I wouldn't mind 6 too much if half of the game's contents were axed from the original Japanese version.

And BN4 removed the great ADD function from BN1-3... what a terrible decision.

... I completely forgot to add that.  Yes.  That was a HUGE blow to the gameplay.

... you could have spent that $5 and had someone punch you in the face.  And it would have been better spent.

3) Chip selection/Program Advances were neutered.  3 is somewhat guilty of this as well, as what was expanded upon to the nth degree in 4-6 started in 3.  Program Advances were almost as worthless in 4-6 as they were in 1, but in 1 they were really a lot more downplayed and "secret".  2 has the best chip selection and PAs in the series hands down.  The broken PAs were fairly hard to get and I think that balanced it out well enough.  Chips themselves were also toned down far too much and the folder limits were just ridiculous in the last 3 games.  Even though 3 took a noticeable hit in this department, again, it wasn't as exacerbated as in 4-6.

This will be an extra mini rant from me in addition to this: Only thing I can really comment, since I agree with everything else, is that I liked the chips and chip system in BN3. Maybe I'm missing something, but it was right to me. I also enjoyed limiting chips to Standard, Mega, and Giga. Even limiting the chips like so, the game still was balanced. Standard chips kept a battle going, Mega pumped it up a little, and Giga chips could be devastating.

When I played BN4, that felt lost. Some of my favorite chips that were Standard and SHOULD'VE REMAINED standard were now Mega. Also, Mega chips felt as weak as Standard chips. It's like the lowered the bar so much on them, they completely unbalanced everything. In my first playthrough, I got my FIRST Mega chip when I was HALFWAY through the game. ONLY ONE.

Let me explain how that feels. Try playing Mega Man 2 and only after beating 4 of the Robot Masters do you get a weapon. ABOUT FREAKING TIME. The chips felt hardly of any use or of an improvement to your folder no matter what, and getting any GOOD ones involved replaying the game. You have to run with crap, and choose the BEST crap out of whatever crap you have to choose from, and beat the final boss with that.

OH THATS SO ENJOYABLE LETS PLAY THIS GAME.

BN3 started the crap too, Chaos. The classes limited the Navi chips and other chips you could have, and multiples too.

For example, you can't have Muramasa, a Mega chip, and 5 Navi Chips. Only 4, since they now classified all as Mega...

What they should have done, if anything, is keep the Standard class, add a new class for those slightly powerful standard chips from BN2 that AREN'T Navi Chips, (Maybe call THAT the Mega class and call the Navi Chips the Navi Class), have the Navi chips in another class, and finally, the Giga class.

That's how I think it should have been done. And of course the new class would have the same restrictions as the Mega class did, except it didn't limit the Navi chips you could have too...

BUT I DIGRESS...

Yeah, but you see, I LIKED that. Muramasa is a pretty powerful chip, and worthy of a Mega class. I dunno, I thought the chip selection and classes given felt right in Battle Network 3.

Not so much in BN4.

##### YOU MMBN4

MURAMASA IS NOT A GOD DAMNED DARK CHIP!!!!

...though I was totally cool with it being a Mega chip, I made more damage with it, and the body guard PA, than half of the navi chips.

Too bad the BodyGuard PA was horrible nerfed in BN4.

10 stars. 100 damage each... up to 1000 damage, but they shoot SLOW... if I recall correctly.

In BN2 and 3 it did 1800 damage total if all hit. And to bosses that usually happens.

Guys it doesn't matter the (I guess) person hasn't played BN1-3 because they said they liked BN6 because you get those cross things. So BN1-3, which is pretty devoid of any of that spectacularly gimmicky garbaggio, is going to somehow end up on this kid's ##### list real quick.

I would have to say 3 or 6, because I've never played 1 & 2. I have 4 & 5, but 4 made you replay the game 3 times. And 5 had those liberation missions.

But BN2 is by far the best.

Huh. I always thought it was viewed as "BN2 > BN3 > BN1 > the rest".

Although I do like BN1 better than BN3. BN3 added the stupid chip classes that made normal chips from BN1/2 basically into Navi Chips. Not to mention alot of the game's scenarios are on the Net instead of a stage.

Either way, blah blah BN4 and above suck blah blah.

I've never played BN1, but I've seen enough of it that I'm pretty sure I'd like it better than BN3, which was pretty good enough but still rather disappointing after the success of BN2. The same exact thing happened with Back To The Future.

A sequel is always judged harder than a It's kind of like...

OK think of the movie Rope. If a filmmaker was just starting out and Rope was his/her first film, everyone would think it's a pretty great job. However, Rope was done by Alfred Hitchcock and after the movies he'd done before it, it doesn't compare and it widely regarded as one of (if not definitely) his least entertaining films.

So even if BN1 and BN3 are on par with each other, BN1 is better because BN3 should have learned from the past.

My first BN game was the red sun (Lucky cause if i got blue moon i would have stuck with all the crappy souls) i was nooby at video games at that time so I did some stupid stuff then i got BN 6 Gregar which was the first BN game i ever fully completed (and I mean FULLY) and it was pretty fun for me, then i got BN 3 white and was a better challenge then 6 which i enjoyed alot, I spent most of my time to get Aqua cust, then i rebought red sun and by this time i was way better at BN games and was less difficult then before (But duo was still a pain in my ass) and Ive almost fully completed the game i just all the mega chips and P.A's. It's pretty difficult to pick one I like the most.
