at straws here, but does anyone know a way to efficiently air-dry clothes without a clothesline or the ability to spread them out on the lawn? I would string up a line outside, but in a town where unattended roadside items translates to "free #####," I'd rather not lose what clothing I have.

The best Canadian shows are finishing up now.
The only shows I really got into were Corner Gas (what horrible timing for me) and Fringe. On the subject of nudity, I essentially grew up just on the modest side of the nudity track, and lots of my friends did, too. For the most part, nudity has never been an issue to me (other than my own), with a few exceptions. My policy has always been based around, "If there's no blatant sexual stuff, why bother being offended?" It's all shapes to me anyway; though some are obviously nicer to see than others, it's life.

When you get four total channels on TV, most of which feature Canadian pop culture-centric shows, and regularly associate with a friend who has a thirteen- and a fourteen-year-old, pop culture half becomes natural.
Only half, though.

Most of my friends moved to Seattle.
... Or never lived here at all.
I'm not even counting internet-only there.
I recently met up with a (newly married) couple from my college anime club, though, and am getting a (vastly improved) new hard drive from him for free, so eh.
Oh, right. The ones who didn't move away got married or arrested.
Or just dropped off the radar all together.
Or had (a) kid/s.
Or some combination of any or all of the above.
Very, very few exceptions.

It's certainly been an interesting night in current events, eh?
Just out of general curiosity, does anyone know what, if any, implications Jon Stewart's being named a chief have?
Also political / protesting relevant interesting things. Clown wigs, anyone?

Yeah, five hours is pretty standard.
As much as I didn't always enjoy working there, McDonald's has a 3 hours max limit between breaks for over 18, and 2 hours for minors, as well as the number for the labour people under a sign telling employees to always call said labour people if they're worked over company policy, posted on the wall of the employee room (or back of the kitchen, as the situation was in the food court stall).
Also, haha, you're further away from pop culture than I am.
Also, 473 is almost the reverse of my current post count, I think.

With my free DSi points, I got Warioware SNAPPED, and AQUIA.
I had some degree of difficulty with SNAPPED, mostly due to white apartment walls not being a contrasted enough background for my skin in certain lighting, but it was fun once Ray got it to work. It's definitely in the spirit of TOUCHED, but with motion-capture instead of touching the screen or using the mic.
AQUIA, on the other hand, I've enjoyed since I started playing it. It's basically a mix between Tetris and those puzzles where you have to slide the pieces around to get them in the proper order, plus ambient music and fish.
SNAPPED utilizes the DSi camera in a carnival-type setting with some of the usual Wario mischief, whereas AQUIA is buttons-only.
Overall, I'd give SNAPPED 3/5 stars, and AQUIA 4/5.

I'm not a student, but Spring has definitely taken me in a new direction at running speeds.
Yesterday, the temperature reached into the mid-seventies, the sun shone painfully brightly, and the world stretched out provocatively, as if coaxing me to travel up the foothills.
I've been steadily losing weight, and with this is coming self-confidence, energy, and positivity. I'm actually hopeful about getting a job again, and my winter lethargy seems to have passed.
All in all, I'm pretty happy, and I think that it just might help things in the long run.

Filed my taxes yesterday.
I'm quite happy with what my return will be.
Ray and I are hoping to use the money to get two DSis and two copies of Pokemon Platinum.
There's been some very... interesting... stuff going on with friends of ours that's been keeping us busy.
Also, I finally got a new pair of blue glasses, so the sun doesn't give me migraines anymore. :3

I haven't drank too much myself. It seems like kids these days don't know how to use the word drunk as a past tense of drink. ¬.¬ Anyhow, got to spend the week with a friend's kids. They're 13 and 14. It's sad, because they don't know what awesome is. Oh, yeah, we got Rock Band and GH3. Also, unexpected foodstamp bonus gives us 500 for this month (part of which we've spent already). We shall eat like kings... For a while, anyway.

In my BIOS setup, I see nothing relevant to DOS start up, and I've fiddled with everything.
I should note that my BIOS set up has lots of things disabled (not in the sense of toggled off, but in the sense of I can't do ##### to them or they are non-applicable).

I didn't even mention auditory style and aesthetic style at the same time except to say that "music aside, this is why I don't like both of them and why they're comparable" so I really don't understand how you got that idea that I was saying their music sucks because they dress a certain way.
That doesn't even sound like something I'd say.
Yeah, I realized way too late that I was reading your post wrong, haha. It really didn't strike me as something you'd say, which added to my confusion a bit. I also should have been much more specific in noting that I wasn't calling you out on that, just saying that you saying something about how they dress as a reason for not liking them (in general) brought people who do use style of dress to criticize music to mind, and they are the ones that irritate me beyond the point of reason.

I have to admit that I actually like Coldplay, for a large part. They remind me more of a calm Oasis than they ever did U2. They're good for a day when I need music I can relax to that doesn't put me into a trance (a surprising amount of music does that to me). I generally do like the lyrics, when I notice them, though his voice usually fits well enough with the music that I don't notice them. I can't handle Coldplay over a public loudspeaker, but after working in the food court of a mall for over a year, I can safely say that I will hate almost anything played over a public loudspeaker. Look at how both U2 and Coldplay have a frontman who is completely loathsome and both groups dress like morons and think they're better than everyone and don't even try to hide it.
Really, I've always found visual judgement of bands in review (especially criticism) of their music to be irrelevant. I recognize that you have reasons all your own that are relevant to the music, but when you said that, it really, really irritated me. As far as I'm concerned, band's appearance should NEVER, EVER, EVER have an effect on whether or not you enjoy their music in and of itself. It's all stage-relevant, not auditory-relevant. I will admit that there are a few bands I initially got into because I was interested in what drove their visual style, but it's never been about appearances when it comes down to if I enjoy their songs or not.

Well, turns out I've got a general sinus / upper respiratory infection, and not pneumonia.
I should see a "dramatic difference" in five days with the amoxicillin, and I've got an albuterol inhaler so I can actually breathe without gagging and half-drowning.
I'm so happy. It's like being able to come up for air after spending a day half-submerged in a viscous fluid.

I may have told some of you about this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tBw_wSoVQrYIBM 1401. The story is as follows. "This next recording features a singing computer. And it's not a modern computer either. It's an IBM 1401, one of those room-filling mainframes from the 1960s. Johann Johansson is from Iceland and is part of that whole avant-garde performance-art community. His father was a computer engineer who operated the first computer ever brought to Iceland - which was the aforementioned IBM 1401 data processing unit from 1964. Dad - Gunnar Johansson, who was a musician himself - got a little bored at work and began playing with the computer in ways that weren?t intended by its designers. The machine emitted strong electromagnetic waves. By programming the memory in specific ways, dad could get it to 'sing' certain notes and melodies. Those notes and melodies were picked up by a radio received next to the computer. And from there, it was easy to record these notes and melodies on a tape recorder. People thought this was pretty cool. And when the machine was retired in 1971, it was actually given its own funeral where it got to 'sing' one last time. In 2006, Gunnar?s son, Johann, took these recordings and rearranged them into an album called IBM 1401, a User's Manual. It's hauntingly beautiful? and it's weird recording number 3."
(Directly quoted from the transcripts of Alan Cross's The Ongoing History of New Music - 100 weird things about new rock - part 1 - seg. 1)

I refuse to believe that you were using "geeky" in a derogatory sense.
On subject, my persistent cough seems to have evolved into walking pneumonia. Doctor's appointment tomorrow will tell me if I'm right, or if it's some other kind of lung infection.

I am overly fond of keyboards in general. I'd love a keytar, but it's not the same experience as a feckin' Moog. Granted, a keytar is definitely more in my achievable range as far as cost goes, but I'd still love a Moog if given the chance.
