Title: Sakura Convention
Post by: Rama Olendris on 25 February 2008, 23:42:51
This is just a general inquirer; I was wondering if anyone on this forum will be attending Sakura Con in Seattle Washington this year. I'm going this year- this time with GOOD cosplay and not the wannabe drunken Layer thing I did Halloween- because now I have a sewing machine.

Just wondering  :)

Uh... Yeah they can. I think I'm living proof of that.
I beg, but I choose what to beg for, and then I choose to accept what is offered to me when I beg, if I don't like it I don't choose it.

I can tell those girls, while they're not fat, don't get any physical exercise. And I know exactly how they look when they aren't cosplaying and it's not hot. It's like... Extremely nerdy looking girls who go and cosplay and their cosplay is all revealing and stuff but since they don't actually take care of themselves the other 364 days of the year it looks bad and only dudes who so the same thing think they're "hawtt".

I don't know if I'm explaining this correctly but I'm sure someone knows what I'm getting at.

$60 a 3 day pass may be a little steep for us though... so we'll just dress up like idiots at home.

There was a convention in Thunder Bay once.

Ending up not going because I didn't want to see some of my favourite anime characters get ruined my rabid fanboys.

back in '06, I dressed up as a generic cat-boy.

In a fit of boredom I fit myself into one of the group's "dark chii" dresses...

Penguin posted it at Teisel's board, or you did, I think.

I was thoroughly disgusted.

On a lighter note, I might go to the San Diego Comic Con this year.

I'd rather go to the New York one in April, since Mike Mignola will be there... But it's in New York.

No, we didn't have any photos of Ray as Lolita!Catgirl; we only had the one where we were tiny and blurry in the background of a photo.

...God, I'm lonely.

Sorry, no sexy costume this year. I'll be cosplaying as X from the Zero series with his robe because I've always wanted to do that. And fortunately for me and everyone else; I'm not a fat chick who gets 0 exercise. I'm an endurance runner (however I will admit it's a seasonal sport, only able to do in a gym or if the weather is nice).

In any event, if you are going, look for me there and you have a few more days to obtain a ticket for $45 online.

We both have jobs that pretty much allow us to pay the bills, rent and buy food.

What spending money we have is usually also spent on food. Usually.

Maybe next year, SakuraCon.

Then why would you voluntarily go to a place where you know you'd be violated and womanized?

Title: Re: Sakura Convention
Post by: Rama Olendris on 3 March 2008, 23:36:24
Because I can outrun all the violators and I do enjoy my time at conventions. I'm not going to let freaks make me feel upset and stay away from doing something that I like.

RIGHT. You love anime, I'm sure you'd love to go to a convention.

Besides, once you look past the cosplayers and geeks, it's pretty good.

And about 90% less stanky.

I don't know John, I think there are enough sexual deviants at an anime convention that it would be a bad idea, they might flock to the source of the noise.
It'd be kind of like vultures and stuff.

I remember this one year at AX (2003? Maybe '04) my really tall and lanky friend dressed up as the rich kid from Yu-Gi-Oh.

Some Cat girl ran up and glomp'd him.

It was funny since he rocked slightly, but didn't fall down.

I tried the "RAPE" thing once and the guy just giggled and held onto me still, I had to shove him away- then again that was in high school so maybe it will work on someone in a more public setting.

Well, I know you, and you're not bad at all, and that Layer one was pretty sweet. But if I see any other people cosplay BADLY, I will judge them simply on that.

Thank you for supporting my statement that anime conventions are #####ing lame with your personal experience.
You don't need to be a weaboo or an anime ##### to go to conventions, you just need to have enough interest..

Anyway, you have to expect SOME physical contact at a con. It's part of the spirit.

However, if you're being actually molested and the like, definitely report it (and who's doing it) to the staff.

I've recently learned that if a woman is being raped she's taught to not yell "rape" but yell "fire" instead as no one will help them if they yell the former.

Is that not incredibly disgusting?

That's horrible, how can you not help someone if they're being raped?
