Title: Portal (Massive Spoilers)
Post by: Johncarllos on 4 March 2008, 04:34:39
After you maim GLaDOS and end up at the front gate to Aperature Science, what is with the the red and black blocks around the edge of the scenery?
Was it my deathly low settings?
Or was all of Portal a test in itself, with everything being created in a virtual environment?

If anyone knows or can direct me to the answer, I would be pleased.
I haven't played it but I always assumed it was, even from the previews.

I dunno' what you're talking about with red and black blocks. I don't remember that. Wonderful game, though.

Anyway, to answer your question:
The Aperture Science incident is apparently referenced later in the Half-Life 2 expansions, so it DID happen.
I got the boxes, but I just assumed it was because I had a fake copy of Portals. It also crashes every time I finish an advanced level.

Ah, good, Panda has answered my question.
It was my "resolution" that made those blocks.

Sounds like there are some corrupt textures.
The red&black checks (actually they're purple, kids) are the "MIA" texture.

I hate people that call it "Portals".

Panda is the first person I've heard call it that. Ew.

Likewise, didn't notice it the first read-through.
BAD PANDA.

A friend of mind kept asking if I was "still playing Portals?" when I would go on Newgrounds last semester, as I had played the flash version one day. He doesn't know about gaming really so I let it slide. And no, I wasn't still playing it.

I hate people who care about adding an s to things. Seriously, Max Brenner or Max Brenners, I do not give a #####.

Meh. There's only like 3500 of them anyway, they're not gonna hear it.

No. It's awesome. I only played the flash version, and it's pretty good.

Get the real version, and if you have half a brain you'll enjoy it.
Any less than half and you'll hate it.
Any more and you will love it more than the companion cube itself.

I'll try get it, but I don't think they sell it over here anyways. Also, my computer sucks. Because it is for PC, right?

Go to  SteamPowered (http://steampowered.com/v/index.php) it's Valve's online pay and download service, anybody can get Portal with an internet connection.
Hell, get the whole Orange Box.

I let my friend play through Portal yesterday. He beat it in one night. It's fun to watch, even.
