Title: Some games you may not remember( or ever heard of)
Post by: riakage on 16 December 2007, 08:04:23
Man I remember playing these games all the time, but no one ever heard of them.

Dragon Quest Monsters 2:Tara's and Cobi's Adventures(two seperate games) for GBC
Mischief Makers for N64
Conkers Bad Fur Day for N64
Doubutsu no Mori for N64
Glover for N64
Gex: Enter the Gecko for Playstation
Rayman for Playstation
Wario Land(1,2, and 3) for GBC
Shining Force (can't rember which system, I had it on a collectors edition PC disc)
Dokapon Monster Hunter for GBA

Every single one of those games are not widely known, but these games are some of the funnest games I have ever played. I think the most popular ones on there are the Wario Land games and Doubutsu no Mori(known in America as Animal Crossing)

I have Shining Force on a GBA.. alternative. I don't know if it's the same as the one you mentioned. I remember most of those games you said, but not all of them were good and I didn't play all of them.

Conker was dope though. The original, not Xbox. But it is widely known, and Dragon Quest Monsters 2, and Wario Land are as well.

Yes, the Shining Force on the GBA is pretty much the same thing, but with more features.
I know the Wario Land is widely known, but I think that is mostly because of Wario Land 4, and the Conker on the 64 was awesome, screw that Xbox crap they called a game.

I do have one more game to add to this list that next to no one has ever heard of.

Jazz Jackrabbit

I used to play Dragon Quest Monsters (the original one) on gameboy all the time. I played the gameboy version of Conker as well.

Rayman (the original one) was always one of my favourite games, and so was Jazz Jackrabbit; which was probably the first game I ever played online.

Here's an awesome series that very few people played: Commander Keen.

Most people I know, actually.

Mischief Makers isn't that unknown. Generally if a person knows of Gunstar Heroes, they'll know of Mischief Makers.

Gex and Gex 3D are fairly well known too.

So is Rayman. I've played through Wario Land as well.

Wario Land is a great platformer.

Dragon Quest Monsters, FTW!

All Dragon Quest games in general are awesome though.

The games I played were: Dragon Quest Monsters (1 and 2, actually, and now Joker for DS), Mischief Makers (love it), Conkers Bad Fur Day (never played the XBox one but it sucks apparently), Doubutsu no Mori (exact same thing as the GCN one...), Glover (have it, don't remember ANYTHING about it), Gex: Enter the Gecko (have it, remember it sucking), and Wario Land (I've only played and beat the second and first... I've never tried the third yet. D:).

So yeah, I played most games on your list.

I think I rented Gex, because I have the distinct impression of it sucking hard.

The only reason Gex sucked was because of its retarded camera. Mishcief Makers is VERY unknown, especially to today's average gamers. I have never played Commander Keen but I heard it was from the rival company of Jazz Jackrabbit. The Original Rayman isn't known as well as today's piece o' crap rayman games. Gex is also very unknown because it had little popularity when it came out and it had but 3 or 4 games.

Lol, the gameboy version of Conker is absolutely NOTHING compared to the N64 version. And I will put it like this.

In the gameboy version, you had to run around talking to the cute and furry woodland creatures, shooting enemies with your slingshot and collecting stuff and things like that.

Then our little Conker grew up and made it to the N64, where he slapped the hell out of people with his frying pan, getting drunk and pissing on people at the clubs, and even going so far as to joinging the army and robbing a bank(matrix style of course)

Don't forget fighting a monster made of #####.

I don't know man, I'm not very hardcore game-wise and I remembered all those games you mentioned safe a couple, and I can remember seeing them all in the same homebrew backwater place.

Yeah, they didn't make the monster any better by having him SING about #####.

Virtual Console is what lets you get old Sega, N64, SNES, NES and other games on your Wii. Not THAT.

Ecco The Dolphin.

Haaah. I had so much fun not know what the ##### to do. Echo location? Why even have that? Like, there's NO other dolphins around Ecco, you mook. They all got sucked into a vortex or some thing!

Or whatever. I don't really remember the game well other than it didn't tell me what was going on slash what to do and it would've been extremely boring (well it was) if I couldn't jump out of the water.

... I was like 10 or so...

Who hasn't played Commander Keen?

Anyone who doesn't remember Windows 3.x, MS-DOS or the still useful today Norton Commander?

*cough*

I've played all the Keens! 1-6 including Dreams and the horrible GBC game. Commander Keen is a childhood memory for a lot of people...I first played Keen 4 when I was 5 years old, it was just as fun now as it was then. The 1990s and the very late 80s were such a great time for PC games(and NES games too), its when they really started getting good.

And let us not forget that the Commnader Keen series started the Dopefish phenomenon! ::)

I have tons of classic DOS games....Jazz Jackrabbit(The orginal 9 episodes) Epic Pinball, Zone Raiders, Tyrian, Radix: Beyond the void, Lemmings, Dune, and Descent 1 and 2....

Windows games are cool...But DOS games rock.

I didn't much care for the DOS Megaman games though. They were icky!

Yep thats Keen 4, which is still free to download across the internet....You will need DOSbox to run it properly on XP though.

Earthworm Jim.

Peter Puppy
Psycrow
Professor Monkey for the Head
Bob the Killer Goldfish
Evil the Cat.

Need I go on?

TV show was classic.  Because it was done by Warner Brothers back during the Animaniacs/Freakazoid era when it was pure win.

I didn't much care for the DOS Megaman games though. They were icky!

dude I loved them, I have the very first original megaman game for dos, if you were to run it on a modern day computer it's unplayable cause everything goes to fast. all the animations and crap move as fast as the processer allows. I wish I could build a random peice of crap to play it.

any of you guys played Parasite Eve? it was well know, but rarely thought about. I loved it, untill I got stuck, then my PS1 burned out and I was gameless for like 4 years, no joke. I need to find my memory card now that I have a PS2.

RCT was a novel game, and kept me occupied for a good year or so on and off. I lost interest because it is pretty time-consuming, and I had better things to do with my life. When it first came out, I was the prime age for playing it non-stop, not that I can remember how old I was without checking when the game came out.

Building roller coasters to nowhere and subsequently launching tourits to their deaths was just as much a part of the game as the actual theme park simulation was.
I'm trying really hard to remember the cheats - back then, it was a big thing when someone found out a cheat for Roller Coaster Tycoon or Starcraft... those were both popular back then, and the internet was still new to me and my group of friends.

My group of friends and I. Whatever. Shut up, Sano.

That was basically all I really remember doing in that game.

"LOL ROCKET RIDE FLIES AWAY AND EXPLODES"

And then you drown the amusement park mascot by picking him up and dropping him in the water...

Or box about 100 tourists into a secluded area and watch them drift towards the bad emotes like "hungry" or "angry" until eventually the game just makes them disappear without adding to your park death count.

Not just roller coasters, but every theme park attraction. From the information booth to the restrooms to the restaraunts to the ferris wheels to, of course, the roller coasters.

Looking back, it really is a deep game.

I remember the game well. I loved it. Crashing coasters, earning money, everything. I didn't care about the little goal I was supposed to go for, I just wanted to built my own park.

And yeah, I heard from the game or a manual (something) that when angry tourists propose a problem. When they get ticked off because the park sucks, money issues, or whatever, they break your equipment and generally can make other people mad as well.

Solution?

Drown them.

I'm like Santa, except if you've been naughty, I kill you. ^_^

Raptor: Call of the Shadow - Raiden-style plane shooter, oodles of guns, oodles of power-ups. One of the biggest such games I've ever played.

Star Wars: X-Wing and its follow up, TIE Fighter - simply put, two of the best games of all time.
