In an effort to cheer me up on thursday night Jess came over, she lent me her Peep Show DVDs of Series 1-3. I've seen them all but I watch episodes of it so often it doesn't matter how many times I've seen it.

Obviously I'm Region 1 so I can't really play them easily, VLC apparently can play any region DVDs without switching your computer's region (My iBook only gets five switches and it's locked to whatever the last switch was, I don't know how many other computers get) but I only got Series 2 to work in it. Still awesome as that's one of my favourite series of it. I'm trying to find a way to get around stupid region craposity.

I'm still glad you got me into that, wonderful show. I really wish they'd release Region 1 DVD's, I'd definitely get them.

Yeah me too. I'm working on getting my laptop to region 0. If I still had AppleCare I'd worry but there's no warranty to void anymore.

Thing is since I started trying, the program "DVD Player" won't play region 1 or 2 DVDs at all. I can play them in VLC of course, but I want to at least have region 1 autoplay in DVD Player. I can't find a way to use one of my 5 region switches without having DVD Player prompt me to change the region (which is like the only way to do it) and it has not done that once. It's become quite annoying.

Anyway I'm tired of House repeats. And the new My Name Is Earl episodes were good.

My birthday's coming up, and my parents are going to get me one or two DVD collections.

I'm debating on either Entourage, The Office, or (New) Doctor Who Series 2.

I'll probably end up with Entourage, since I've seen all the old Office episodes and I prefer comedy over drama when buying DVD's because I can watch them whenever and in any order. Like I've said before, Doctor Who is the only exception I've ever made to that rule, and even then that show is usually a pretty "watch-whenever" show albeit a few multi-episode story arcs.

Don't get The Office. I'm sure you're getting the american one. I have to say, it sucks. I haven't seen much of it but it wasn't good. The original was alright but, eh.

I already own the original British one, and I followed the American one when it aired for the first two seasons. I liked it but even I couldn't trick myself into thinking it was anything too amazing.

South Park is a show I can gladly purchase even though I've seen all the episodes over and over again. Same with Scrubs.

I don't know if I'm willing to re-watch The Office.

So it's officially a toss-up between Entourage and Doctor Who Season 2, which I just remembered is grossly overpriced at $90.

I've never personally met someone who doesn't like it.

I've never followed it, but I watch it if it's on HBO with my dad some nights, and I'd really like to see all of it. It's got a really fun cast.

Posted on:  8 April 2008, 02:17:23

So, yeah, I settled on Entourage. I was planning on getting 2 seasons, and expecting them to be $40 each. However, I went to Best Buy today and saw Season 2, 3A, and 3B for $33. I wasn't there for that reason, but I called up my parents and convinced them to let me use my birthday money a few days early.
I grabbed season 2 and went to check out, and to my pleasant surprise, it was labeled over-price and it only really cost $19.99!
If they had Season 1 I would've bought that one, too, but they didn't. I figured I'd look around before jumping the gun and getting Season 3A, but when I called Barnes & Noble, one of the few other places around here where I was sure they had it, they're selling it for a full $40. All of them.

Best Buy is on my good side right now, but they need to get the first season in.

I loved South Park last night, mainly because I hate that movie Stand And Deliver. They always show it in a math class when you have a free day, never a good movie. I must've seen it like 8 times in that exact same setting.

South Park hit it dead on.

Also, I've been flying through Season 2 of Entourage. I've never really watched it in bunches before, usually I see one episode at a time spontaneously. It really is a good show, and it's almost entirely because of the defined and fun characters.

LOL South Park, it never ceases to get old.

I've been watching Reboot recently; you know that old show they used to play on toonami that makes fun of everything in a corny way?

Reboot is the #####. Remains to this day one of the best TV series I've seen and I've seen all of the episodes multiple times.

I heard they were making a movie (CGI, not real actors) a while ago. Haven't heard anything since.

That's the first time I've even heard of a movie... Not sure how they would pull that off without the massive jokes.

I just got done watching the episode where they were making fun of DBZ. Priceless.

The series continued on for about 20 more episodes when they left Toonami in... 2003?

Wow, 2003. I never knew it lasted that long. I remember seeing reruns some ways down the road after I initially watched it, but that wouldn't have proved anything if I didn't know how many episodes there even was.

2003 is just a guess on my part. I know they played it for a long time on Toonami back when it was awesome but they ripped it off of the air then put it back on for maybe a month then POOF no more Reboot.

Reboot kicks ass. Between poking fun at computer jargon and just enough darkness and sinister-ness to keep me watching, it essentially dominated my TV life around the turn of the millennium. And my mom briefly worked with a couple of the animators from the series, too (well after they were done with it, of course).

You're all idiots. ReBoot (sic) ran from 1994-2001.

Don't be sad, it was just my favourite show ever at the time and is still my favourite kids show ever and I know pratically all there is to know about it and have the book about them designing things (from creation to end) and have actually read every word of it (I usually just look at the pictures and read a BIT) and it would be totally unhealthy and the nerdiest thing ever if I accumulated this useless knowledge quickly but since it's from 14 years of it all I think it's all cool and deserving of a run on sentence.

Also, I talked with a rep from Mainfraime at the Ottawa International Animation Festival '06 about ReBoot and it's possible future and about their other stuff for quite a long time. The only reps I talked to anywhere close to that (mostly based on the fact that I was doing work with them) was an Art Director from Disney.

That's one of those things I've been meaning to see for a very long time now, just like Fight Club. I can't call myself a movie buff if I haven't seen Fight Club, yet I've still never had the chance.

Gurren Lagann should remain untouched. Not even Haruhi should get near it, it's too awesome to be tainted by second class animes.

I watched a comedian named Jim Gaffigan the other day. He's a pretty funny guy, all he talks about is food though.

Nobody says "a comedian named Jim Gaffigan."

It suggests you didn't know who he was.

Which angers me.

I live for comedy.

I can see myself one day accidentally being pushed onto a stage during a stand-up club night or something and hitting it off really well and suddenly making it really big. That's the only way to go, and I know it's going to happen, exactly like that.

It'll be all "Comedy Central Presents: Alec Robbins" to "HBO One-Hour Stand-Up Special: Alec Robbins, Cooler Than You" to "Remember the stand-up greats? George Carlin, Mitch Hedburg, Alec Robbins?"
