No way, capcom could use same reason for doing MM9, but it would make them seem way too tacky. Plus X8's gameplay was really good, if they could make X9 in the same way (with some fixes) it would be a great game.

I'd prefer it like X4. I found it to have the most fluid controls.

No, the X games were supposed to signify a new generation via the increase in technology with Super Nintendo.

Going back to 8-bit with MegaMan 9 makes sense, because that's literally square one.

With X9, it's stupid because SNES graphics are in-between, not retro or cutting-edge.

True, but for the most part I miss having certain qualities that aren't in the new games. Like looking all over for subtanks and stuff. And the levels are total ass.

I REALLY don't give a #####. It will have Axl. Plus, I really don't need an OFFICIAL 16-bit Axl flooding the internet and sprite comics. Not that I read sprite comics.

I agree with Mikero.  If they make X9, it will have Fagxl.  And while I still think X1 is the best game in the series hands down, I do agree X4 had the best game play and controls.

X8 wasn't awful from the basic run, jump shoot side, but everything else about it was significantly lacking from the early games.  I want a full 2D X game.  Frankly, doing a 2D game in 3D has always been a ridiculous idea.  3D visuals have never done justice to good sprite work (or even mediocre sprite work) for the most part and if the gameplay IS 2D, why the ##### does it need to be rendered in 3D?  Because the dip#####s of this generation can't play a game if it doesn't require a $5000 graphics card to render 3D graphics on it.

Inafune talks about going "back to basics" on MegaMan 9, well the X series DESPERATELY needs to do this.  They need to get rid of Axl, focus on X and Zero, solid action based platforming and a minimalist plot to tie the game togher that DOESN'T have to #####ing fit into some badly scripted grandiose timeline.

Of course this guarantees it will NEVER happen.

So...a plot that boils down to "Axl goes Maverick and works to revive Sigma, so X and Zero have to stop him/kill him off" would make you happy?

If they were to make X9, I would rather see it with X4's graphics instead.

But even then, I don't really want to see X9.. especially since I'm sure Inafune wants it to STAY dead.

X5 was a bullet to the head of Mega Man X.  Inafune and Capcom killed it ages ago.

Even if Axl was in an X9 (because he can't die first as he's in CM and Inafune loves his timelines too much) I wouldn't care as long as he was BACKGROUND. Good X and Z gameplay, and a good plot. The plot doesn't have to drive it like CM or anything, just something solid and just enough. Like X4. Yeah.

I want MM9 to have a solid plot too. I want a good story. But there's a limit. I don't want some huge thing that tries oh so hard to be an epic. I don't want hour long cutscenes like MGS4. Just something good, but not overbearing.

Okay, but I meant like the story they have now, with Dr. Light being framed and MegaMan trying to prove him innocent, that's more than enough for me.

I don't want some stupid ##### like "DR. LIGHT REALLY IS GUILTY, AND ZOMG WILY WASN'T LYING, AND WHOAH LOOK THERE'S ZERO"

If they could make X9 look like the old games, play like X4, allow you to duck, AND not force you to play as Axl, then it would be OK with me.

It's too much wishful thinking, though.

Ducking was implemented better in ZX. It was a pain in the ass in X6.

Yeah, that was some grade-A bull##### right there! I remember doing it JUST because I wanted to see if they didn't ##### it up.

PEEEEW-PEEEEW-PEEEEEW

I was angry.

Ducking in ZX was more of a chore, since you have to switch to human form to do it. At least in Advent they gave human (/reploid) form a blaster.

Ducking would have helped out many times beforehand.

And it could be implemented in a crawl (but still able to attack) pose, but whatever.

It is unnecessary, I guess.

Unnecessary only because levels weren't designed with it in mind. It's not a bad idea to have him crouch and shoot over a low wall at some guy that can't safely be destroyed otherwise. It would be a fine addition if they did it right.

There were a few points in the other games where it would help.
I hated dashing under projectiles just to dodge them when just ducking would have sufficed.

It would be like...
... like the slide kick in Super Mario 64.
Almost never useful, but not a problem.

I remember fighting Double in X4 and wondering how to dodge his giant wave attack (the first one).

Then I find out you have to dash under it. Yeah. Took me too long to figure out. But I think that was the only time in X4 that ducking would've worked... so yeah.  I don't remember using it in X5 except for the Intro Boss.

But the point is that it's difficult to dodge these attacks because you have to dash, not duck.

You guys are starting to sound like those people who want X to be able to shoot up...

It's logical. Besides, he can shoot up when using other weapons.
From the point of view that it makes the game more difficult, yeah, I guess that's okay, but then if you could shoot up, imagine how clever they could be.

Oh, wait, this is Capcom.
Never mind that.

WRONG.

Imagine how clever Capcom used to be, not what it could be. Jesus, name the last idea they had that didn't send Rez on a rampage. Besides, we all know that if Capcom let X shoot up, it'd come with some sort of negative side-effect, like "PICK DASH OR SHOOT UP AT BEGINNING OF LEVEL!" or something.  *shudder*

Now that I think of it, dashing and shooting up at the same time might be slightly problematic for the games.
Not sure how.
Just seems kind of awkward.

Not at all. You keep moving forward while you're dashing, leaving you time to aim up.

Dash-JUMPING while firing up might be a difficulty.

Animation-wise, they're professionals. They can figure out a way to make it look good.

Actually, dash-jumping and shooting up would probably make it easier to hit the target, but I digress.
What I meant was a "pick one or the other for the entire level" situation.  Certain levels would be drastically difficult if you don't know which one to choose. EXAMPLE:
You're in a level where you have to dash under things or die.  If you don't know the level, and you choose to shoot up, then you lose. OR you're in a level with multiple ceiling enemies.  Sure, dashing could get you by, but what if you're a "kill every last damn enemy in the entire #####ing level" kind of guy like me? You're pissed at those enemies that are totally ignored. The possibilities are CHAOTIC!

Or they just won't let you shoot up.  Which is probable.
Or they just won't make a MMX9. Which is probable, even with the release of MM9.
