Title: Final Fantasy IV
Post by: Rama Olendris on 20 May 2008, 15:42:44
Is anyone excited about the remake of Final Fantasy IV/II for the DS which will be coming out in July?

I personally am completely stoked, this has been my second favorite Final Fantasy (next to VI) for my entire life. This game also is one of the earliest games I remember seeing. I can't wait to play it in English and see the improvements to plot, character development, artwork and game play.

V.V I'm gushing....

Sorry Japanese only, you can look it up on Youtube and Gamestop online probably.

I never played the original FF III but I have played it on the DS. It was incredibly boring for me.

Having played the Japanese DS FF4 through to the point you get Tellah, I can say it's a mindblowing remake.  The music is upgraded but so faithful it sounds perfect.  I love the new style for the in game stuff.  There was a good deal of spoken dialog and the opening movie will make you cream your pants.  THIS is a game from the era when Final Fantasy was an A++ series.

I can't wait for the domestic release.  It's definitely a must have if you're an RPG fan.  And if you think you're a Final Fantasy fan, pick this up so you can see what the series was really like before it went to complete #####.

I'm definately picking this up. My favourite Final Fantasy game.

My favourite FF (and one of the only once I actually liked a lot) too. I might get it but it all depends on timing.

Edit: Edge looks awesome, so does the darker Cecil and pretty much everyone else (Yang has blonde hair?). But I'm not entirely keen on the light Cecil. I don't dig the whole guys who look like girls genre.

Rydia = best FF girl ever.  She even comes in both loli and non loli flavor to suit everyone's tastes!

I think you might have to give into this though... It is a major 'fad' in Japan (has been for hundreds of years, actually) and it's not going away anytime soon. You might not like it, I'm not asking you to, but I hope you can tolerate it, for your sake.

Rydia = <3 Not only is she NOT annoying, she's one of the most useful characters ever. And her being eye candy is a bonus! <3 And... she's green, my favorite color <3!! Rydia was the only female FF character other than Celese (I hope I spelled that right...) and Terra that I have NEVER wanted to kill or ignore completely.

These new FF games (ever since FFVII *cringe*) have just lost their touch to me. I just can't get into them and most of them are annoying and redundant. I love the music though, and the art, but I don't think I'll be playing any of the newer Final Fantasies other than remakes, anytime soon. V.v;

Agreed. >_>

Celes from Final Fantasy VI? Pretty close.

Yeah, I know. Don't worry, I've met enough fangirls and see enough anime to know.

And yeah Rydia is great.

Yes.

Anyway, here's the English trailer, with the English voice overs:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=bKmuaU2WoKg

The voice acting is really good, and I'm diggin' the Shakespearian dialogue.

Also, I have always pronounced Cecil's name as "Se-Seal"... ten years later and I find out that its pronounced as "Sess-Ill".

It's both. People pronounce it both ways. My uncle, for example, is "Sess-Ill", while the guy in Dot's Diner is "Sea-Sill".

I... I don't believe it.
I actually want to play this now. I HATE how slow this game gets.
But...
... that voice acting is amazing.

I've always said it "Sess-Ill", which is remarkable considering I live in Florida, where it's "Sea-sull".

Sea-Sill, Sess-Ill, that's not how I've pronounced it.

Se-Seal, or maybe better as Seh-Seal. The girly way to say it, but only because I didn't know that there was a manly way.

It's okay to go off topic, especially if you read the rules.
