Most of my grammar errors are intentional.  I find it amusing.  Most of my spelling errors are because I failed 2nd grade spellling.

Hi,

I could definitely pull of IceMan.

A little over 3 months till my 18th birthday though, nor do I have any actual desire to do such a thing.

So yeah, I was at MAGFest for the last four days. During this time, they held a panel for this movie (I didn't get to attend, but the scheduling was stupid anyway - why hold a Q&A panel days before you show the movie), and they also showed a super rough cut of the film (which I did attend).

Okay...it's about as good as you'd think it would be.

Quick rundown:

The Good:
-Wily's castle looks awesome, as do quite a few of the other special effects
-Does well with it's budget (which is apparently 3 times what it should have been at this point)
-Some nice video game references thrown in for those paying attention.
-The guy who plays Dr. Wily really hams it up.
-Proto Man is the coolest character in the movie
-The overall look of the Robot Masters, as well as Mega Man, is nice.
-Yellow Devil was badass.

The Bad:
-The girl who plays roll is annoying as #####, and the guy who plays Dr. Light isn't too great either.
-Dialogue sucks, and some of the actors can't save it.
-Most of the fight scenes aren't that good.

Now of course, with a super rough cut, you have to realize that not everything that should be there will be there. Music and special effects weren't there for some of the scenes, leaving for some unintentionally hilarious moments, and there were some spots where it felt like scenes weren't completely shot yet. While we (a 3/4s-filled room) did laugh our asses off throughout the film, we all stood up and clapped at the end. I'm hoping that they'll show a more completed form at the next MAGFest.

The movie has a lot of heart. It does. But in the end, I get the same vibe that I got from the unreleased 1994 Fantastic Four movie: Lots of heart, but it would've been better (or at least tolerable) as a syndicated Saturday afternoon show. As a fan-made film, it's not bad. As a regular film...it's really not that good.

Then you should have finished by now!

One of the people there at the showing had also attended the Q&A panel. Apparently the film was supposed to have been done quite a bit ago, but it's taken them hell of a lot longer than it should have, and the budget blew up like no other (although the person couldn't remember how much they had said they spent on the movie).

10 minutes in, and I'm liking it so far. Roll is stupid but I like her more since obviously, she's not taken seriously, and Wily does a pretty good job.

Also, Metal Gear Awesome easter egg (although blatantly placed).

It wasn't incredible by no means, but it was entertaining.

And Fatso, I, unfortunately, don't know of any download links for it.

I loved it! I wasn't expecting any high art, just a fun fan-made tribute! And honestly, it was very competently done. Special effects aside (and they did a great job with the low budget), it was well-directed.

The acting wasn't that bad, either - the particular standouts were Dr. Light and Dr. Wily, and I hate to admit it, but the girl playing Roll was pretty good at playing a naive character like that. Roll came off a lot better with the context of the actual movie surrounding her. I also really liked the guy playing ElecMan.

Definitely worth the watch!

Not really.

Then again, maybe something's wrong with both of us.

Ended up just streaming it anyway. There was a lot of cringe fuel but not as much as I was expecting, and in general it was very well done. Still trying to wrestle the temporary file onto my computer to get a more permanent version (can't copy/rename it while the browser is open, but it deletes itself when I close the tab)

EDIT: I thought vimeo would have moved to a newer container than AVI by now. Oh well, the file is safe and sound now.

Kilo bits.

That's roughly 93KiloBytes per second.

It's good enough for surfing the internet, but it takes a huge toll when 2 people are trying to use computers on that connection.

Well, I saw it this weekend, and I have to say, for what it was, it was pretty good.  The end kind of came up a bit fast and the last sequence kind of made me wtf as far as the back and foreth between Copy Robot and Mega Man, but other than that, I was pleased.

Of course you can sit down and nit pick the thing to death (I won't), but I will say I thought Wily made the movie.  I just wish his hair and 'stach would have been all white (there I go nit picking).

It does have it's fair share of cringe moments (which aren't all bad really) but it's a college film.  And I will say that this thing is INFINITELY better done on all levels than 90% of all the other game to movie franchises out there (Resident Evil, Mario, Double Dragon, Street Fighter, Doom, et al).

A good effort!
