I doubt X gets to go back to 2D. They've already taken him to 3D and people will think its odd for him to go back. I personally would love it, but I doubt it would fly. With Classic they could do it because they stayed in 2D, and then going down in bit level wasn't that big of a deal. But with X, he's had like 3 recent games in 3D, so he's prolly stuck there now.

Mega Man went from dumb Playstation gimmicks like JUMP JUMP and SLIDE SLIDE back to his good ol' classic NES self.

X can do just the same.

I agree that Capcom will do what they know sells, which is usually stickin' to what they know works OR trying to throw something drastically new at fans or possibly keeping up with technology. I don't think Capcom will try to push out another X7-ish game for the X series, the game was not successful as they went right back to side-scrolling for X8 after their stint with Command Mission.

The next game(s) they push out for the X series will either be in 2D, 3D side-scrolling or (if they want to attempt it again) 3D like Command Mission.

I'm pretty sure, when Capcom said they were making Mega Man 9, they were going to use it to reboot the series regardless of past failure.

That's exactly what Mega Man 9 did.

According to RPM, Capcom decides to ignore that, and continue with the crap story X8 left off.

Also, all the screens do look pretty fake. Not as fake as their last attempt with a "Rockman DASH DS", but still pretty bogus.

Did you ever read their comments when Mega Man 9 was announced? They all claimed it was fake, and that Nintendo Power's claims were a hoax, because there was no announcement of a "Rockman 9", just Mega Man 9.
