How long do you plan on talking about video games? 'Cause you're going to have to go all the way back into the late 1960s...a speech could end up taking a few class periods.
1002  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: Matricians: Show your Music! on: 26 February 2008, 03:22:41
"Mike, Aaron and Eddie" - Haiku d'Etat

Good song, I first heard that on the ESPN NBA 2K5 soundtrack. I just wish I could have found more from Jay Rich, another artist on that album.

Right now I'm listening to Rammstein "Links 2 3 4".
1003  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: Matricians: What are you watching? on: 25 February 2008, 06:55:37
I did think Rattatouille deserved best animated film, and Golden Compass for best visual effects. They spent enough money, at least.

I thought Persepolis should have won it, but I knew it had a snowball's chance in hell of winning.
1004  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: Matricians: What are you watching? on: 25 February 2008, 02:49:30
THE GOLDEN #####ING COMPASS WINS FOR BEST VISUAL EFFECTS? ARE YOU #####ING KIDDING ME?
1005  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: Least favorite anime character? on: 25 February 2008, 01:45:31
Johto is when I stopped watching, mainly because I had moved on to other shows like Dragon Ball Z and Gundam Wing. I still tune in every once in a while if I'm bored.
1006  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: Matricians: What are you watching? on: 25 February 2008, 01:44:25
I'm stuck here at the library, so I'll just follow it on Yahoo!
1007  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: The MOVIE Thread on: 25 February 2008, 01:37:02
Fair enough. I'd say they needed filler, but it was a LONG movie anyway.

Musicals always, always, ALWAYS have filler. The difference is when they can actually make it work. Across the Universe made it work sometimes, other times it was absolutely terrible. There was seriously one transition when the characters seriously said "Hey! What's that over there," leading right into the next song. It's like...you've got to be kidding me.
1008  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: The MOVIE Thread on: 25 February 2008, 01:18:40
Yeah...which brings me to my main problem in the movie. Unnecessary characters like Prudence and to a degree, Dr. Robert and Mr. Kite, are thrown in just so they can make 20+ more Beatles references. Great for inside jokes, crappy for an actual film.
1009  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: Least favorite anime character? on: 25 February 2008, 01:15:09
Any character from Fruits Basket or Inuyasha.

Edit: The people in Final Fantasy: Unlimited also suck.
1010  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: The MOVIE Thread on: 25 February 2008, 01:12:35
I agree with you on Prudence. "...you'll let me be your man" threw me off a bit.

She just sucked as a character. There was nothing to her at all from the very start, she was annoying in any scene that she was in other than the final one, and her singing was crap. The whole "Oh my god, is that Prudence" thing during the Mr. Kite circus...way to ruin a great scene.
1011  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: Matricians: What are you watching? on: 25 February 2008, 01:10:28
What exactly is there to take seriously?

Beats me, dude. You're the fan of them, not me.

According to my one friend, it's "a way of life", which involves going to their concerts and getting incredibly #####ed up and...I think that's it. What makes them different from Dave Matthews and Grateful Dead fans is apparently nothing more than some stupid makeup all over their faces.

1012  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: The MOVIE Thread on: 25 February 2008, 01:03:04
Actually, "Horton Hears a Who" does look surprisingly good.

Mike, "Across the Universe" is a gem. Any haters out there who say they ruined the songs are just losers who think they know what they're talking about. Nobody expected the covers to math the original Beatles tracks in any way, it's all about putting them together in a single wonderful, unique experience. It's also a good movie to watch with a girl, so yeah, wait 'till you can watch it with her.
It gets slow at some bits, but too much of it is amazing so you never get bored.

The Prudence character is a waste of time and film. Bono was unnecessary, but whatever. It was still good.
1013  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: Matricians: What are you watching? on: 24 February 2008, 20:08:41
Dude, you listen to Insane Clown Posse. You have no room to talk.

Every time you post in any thread regarding movies, music or TV I'm ashamed that we're the same species.

We are? I haven't counted you guys as part of the same species since my buddy forced me to listen to "Homies".

Honestly, why do Juggalos expect people to take them seriously?
1014  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: The MOVIE Thread on: 24 February 2008, 19:56:22
I saw Persepolis last night in my roommate's hometown. They have an indie theater there, and the owner pretty plays whatever she damn well pleases. Apparently last week she ran a showing of all of the short films that were nominated for Oscars; this week she had The Bucket List (if someone wanted to go see it, I'd go), The Savages (Want to see this), There Will Be Blood (Already saw it...it was good, but I don't need to see it again), and Persepolis. Persepolis was really good. Really funny at times, and I thoroughly enjoyed the animation.

I also watched Matchstick Men last night at his buddy's house. Good movie.
1015  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: The "How Was Your Day?" Thread on: 23 February 2008, 18:17:24
We don't know. We still haven't found a clear way of riding it. We're having tons of fun, though.

Oh, #####. I remember when those things came out. There were supposed to be multiple ways that you could ride it, but the only way that I can remember someone being able to ride it without looking like a complete douche was like a scooter. I also remember some of the kids trying to use it like a bobsled, but that usually ended with little success.
1016  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: Matricians: What are you watching? on: 23 February 2008, 18:08:04
Why?

I've never had an inkling of interest in NYPD Blue. Not a smidge, not even shtickle.

That's because you have TASTE.

Dude, you listen to Insane Clown Posse. You have no room to talk.

I watched DOA: Dead or Alive with my roommates last night. Fun was had by all.
1018  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: What game are you playing? on: 22 February 2008, 15:27:16

1019  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: Top Video Game Characters on: 22 February 2008, 15:25:35
Earthworm Jim, Fox McCloud, and Fulgore.

I never really got into the video games, but the cartoon show was the best.

As some of you know, I work in a library while I'm at college. Anyway, this is something that I received from my old roommate Bayer after I had talked with his girlfriend while I was at work, helping her out with some stuff.

Bayer: nibblets
Bayer: i just got off the phone with joscelyn
Bayer: stop flirting with her
Bayer: using your library prestige to impress
Bayer: "oh hey is this scan good enough?"
Bayer: who are you fooling you sex addict

One with my brother after I had been to the MOMA in New York City

Me: Did you know that Jackson Pollack produced works of art that aren't complete crap?
J.L.: I did not know that. I guess everyone has an off-day.

And this last one was right before or during the 2004 elections. This one was with Mobius Xeppa (I think that's how his name was spelled), otherwise known as Graham.

Me: You're a #####ing loser.
Graham: I can't vote, though...
Me: Oh really? I was just making conversation.

I woke up around 11 AM this morning and had the beer #####s. Fun stuff (not really).

I'm going to be going over to my favorite professor's office soon with my roommate so we can bitch to her about the Race & Graphic Novel class. We feel like the two professors teaching the class don't know what they're doing, and while she probably wouldn't be able to do anything about it, at least she'll understand and have more ammo to use against them later on.

I have Film & Filmmakers at 3:30 PM and I don't feel like going. I would skip it, but we have to watch a film clip today and write a 1-2 page paper on it that's due Monday. Monday is also the same day that we take our midterm for that class, as well as my Cost Accounting midterm. Yippy skippy.

I still have yet to receive my Advent Rising bonus DVD, although it's probably on its way. On the other hand, I won a Mr. Potato Head while at lunch.

There were a couple that I had with Rez. I don't know if I still have them saved on my computer, but they went something like this:

Me: JAKECOCK DEFEAT ALL OTHER COCK IN COCK BATTLE!
Rez: You blew on the cookie first, eh? Good boy.

Me: *clink clink*
Me: WAAAARIORS! COME OUT AND PLAAAAAAY-AY!
Rez: They can't.
Me: Why not?
Rez: They have a Capitol One card.

Computer Engineering isn't just about circuits and logic gates, honey.
We do more than enough programming, so we DO need to know how to do it efficiently.

Computer engineers from Kuwait DO IT with efficiency!

1030  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: Discussion Topic (for obscure/intellectual topics) on: 18 February 2008, 00:13:37
If people actually used a religious discussion board for its proper use (i.e. supporting statements, asking questions, not bashing), then it could work out well. I won't push the issue, though, as a religious board doesn't really fit the aspects of the board anyway.

Screw that. It might start out nice, but such a thing would only get worse as it dragged on due to stupid fanboys.

Daft Punk "Fresh"

I feel like rocking out to something at 3:37 AM that won't wake up my roommates. Otherwise I'd be blasting The F-Ups "All the Young Dudes".

The video game that you're talking about is Spore, Will Wright's latest thing. It isn't out in stores yet (no demo released either); it isn't due out until either the end of this year or the start of 2009.

Edit: According to Yubi, it is getting a September release.

I wanted to see that, but it came out right at the end of the semester and was out of theaters before I got back to college.

I saw Definitely, Maybe today. It was good. Nice to see Ryan Reynolds do a role that's both comedic and dramatic.

"Nero brandishes Blue Rose, a unique six-shooter with a distinctive under-and-over double barrel, and Red Queen, a customized and meticulously embellished single-edged blade."

The gun is unique, not Nero. HE IS UNIQUE JUST LIKE EVERYONE ELSE.
1038  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: The MOVIE Thread on: 16 February 2008, 04:57:35
I dunno, I think he's okay. I've heard that he was great in Shattered Glass, and I thought he was okay in Awake and Jumper. He's good for the "everyman" roles like James Franco. Unfortunately, that's about all he can do well.
1039  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: The MOVIE Thread on: 16 February 2008, 03:55:14

Actually, to tell the truth, I knew about this movie since last year.

No lies.

I did too, but I've always enjoyed that "Hello, and welcome to last week" picture. It fits.

I saw Jumper today. I thought it was interesting and fun, but there isn't anything great about it. I hope that they make enough money for them to make a sequel.

1041  MegaMan Series / Classic Series / Re: Real MEGA MAN? on: 14 February 2008, 09:33:37
Mikero's right. When I'm not in college, I work used to work (they just got rid of the shift that I was on) at a produce factory that employed people who spoke all different languages, including a lot of Spanish-speaking people. I haven't taken a Spanish class for six years. If someone wrote down a sentence or order for me, I could get the gist of what they were saying. If they said it to me, it would take my brain a moment to not only figure out what they were saying, but to put my thoughts in a basic form of Spanish so I could respond and not look like a complete idiot. You need to keep learning this stuff, or at least continually be around people who speak it so you can still at least understand it for years to come.
1042  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: Soul Calibur IV, I am your New Challenger! on: 14 February 2008, 09:24:52
I forget which one of my gaming magazines talked about it (I'll look it up tomorrow or the day after that), but word has it that a few months after the game is released, you'll be able to buy the console-exclusive characters through PS3 and 360's marketplaces (much like how you can get New Goblin for Spider-Man 3 over Live Marketplace even though originally he was a PS3 exclusive).

In other words, PS3 owners will be able to buy Yoda a few months later, 360 users will be able to get Vader. They also hinted at other Star Wars characters begin available, including Jango Fett. Why him, I don't know.
1043  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: Devil May Cry on: 14 February 2008, 09:19:52
The art book that Gamestop gives away to people who pre-ordered the game says flat out that Nero is unique.

I wonder why they think that?

I flipped through it last night; the only time they use the word "unique" around Nero is when they're talking about his gun.

He's there, but I'm not quite sure how exactly you play as him. I'm six chapters into DMC 4, and I've only played as Nero. Dante is definitely in the game, the opening scenes have him in a totally badass fight with Nero.

Edit: Hell, the opening fight between Nero and Dante alone is worth the money that you paid for the game.
